Seriously?
Dont read comics so I dont know the fiction. But any name with "elle" at the end is traditionally a female name. I would question the writer of the fiction WTF they were thinking.
I said this once before: Nacelle, like Thrust, Dirge and Ramjet, is a real word used in aviation, in this case it's a housing separate from the main body or fuselage.
I didnt know that. But to someone not verse in aviation terms its more likely to come off as being a female name. Out of all the names of parts that could have been used, it was a silly choice. Michelle, Rochelle, Jizelle, etc. I dont know if its the same comic writer, but they should have made slipstream the male (brother to bitstream) and nacelle the female seeker. It just would have worked better in the norms of human culture. Just my opinion.
Nope. In the norms of English speaking culture maybe, but not human culture. Michel is a very polular guy's name in French and Andrea is a very popular guy's name in Italian. And as far as I can tell, Transformers are for a global audience.

I feel trapped by it. I have a full squad of them, but they really are dated. I detest the idea of starting over with that group, but really wish they were bigger now that the idea of Classics have evolved.

I get the trapped feeling. Everytime I look at my coneheads, I want an MP mold more and more.

Well, at least Nacelle is a great addition. I like the reference to the old prototype. But I'd have liked to see G2 prototype Sandstorm (I think that was the name). Oh, well, it has a great run.
I can't help but agree that it's too small and unarticulated for a character set like the Seekers. Yet it remains the best version of the Seekers, to me at least. None of the other deluxe moulds are much larger and, to me, this is how a Seeker is supposed to look like.

Desslok2201 wrote:Holy Jeez..if TFCC is putting that mold to bed, what kind of shape is it in? Nacelle and G2 Starscream are likely to be missing chunks of wings, legs, and look like they've been rolled in sand. BBTS Seacons will probably look better.
Exaggeration is an art
Just because the Club decided to no longer use it, doesn't mean Hasbro can't still cook up something. I'd say that's unlikely given that the new Deluxe Armada Starscream makes a good replacement for either company, I already have the perfect character for the Club to use: Universe 2003 Ramjet. Slap Jhiaxus' wings on him, but keep the Starscream cockpit, make a new head, there ya go.

That said, It looks like things are rebooting for the seekers. IDW versions of the basic seekers are coming, so you can wager Screamer and Skywarp will be on the horizon ... for those wanting a fresh, larger version.

I haven't gotten tired of the mold yet.
I don't have the same love of the FOC seeker mold, mostly because I don't like the "thunder-calves" look.
Posted by Noideaforaname on January 29th, 2015 @ 12:28pm CST
Not that I blame them.
And "Nacelle" totally sounds like a female name to me, regardless of the various explanations, and I'm disappointed they didn't take the opportunity to add a second female Seeker... and another female without the hourglass frame.

Anyway, a new update of this mold could be cool, but I don't see that happening.

I'd love to see them make some Combiner Wars Seekers. Either remolds of Silverbolt and one of the Arialbots, or just new molds, as Super Seeker and Regular Seeker mold. The Regular Seeker mold(limbs) be used for the obvious Starscream, Thrust, Sunstorm, Redwing, Skywarp, Dirge, etc, etc, etc. While the Super Seeker(torso) would be used for characters like Skyquake, Dreadwing, MW Starscream, Leozack, etc. It could be really interesting as you could create multiple custom Seeker combiners. You could probably even make a combiner out of just Starscreams(G1, G2, MW, Ghost, Black). Or you could make a combiner out of 4 generic Seekers and Super Seeker.

I'm sure the club could do some of those theoretical Seeker limbs. In fiction, they only have Starscream, Thundercracker (who isn't really a 'Con anymore), Dirge, Acid Storm and Skywarp as limbs. Sunstorm is dead, so are Thrust and Ramjet.

Saying this, I'd love a 6 con Devy... and I'd be open to a seeker combiner, too. Sunstorm can even come hang out.

I feel far more trapped by the MP Seeker mold. It's also from 2006 and even though they changed it a bit, its essentially the very same mold with the same problems.

Oh, I totally get that. All I'm saying is that they're only likely to do figures that currently feature in fiction. Arcee and Chromia have been fairly prominent (Arcee more so than Chromia), so they get toys. I think we're getting Slingshot as a toy as a nod to the original Superion, even though Alpha Bravo is alive in fiction and Slingshot isn't. But the main Combiner Wars toyline (so far) is almost exclusively characters that are alive and well and fit in with a faction. Bombshell seems to be the only exception to that so far.

It was fairly extensively changed between the original MP-3 Starscream and MP-11 Starscream, no? What are the problems with the mold that you see? I only have Acid Storm to look at as an example. I have the original Hasbro Skywarp and Hasbro MP Thundercracker, but they're still in boxes.

You can't tell me the updated MP mold has the same issues as the Classics mold. You just can't. The only improvements on the MP mold I can imagine are a slight height boost, waste swivel, updated hands in the post-MP10 style, and maybe and a hinge at the bottom of the wing so that thin extension can fold up into the main wing body instead of sticking out. That sounds extensive, but when the Classics Seeker mold is overdue for an outright replacement, it's a stark difference.

Not the same issues, just more issues. The MP mold lacks stability in the chest area, and has a head that is too far back making it look totally disjointed from the rest of its body. Also the transformation is very fiddly with the nosecone and results in a clumsy backpack. That was not changed from the original 2006 mold.

Already have Six toys using that 1.0 deluxe seeker mold. Starscream,Thundercracker, Skywarp, Dirge, Thrust and Ramjet.
Never had any desires to buy any obsecure seeker characters for the 1.0 Seeker mold.
Think it's time HasTak created a Voyager new update toy for that 1984 Seeker design.

I tell you what would be cool though- if they retooled the Classics Seeker molds slightly and released them as an unpainted, unsassembled model kit on runners- or even released it via ShapeWays. That way people could still get the Classics toy and do it in whatever colours they feel like.

Kabaya beat you to that idea:

From what I can tell only the knees have been eliminated, which is pretty much standard fare with all Kabaya releases.

I wish I could afford the Leader-Class Thundercracker and its inevitable repaints, or for preference the MP molds, as those would look good next to MP Soundwave, but that being off the table, I don't know that I care all that much anymore.

You're doing it wrong. The back folds up very neatly if you do it the right way. Trust me.

While I see your point (and disagree with the head and transformation/backpack comments - most of the MPs, especially the cars, have awkward backpacks), I'm still not sure it's an apt comparison.
But hey, that's just me... and I'm coming off an MP Seeker high with the addition of an MP11 style Skywarp to the lineup.
