Not likely since these designs are the original designs of the Destructons from the Blackthorne comics and not based on any toys. The Destructons don't transform, either. They're featured here since they've been pivotal characters in this year's six-part Club magazine comic story "Alone Together".

Leave it to The Club to shine the spotlight on something that had literally no impact on a Fandom for 30 years.

That's not a complaint; I think that's pretty cool!

Looks like repurposed G Gundam designs to me.

No centaurs in G Gundam (just a horse), but there were some samurai centaurs in Gundam Kiba-Musha.

I don't care one bit if they transform or not, I would very much like three voyagers and a leader out of them. Medusa and Psychokhan as voyagers just to make sure they have enough articulation and are decently sized.

At the BotCon Retrospective Panel at this year's con, there were 20 concepts shown for toy ideas that the Club had had for exclusives, but were never made. The first 10 were ideas that never got past conception, and the secone 10 were ones that were approved but then rejected. In the second group were two concepts for a Bruton toy. One was to have been made from the Generations FOC Voyager Grimlock mold, and the other was to have been made from the Prime First Edition Voyager Bulkhead mold. But both were canned due to Bruton being considered far too obscure to be desirable.

And seeing as how neither of these molds would really do Bruton proper justice, I'm glad neither were made.

Also, just for funsies, have some nightmare fuel:

Out of curiosity, what were the other nineteen concepts?

Mindmaster wrote:Out of curiosity, what were the other nineteen concepts?

Quoted from my own coverage of the panel:
20 Years, 20 Exclusives That Never Were.

The first 10 never even made it past conception, the second ten were approved but then rejected

1 – Hardshell (G1 Bombshell) from Generations Darkmount/Straxus

2 – Overlord from ROTF Mindwipe

3 – Hubcap from Animated Soundwave

4 – "Marlboro" from ROTF Lockdown

5 – "Femme Fatale Cykill" from Prime First Edition Arcee

6 – "Predaking BW Style" from Beast Wars Tigerhawk

7 – Shattered Glass Stranglehold from 2010 Deluxe Axor, would have had a mustache

8 – Skyquake and King Atlas (I think?) from Universe Ultra Silverbolt

9 – The Turbomasters w/ Thunderclash from Prime RID Ultra Magnus and four Prime RID Deluxe car molds (Wheeljack, Bumblebee, etc.)

10 – Twilight Sparkle Prime from Beast Wars Neo Mach Kick

What You Almost Got

11 – G1 Ransack from Generations FOC Kickback w/ two Arms Microns

12 – Three pirates from PRID Wheeljack, PRID Dreadwing, Generations FOC Air Raid (Wheeljack was almost this year's Cannonball)

13 – Bumper from Prime RID Rumble

14 – G1 Crosshairs from Generations Kup

15 – Animated Strika from Animated Voyager Bulkhead

16 – Bruton from Generations FOC Grimlock

17 – Bruton from Prime First Edition Bulkhead

18 – Machine Wars Prowl from Classics Mirage (was replaced by Machine Wars Mirage)

19 – Machine Wars Hubcap from Generations Kup w/ the MW Hoist/Electrons headsculpt

Teasing us with Animated drawings, Sideswipe, Jackpot, Jhiaxus, Goldbug, purple Blackout

20 – The original plan for 2011's Animated set: Toxic Mayhem – BugBite (Animated Hydrodrive Bumblebee) and Toxitron (Animated Wingblade Optimus Prime) vs. Jackpot (which we did get later) and Kup (Cybertron Mode Optimus Prime). Animated Sideswipe would have been based on the SG deco instead of the G2 deco. Animated Tigatron from Rodimus. Animated Shokaract from Blackout. Animated Springer from Swindle. Animated Flamewar, Nightracer, and one other black & green Con fembot (missed the name of this one) from Arcee. Plus G1-colors Breakdown and Action Master colors Thundercracker (both of which we did wind up getting).

One proposal that couldn’t be found was told to us instead: a BotCon Alternators box set. Four figure box set. Galvatron from Wheeljack (new head). Cyclonus from Mirage. Ultra Magnus from Optimus. Rodimus from somebody (but we got one anyway).

The Ultra Mammoth idea came out earlier than it was revealed, in like 2012 or so. And since we got a BW version of Ultra Magnus, and there was already a BW version of Optimus, who does that leave that's missing...?

Bonus 21 – Rodimouse from Transmetal Rattrap!

From what I recall, the most well received ideas from the audience were numbers 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 (the whole room went nuts over this one, with everyone either loving it or hating it), 11, 15, 18, 19, 20, the Alternators set, and 21.

where is my xacto and some paint oh and the SG/Animated Sides- swipe sounds awesome
too bad this list wasn't able to carry us over from AOE to RID 2015 as i would absolutely would love to see a SG sideswipe show up in my local Wally world (Walmart) that line would be themost awesome thing in existence and why not a Animated Windblade as a heavily modified Starscream with new weapons, body and head sculpt in her IDW coloring from the mini series and a G1 thunder-clash from Super Base Prime with a new trailer those might never happen but do sure sound interesting

ROTF Lockdown does not fit for a diaclone wheeljack homage, knowing the club they should've just reused Generations wheeljack for it, makes the most sense. BW's Prediking would've been interesting, but pointless. Skyquake and King Atlas work well with that mold, sometimes the most obvious is actually, you know, good. Twilight Sparkle Prime, I don't care. G1 Ransack from Generations FOC Kickback actually works because being obvious isn't bad. Animated Strika from Animated Voyager Bulkhead would've ruined her distinct character design. Machine wars, well if they wanted to stay slavish to the toys like thundercracker and mirage then they would've made for piss poor exclusives. Toxic Mayhem sounds like a mishmash of animated characters, The Stunti-con job was at least united by a solid theme. Alternators, whatever. Rodimouse is genuinely the stupidest transformer concept the club's ever produced; I hate it, and everything it represents.

The idea probably came about in the years before Generations Wheeljack existed. Not all of these ideas were recent ones. These spanned Fun Pub entire run of the convention, which goes back as far as 2005.

The audience seemed to take to it solely because of the Marlboor Wheeljack homage, which they found amusing.

SW's SilverHammer wrote:BW's Prediking would've been interesting, but pointless.
Eh, from what I remember of it, the Tigerhawk mold looked pretty cool in yellow, orange, and black. 8)

SW's SilverHammer wrote:Animated Strika from Animated Voyager Bulkhead would've ruined her distinct character design.
The guys giving the presentation explained that it would have been an Earth body for her like what Blackout's toy was. And considering the limitations of what's available to work with when it comes to Animated toys, there's not a whole lot of other options to choose from short of having a whole new mold made by Hasbro.

SW's SilverHammer wrote:Machine wars, well if they wanted to stay slavish to the toys like thundercracker and mirage then they would've made for piss poor exclusives.
People were upset enough that Prowl and Hubcap got left out of the 2013 exclusive lineup, and many still feel that Electro was an unnecessary inclusion that robbed Hubcap (the sole new Autobot character of the line) of his chance for getting a new toy.

SW's SilverHammer wrote:Toxic Mayhem sounds like a mishmash of animated characters, The Stunti-con job was at least united by a solid theme.
A lot of yearly sets feel like mishmashes (take this year's for instance). It all depends on what the story would have been like.

To each his own. The crowd erupted with applause and laughter when they saw a Rodimus-decoed TM Rattrap appear onscreen. One of those "so out-there crazy it's awesome" ideas.

To be fair though, if you think hard enough, the character choice can make a theme, 2014 for example is different aspects of G1; japanese, americana, marvel comics, sunbow cartoon, toys, and botcon exclusives.

Right, and Toxic Mayhem would have centered on Toxitron being a key character with the others likewise worked in somehow. Given that Sideswipe and Jackpot are cops, and Tigatron would have homaged his 2006 toy (who was also a cop), it's likely the story would have still been a cop-based story like what The Stunti-Con Job was, only with Toxitron as the main villain instead (and probably not characterized as "Bizarro-esque" dim-witted as he was made to be).

Oh come on, I'm pretty damn skippy that most of the toys fun pub's been putting on the market these past few years are more so the result of internal "office" politics between the club and the transformer people at Hasbro , than Hasbro not wanting to get off their asses despite what they say.

Think most of those were awful. With the exception of # 6. Think TigerHawk might have made a better botcon Razorclaw or Predaking toy than the Cybertron Leo Breaker toy did.

I'm not excited about any of these missed ideas... except the Machine Wars pair. I really wish those would have happened while the molds were on the presses. Bummer.

The Transformers Collectors Club has posted on their Twitter feed images of two of their upcoming Subscription Services figures. They state that these are samples, but these two are "pretty much final."

Krok is a retool of Generations Stealth Bomber Megatron with a new head and will come with Gatoraider, a repaint of Arms Micron Dai.

Carzap is a retool of Generations Bumblebee with a new head, and will be accompanied by a KreO set featuring G. B. Blackrock and a representation of the Block Town gas station/laser weapon playset that was supposed to accompany the original release of the figure in Japan.

The Transformers Club has noted that they've received samples for all 6 figures of this set and most likely the unannounced 7th 'freebie' figure as well. So expect more club news in the near future right here!

Krok will go well with RoTF Bludgeon on my neo-G1 shelf. Krok, as Ted DiBiase used to say, "You will be bought!" Image

I know I give the club a hard time, I do, because Im fickle. However, I'm going to be amazingly pissed if the secret figure is G2 nightracer from generations tailgate. That mold sucks, so hard, and I genuinely adore nightracers character design from before timelines #9 where they screwed it all up by giving her a new body based on generations tailgate.

They should use the Animated Arcee mold. That's what it looked like before the Tailgate switch.

Of course, they could wait a few years and just use the new Generations Arcee mold.

On another note, TFCC really needs to produce new figures for the rest of the Action Masters that never had transforming figures before. I think those are the most inventive of their repaints.

No, she just looked like her G2 toy but stylized in the art of the comic.

And the Club likely won't use Animated molds for anything that isn't Animated.

Agreed. They are some of my most favourite Club offerings in recent years.

100% agree - the Club's action masters have been some of their strongest work.

Crook and Carzap are really looking great. I really hated on 3.0 when they first revealed the characters, but it's turning out to be a fairly cool subscription line. I'm very happy I signed up.

In my opinion, the Jackpot repaint was aimed to fit either on a classics or Animated shelf. The head isn’t too far off from the G1 toy even with the Animated aesthetic. I also use Toxitron on my classics G2 shelf. The faceplate gets rid of the goofy face and the toxic “mutation” helps justify his animated aesthetic as being deformed.

Krok and Carzap are the main reason I signed up for the Subscription service this year after skipping last year. Color me very impressed with the work on these two. Krok's altmode looks like it was made for him- his original toy has a starship bridge chest thing going on. And I'm digging Carzap's new head and what is that? A chromed weapon? Very nice.

Ugh. I'm excited for this guy, but getting two predominantly white versions of this mold really makes me want a "Nemesis Pax." I know that makes sense in no continuity, even the name makes no sense... but I just want it.

As a side note, I do wish we'd have gotten a more traditional Orion Pax (read "gheee-wuuuunnnn") head on that mold... maybe as a Takara release.

BUT gotta agree. So glad I subscribed to 3.0. While I was skeptical at the start, these have come out looking really nice... and the deep-rooted, well-researched, sometimes-obscure choices were like a slow-starting now out-of-control wildfire. I'm really, really excited about those... especially the action masters and unreleased character reduxes. :KREMZEEK:

Lio Convoy looks fantastic as well. As long as I keep those two white trucks FAR apart on the shelves... all will be cool. heh.

Great to get some BW vehicle bots to flesh out that lineup/shelf. (I know people say they are different universes, but hey... it's my shelves. I'll put them where I wanna.) >:oP

interesting though. Seems like they are close to the same height by my memory. Orion Pax was a painfully short deluxe. (yeah, I said deluxe) Like Trailbreaker/Hoist, I could have had that guy a head taller. Sigh.
