Boxofficemojo.com has estimate weekend totals so far putting Transformers at $152,500,000 domestically and $188,753,961 world wide totals. I also think it should be higher as the world wide contribution hasn't changed all week. What this means though is that the movie is profitable in less than a full week of release!

Congratulations Transformers team!

Wow, this movie is alot more successful than I thought it would be! And I thought it was going to be very very successful!

150$ million in less than a week is an enormous opening, and just the awesomeness of the CGI is enough for this film to deserve this kind of cash! Now let's see if this movie has legs, especially against Harry Potter...

Yeah you're right. I didn't expect it either... But hey I'm glad I was wrong.

So this means a 188 million for this weekend, excluding the rest of the world.. hmmm. It could easily get near the 200 million.

Hopefully, they can do a $250 million sequel. More robots, more Cybertron, more action, etc. Oh, hells yeah.

I'm not expecting the sequel to get that much money. I was more thinking like 180-200 million. Probably the latter... The movie already did so good, more people will view the sequel anyway.

i'm no movie/special effects expert but....wouldnt the sequel cost a little less than this one or least less than expected. i havent seen the movie yet (seeing it in about 2hrs) but whatever character survives...well they already have their models and stuff in the computer...so wouldnt that affect the budget at all?

i'm probably wrong and thats stupid reasoning but hey...i'm blonde, french AND canadian....cant blame me :P

It hasn't been a week and already its a profit! Yay!

It also might've helped that I watched 2x already.

Good news for the TF crew. Yeah They already have several of the completed CGI models already done. They can create a few more, or use the ones they have, re-color them . Then you'd have a whole new slew of Transformers to go.

Heres hoping Arcee and Wreckage and Prowl at the least are in it.

I'm talking about the studio spending $250 million on a sequel, not the sequel making $250 million. Just to be clear about things.

It's not going to have any trouble making money. It's gonna do near a $1 billion, easily.

UPDATE: Paramount is estimating that World Wide receipts by Sunday July 8th will total $246.1 Million! Transformers now has the highest 7 day non-sequel opening ever!

Don't forget that the 2 largest box office contributers outside of North America, the UK and Japan, are not getting the movie until late July and early August, so expect a large jump to the overall gross then. I'm guessing a total of $600-650 million by closing.

Wans´t AK who said that if TF won a Oscar he would eat his entire colection?

Guesse he has been laying low. I remeber him critizing the movie at every turn.

I dunno, I think that's a little overly optimistic. $600 million sounds more reasonable. Although I still think it won't break $200 million domestically.

And it still has not been released in the UK, and parts of Europe.

This is easily going to break $250 million worldwide, probably get close to $300 Million.

Wonder how long it'll take the Simpsons movie to break $150 million in the USA???

I've seen it 6 times already and I must admit that the original 7 out of 10 that I gave it after watching it for the first time is officially changed to a 9 out of 10. The action is so fast that small things are easily missed. Watching it a few times overs allows you to pick up some finer points. Excellent film on all fronts. WAY TO GO BAY!

Now that's just prime!!! I have been waithing for a long time for them to make a TF movie like this, since I was in high school about 7yrs back. I feel like TF has so much that can be embedded into its story line and charaterization, I'm sure that is why it has been doing good as it has for the last decade since the Beast Wars TF resparked the whole TF love. I need left them even though in the mid 90's they had stop, I still had to find them some where by what ever means. Way to go Transformers, hopefully the next film will have other characters like Ultra Magnus, the Dinobots and and some Combiners. That would be Awesome to say the least!!!

Go Optimus Prime! Go Starscream! You guys were awesome! The special effects were fantastic, as a fan for 20 years, my only complaint is there were too many humans the film, not enough transformers. Each transformers has their own personality and character, that should have been given film-time to bring out in more detail.
