For those of you who may not be familiar with the names for these two figures, Kraken and Lobclaw are the Japanese names for Seawing and Nautilator, respectively. The Seacons only showed up in a few issues of the Marvel comic, and not at all in the cartoon, but it was a different story in Japan. They were featured in the Transformers Super God Masterforce cartoon and manga, as were many figures released in 1988, but given different names. The Seacons, in particular, were all essentially mindless drones that attacked en masse, commanded by Turtler (Snap Trap). They could combine with him to form King Poseidon. So because these Seacons are a Takara initiated project, they'll be released with Japanese names, instructions and packaging, but due to Hasbro and Takara's brand unification, they will still be sold in the U.S.

History lesson aside, please click on either figure's picture to be taken to Hasbro Pulse, where you can pre preorder these two, and be two steps closer to completing your Piranacon King Poseidon combiner! Of note, they are only available to order on Pulse until September 29th, so only a little over three weeks! Let us know below if you plan on picking either of these two up, and we'll see you in the forums!

No, the limit is being enforced. If you add Gulf and Turtler to your cart and try to check out you'll be told they're sold out and can't be ordered.
Deadput wrote:Sorry to bring this up but weren't the last figures of Rattrap, Rhinox, and Waspinator from thrilling 30 heavy shelfwarmers that didn't sell well?
They definitely didn't in my area. While I saw Rattrap a few times he never shelf warmed. Rhinox I saw a few times, but he didn't shelf warm like his wavemate Doubledealer. Waspinator's wave for many people only saw limited release if at all. It didn't show up in my area at any of the local stores until several months later (just before Combiner Wars) when I found a random Waspinator at Kmart. All of Thrilling Thirty wasn't particularly well distributed, the only Deluxe waves I can remember really being well stocked was 8 (Minicons, Armada Starscream, FoC Skywarp, and Scoop) and 9 (Rattrap and Tankor). The rest was a struggle and I missed many of them.
I also remember some people saying that some other beast war figures from earlier generations type lines like Cheetor and Dinobot weren't hot sellers either.
To be fair, those weren't very hot figures period. Cheetor's arms are an absolute mess and Dinobot had a ridiculous G2-esque deco of sickly yellow and purple for no real reason other than to possibly give Takara Tomy the more accurate version.

That sucks... Well, guess I'll have to order them from a different site then. Bummer

I wanted to do the exact same thing. My only question is...will Pulse ship these out individually when released, or will they wait until the Seacons come out, then ship them all at once? Every time I go to Pulse, I get a chat window I have to immediately ignore, and now the one time I have a legit question, the chat window isn't coming up...

What is the minimum for free shipping from Pulse? I thought it was $35, but when I tried to order Nightbird and powerdasher drill head guy, It wanted to charge me, so I added apeface for free shipping.
I'm assuming they are shipping items out as they come in stock because I ordered one Constructicon Studio series and Thundercracker from siege, and I already received the constructicon.

The same happened in Canada. Rhinox was easy to find (I came late to the game and was still able to get him) but Rattrap was a blink and you'll miss it (at Target no less, which was a blink and you'll miss it store in Canada

And if anyone wants an indication at how well Beast Wars could sell, look at the MPs. Dinobot and Megatron were crazy expensive and still sold out.

Star Convoy and the Seacons are TakaraTomy-initiated projects, and their standardized prices have always been a bit higher than Hasbro's when converted. However, their Selects range now has a premium markup of roughly 1,000 Yen for Deluxes, and 2,000-2,500 Yen for larger Classes, compared to Hasbro's $5 give or take. Don't blame this on the newly-tooled parts, Nightbird and Zetar which use existing alternate heads (I assume) are sold at the same price.
Hasbro taking the original TakaraTomy price points is a hard pill to swallow, I agree, but it is fair business-wise. Also, is this kind of a reversal of the "USA Edition" method, or a revival of Hasbrocollectors.com one?

And Waspinator was released twice, so they made more than others and even then, he didn't stick around for longer than he should. I remember Seeing Nightbeat more.

BW got a 15th anniversary line, and some nods in T30, I'm sure it will have a resurgence again soon. But quite literally the LAST T30 figure I saw, was a poor old beat-up package Rattrap that sat at a local WM forever, as CW toys came and went, this poor guy just stayed on the shelves, not sure whatever happened to it. Kind of like CW Leader Skywap that eventually had to go down to $10 almost two years after its release to finally be gone.

Well, its kind of fair when you consider that now 100% of Takara's retail Transformers output are USA editions.

Come now Death..., I know you reviewed at least ONE Unite Warriors set.... Although this is not branded as such, it is basically the same idea, Japanese Exclusivity however with the nice caveat that others are able to order them directly through Pulse and not have to pay import prices. It's not ideal, but it could be worse. $230-240 is hard to swallow, but I did pay near that price for some of the UW sets (so glad I'm not trying to get them NOW), and fans who purchased Predacus, or the TFCC Combiners ended up paying far more.
The Unite Warriors Baldigus set, I think it was. The Seacons will be almost $230 in total. The Baldigus set was about $170. Besides, I thought the whole point of bringing Takara and Hasbro under the same umbrella was to REDUCE the cost of these sets...

You're getting an extra Seacon for that money, for what it's worth.

Heck, Megatron has a broken cod piece and he still sold out!

Excellent point! The Unite Warriors sets were 5 member teams, 1 Voyager and 4 Deluxes. Piranacon/King Poseidon has a total of 6 figures, 1 Voyager and 5 Deluxes. If we're going to use the Baldigus set as a point of reference (which is debatable), then this set is really only up-charging by $30 altogether, or $5 per figure.

As awesome as the Beast Wars Masterpiece figures are, that's not necessarily indicative of "how Beast Wars would sell" if they did a Generations style release today.
Full Disclosure: I had over 80 Beast Wars figures.
