So is there a way to get this coupon without buying the regular blu-ray, seems pointless otherwise.
There are several points for me to get this:
1. Bluray is coming out before the 3D version... i want this movie ASAP.
2. 3D version doesnt even have a date yet so there is no telling how long we may have to wait.
3. Having a Bluray only version will complete my set of the other 2 movies I have on Blu Ray.
4. The 3D version is a completely different viewing experience than that of a non 3D.
Yes it would be nice if they were coming out at the same time. But we knew they werent. So this offer is a nice way to soften the cost later. I think its cool they are doing it.
Basically I have no issue contributing money to my favorite movies of all time.

I thought the whole point was this first release was just the movie and the combo pack, and 2nd version would be the movie with the 3D option and all the special features.
So I guess there's nothing unique about this first release anymore?

So essentially 1 deleted scene and 5 commentaries by Michael Bay saying how everything was his idea....? Again....?

I think they did that with Watchmen on Blu-Ray, but at least in that case, the 1st release was the theatrical version and bonus content, and then the 2nd release was the director's/extended cut with a ton of more bonus content.
Now it seems that in this case there really isn't anything unique to the 1st release version at all.
I think the smart thing would be that if the Walmart $20 Sentinel Prime version comes with the coupon, that's the way to go, because then you at least have the movie to watch (and just wait for the DVD, Digital Copy and Bonus) and a unique cover and your only out $10 (if you use the coupon)

sidenote: the Avatar Collector's Edition 3 disc BR was well worth the wait -I've been so busy haven't had time to watch much of the spec. features yet. Glad I never bought the first edition & couldn't understand why so many bought it blindly
