The full, legendary Transformers: Fall of Cybertron saga begins on August 21st when the game hits retail stores ... but before that, we want to let you know about our downloadable demo available now on Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Network.
This feature-packed demo gives fans the opportunity to sample both single AND multi-player modes in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. Gamers can experience the explosive first mission as Bumblebee desperately battles to save the Autobot starship under heavy attack from Megatron and the Decepticons. Players will also get to take control of Vortex in a non-linear assault mission, changing from chopper-to-jet-to-robot however they please while engaging in blistering firefights on the ground and in the air. As if that wasn't enough, the Transformers: Fall of Cybertron demo also allows fans to get a taste of the game's robust Transformers character customizer, and take their newly created bots straight into Team Deathmatch and Conquest online multiplayer modes.
In order to provide the best experience for gamers at launch, High Moon Studios will be carefully monitoring the multiplayer action for player feedback and balancing data. Fans are invited and strongly encouraged to direct their comments to the team's Twitter account: @FallofCybertron, https://twitter.com/FallofCybertron.
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will hit retail stores here in the U.S. on August 21st. For more information and updates, fans can visit www.facebook.com/TransformersGame and www.TransformersGame.com.

PROTIP: In Multiplayer, use a Titan with Energon Harvester. That weapon is so retardedly over-powered, it's great.

So far, things look good. I've only jumped into multiplayer,as I want to save the story for when the game gets released.
Edit: Joeville, I've pre-ordered. Do you have a PS3?
IMPORTANT: High Moon studios have stated your stats don't carry over to the final version of the game!

I hope to compile a review video before the game hits about why these reasons are.
Some of them are thus:
While I was long ago depressed at hearing the drop of co-op, I'm far more pleased with the gameplay and story of the campaign this time around, and the audio recordings that add to the story, and blueprints that add to your arsenal in the Teletraan store MADE me want to go back and replay the level! I still haven't found one of the recordings and want to search for it again to hear what it has to say. This is far better, IMO, than the destructible Abot and Dcon logos of the past. These collectibles actually add value to the rest of the game besides completionist props.
On the gameplay, I'm VERY IMPRESSED with the controls! My first day I was a little tentative as I played the first level, but it was set up well with the learning curve, and I picked up the controls quick enough to feel confident when I got to vortex's level (until the end where the AI thrashed me a couple lives, LOL). The new controls really shine in multiplayer, as they make the bots so maneuvreable. I really enjoy the weapons, after I've read up on them and found out what they're good for. The customization is fun, especially the elite, dino, insect & gestalt heads which really shocked me. I LOVED finding out about Dragstrip and adore his alt mode.
On the colors, I said it during WfC, I'll say it again - I have a hard enough time keeping track of which team I'm on and who's the opponents (though I'm very slowly getting better) that extra colors would probably kill me mid-match. Between both factions I can usually find something that inspires me on a character creation level. I understand the frustrations on not being able to make the perfectly customized transformer - but I'll leave that for the mmo. I'm not concerned about always being in a fight with possibly ambiguous enemies on the mmo.
I see tons of ways that HMS has listened to and improved on WfC extending far beyond the Host migration - the customization of parts being one of them. More and varied weapons, better distinguished (no class has the same weapons or anything, even alt mode speeds are different! [FINALLY in a TF game]) and more balanced classes (the only class I'm not good with yet is the destroyer, which at least I can still break even on the KDR), the deeper, more involved and intriguing story in campaign (IMO, I'll leave it at that)....In playing this demo, it far exceeded my expectations. HMS went above and beyond to me.
And, It Is Him, you can get the Sideswipe skin by choosing his chest when you get to level 6 or whatever. Some of his parts, and his entire "rig" are locked, but you can definitely unlock the chest, head, arms, & shoulders. Same with Ratchet.
I can't wait for the 10th when they raise the level restriction so we can get to those other weapons and character parts and upgrades. I cannot wait.

I did not know they planned on raising the level restriction on the 10th. Where does this info come from.
On a side note, for my scientist, I started out with the heal ability then switched to the sentry gun. I switched back to the heal ability but now that my scientist 2 has been unlocked, I am unable to select the sentry for either of them.
I'm on the fence about them resetting the stats when the game releases. Part of me wants what I've unlocked already. The other part of me wants to earn it from the full game.
Sorry to hear that some have been disappointed about the game.
I, for one LOVE the demo and cant wait for the full game.
Maybe somewhere down the road, they will have a dlc that allows for co-op campaign that allows for multiple character selection.

"Hey Blast-Off!"
"Yes, Vortex?"
"Where are we going, Blast-Off?"
"This way, Vortex!"
As for the Multiplayer: Even with all of the enhancement, character customization is kinda weak. I understand why they limit body types by class, but there should be like 100 selectable heads, all available in each class. You could re-mold for eternity. The gameplay was fun but didn't feel far removed from the previous game. I prefer double-jumps & weapon drops, both removed from FoC. The weapons for the Destroyer class are worthless, & Conquest mode is OK, but it'd be better with a smaller map or more characters. Here it's just drive, capture, drive, capture, & so on. 6/10.

Not impressed by the low res of the graphics or that the game crashed as bumblebee left the bridge.
The graphics have clearly had a lot of work put into them but I don't think it's rendering at 720p which is the mode my screen jseems to be in. Think its a much lower res that is being up scaled to fit.
Sound was excellent though.
I'm not sure If I want to keep my pre order now. Shame.
Update: no crashes on my 2nd play. I enjoyed the single player levels. The graphics issues still stand but once you get into it they don't matter so much.

Campaign
-Vortex level was really nice and open but I had no idea where to go most of the time. It took me awhile to figure out where the objective was at.
-You can only have a primary weapon and a heavy weapon. I really wanted to run around with the Neutron assualt rifle and Path blaster but was only given one choice...
Multiplayer
-Destroyer and Titan's vehicle speed is SLOOOW.
-The removal of vehicle abilities. The car's flip,the truck's ram,jets's barrel roll,and tank's 180 turn.
-Wished the destoyer had some-sort of automatic weapon and not just power weapons.
-the Color customization was WEAK!!! I would like to use the old WFC color palate more then the new FoC version. Hopefully they change that in the next few weeks.
Other then that,What an AWESOME game. Cannot wait til 8/21.

I haven't had a chance to test Multiplayer as it kept crashing but I did look at the customisation options. I really hope they let us choose our own colours and not the preselected ones they created. I like the multiple combinations you can have but I hope they will have more either on release or DLC. Also, you can make Galvatron and Emperor Starscream, gotta love that.
Bring it on High Moon, I'm waiting.

It's on the news ticker in MP.
You can sort of see it on the end before I change screens on here:

It's not *supposed* to be available for the demo - apparently there was a glitch where you could use it and several did, but HMS modified the demo a little bit (I've since seen only one person using the sentry since then) so it's better now (again, see above video). And retaliating against some people who obviously unlocked several unlockable things (entire skins, abilities, etc. on one character). Back to my previous post, the fact that HMS is doing anything at all in MP (banning cheaters, fixing some exploitables) is more than we got in WfC. Balance-wise they tweaked it early on and had the exp weekends and such, but, that's about it. I hope the support continues. Activision sure seems to be helping HMS this time around and I cn only guess that's why, and I'm grateful for it. Keep pushing, Activision! Get your published product out there!

I'm frankly quite sure we'll get our color palette in the full game. Silly for them to add all of the colors in the demo.

Haha, don't feel alone. I played quite a bit of wfc multiplayer but when I started playing foc, I was kicked in my hind quarters several times. After getting a feel for the game and how the level is laid out, you find the different strengths and weaknesses of each class. With practice and different upgrades resulting from leveling up you'll be slagging other bots in no time.

BeastWarsFTW wrote:Has anyone else had good luck with the destroyer/leader class? It was the the last class I leveled up and I did it last night and I thought it was kinda fun. Levels 1 and 2 suck because you have no weapon abilities. But once you get to 3+ you gain longer shield time (which I never knew you could shoot through at people), quicker rocket launcher reload time, and fast firing of the fusion/riot canon. After I got those buffs I was doing really well with it.
I played Leader/Destroyer a bit. Yeah he's alright. Its funny how he is not the Raging, Warcry, Fragger that he was in the WFC. He's been reduced greatly in this game which I think is a good thing. Im not really a fan of the shield/barrier although it is useful and it is nice how in this game you can shoot through it but the enemy cannot as to where in WFC you could not shoot either way through it, so thats a nice perk. One thing I noticed that Im not liking is having to repeatedly press R1 to fire continuously in this game. In WFC you only had to hold R1 to fire continuously and here in FOC you have to press it again and again and again. Took me several deaths to figure that out. haha! I have been mostly enjoying the Scientist and Soldier/Titan. I like the XScrapmaker not having to wind up anymore which I thought was precious time lost in WFC. I like the Scientist as I am a Seeker at heart but I hate its Transformation in this game. The scientist in WFC had a faster, smoother Transformation. And I have never really been a fan of their healing ability. Its useless unless your around your other team mates. So if your fighting a couple enemies alone you pretty much have no abilities to use which sucks hard for the Scientist in this game. Thats why Im very eager for the official game release so we can unlock the sentry. Personally I dont care for healing. I want to fight and destroy as a Scientist. Sorry guys I love my team and want to help them out but healing is more of a supporting role and Im trying to be the Star. lol

I just wish people could see your actual transformer name when they kill you or you kill them. Cause I ripped some of mine from rifftrax ( MSTK 3000 ) riffing on Dark of the Moon when the Decepticons emerge from the moon surface. Two names I used were "Slaptimus " and " Mortimer W. Clankity Britches " LOL.

So very true! Whats the point of letting us name our Transformers when no one sees it but us.

GENERAL.
Vehicle Abilities: It seems odd that these were taken out. Being able to Ram someone as a truck or do a Barrel Roll for evasion was a nice option to have and it added flavor to the vehicle modes. As it is the vehicle modes are fun and have obvious applications but I really miss driving into an opponent and ramming them, or avoiding certain death with a barrel roll, etc.
Kill Streaks:
While I respect your statement that killstreaks led to “runaway gamers”, I felt that they added tangible rewards for doing well besides just the kill count. Again, flavor and tangible benefits come into play. The killstreaks that benefited the whole team were especially good.
To avoid single “runaways”, perhaps introduce killstreaks only as team buffs? Or even a cosmetic benefit, such as the energon veins puling brighter as you do well and slightly increased shield/health regen rate.
Health/Shield rates: Shields seem very weak. This may be working as intended on your part but it feels like the Shield takes only 1-2 shots tops before failing.
Weapon Switch rates seem slow. Again may be working as intended.
CLASS COMMENTS:
Destroyer: Weapon loadouts seem very splash damage based. No SMG-type gun shown so far. This may be invalid if later weapons do in fact rapid-fire.
Titan: Weapon loadouts feel very close/mid-range based, near useless at long range. Walk speed while firing Scrapmaker feels very slow. Tank cannon Rate of Fire could use slight buff. Cannot seem to get two tank shots off on single opponent without sustaining large damage. Again, further unlocks may alleviate this issue. Health does not seem to last significantly longer than other classes.
Scientist: Weapons are good and complement each other in the demo. Can missile lock-on time in vehicle mode be decreased? Transformation of Autobot variant seems slower than Decepticon variant.
OVERALL:
I really like the oldschool Quake feel in regards to powerups and ammo pickups. Demo stage is very good. Graphics do seem to be a little bit grainy, as if there are too many details on opponents to render properly at high speed. This usually comes into play only when observing other players. The Player Character model always looks reaaly nice. Perhaps a light cel-shading filter can be added to other players in multiplayer to smooth out rough edges?
Overall great game, am looking forward to many hours in multiplayer. Will send more feedback after the next round of demo unlocks.

But anyhow...wow. I'd vanished from this forum for a few years but FoC rekindled my interest in TransFormers again. Been watching videos of it all weekend and the game just looks fantastic. First game I've ever wanted actually.
