wow... didn't see this one coming.

Huh, Man with the Golden Gun style Megatron.

All of a sudden I have an urge to play Goldeneye. For those who complained about delicate MPs, how 'bout them gold plastic/chrome?

I didnt see this coming at all. And I can't wrap my head around its purpose or meaning. Also, this might lessen the hope of this being a Last Shot type thing and thus mean that we are not getting a Megatron 2.0 anytime soon.

Gold give away MP1 is stunning, Im always on the lookout for one to show on ebay and prepared to pay whatever necessary to make it mine...

Gold megatron is going to look great next to king grimlock, the bling impact of that figure made it kinda lonely on my display shelf, but not anymore... The LED light on the grimlock shelf is usually off so that it wont look as shiny in comparison to the rest of the MPs... Gold megatron is gonna take it to a whole new level!

Please make a silver starscream and a gold bumblebee!

That is the first thing I thought of as well. Just watched that episode a couple days ago. I will for sure have a gold hand on Beachcomber if I ever get one.

I'm thinking this is more in tune with how Megatron had a goldish look in many of the early Marvel comics

This is all very well and good (Repaints are always fun, especially totally out of left field ones like this) but can we get an updated MP Megatron mold, please? This guy hasn't held up anywhere near as well as, say, MP-01 or MP-03, and the Decepticons are seriously under-represented at the moment.

But no, still not milking it, milking it would be if we had like three different repaints and a couple of reissues within the first 5 years after the original release.

Replace IDW Bumblebee with Classics Prime.

There are a lot of classics prime figures. Um there's is cloud prime who used this mold , SG PRIME , G1 magnus, too many variants of this mold just for G1 Optimus prime; unlike IDW 'Bee who has been used as night beat, go shooter , carzap, and one or two others I may be wrong so correct me on this .

Didn't the original Megatron toy from '84 have a slight 'smokey tint' to him, which is probably the reason for it's box art colours? I don't think this re-deco will be GOLD gold, like a lucky draw or a 'golden lagoon Megatron' type thing, but just indicative of that look the original had. Plus, this guy has the blue bits instead of red, like Takara's original G1 deco. (I think somebody here mused that may happen)

He looks nice, but I can barely bare my original, If I'm honest Which is a shame...

I think it's metalic gold paint and not gold plastic

Gold chrome is another option, which is GPS-free. But the flaking and scratches...

Um, no. MP Megatron is like 3/4 Unicron's height and is larger than a real Walther P38 in gun mode, so that definitely wouldn't work.

Technically speaking, it's only certain gold plastic that suffers the dreaded syndrome- specifically the type with a metallic "swirl" in it (I must admit, I'm a bit concerned about my Prime Soundwave and mum's Cyberverse DOTM Prime's backpack). To the best of my knowledge, the gold plastic that caused so much grief has long fallen out of use.

This remind me of the DOTM Evolution of Megatron 2 pack.

I'll pass on this one, unless there's some mad clearance going on. Right now, I'm selling some stuff for a FortMax.

Since I've sold my MP-05 a few years back, they'll have to use a pretty good picture to make me part with my sock-wearing ways.

There is a new picture of the MP-05 Golden Megatron at site sponsor's Big Bad Toy Store on the toy's page.

This is a picture of the toy in the plastic casing, giving us the best idea of the final product. Of note, the orange plug is not attached to the end of the gun (which may change if the toy is exported to the US), and aside from the gold, another deco change includes purple highlights around the abdominal area.

Pre-MP10 MPs don't make the cut for me anymore (besides, maybe, for Grimlock).

Grimlock looks pretty good- depending on how big you like your Dinobots he could fit in a Classics collection. MP-01 is pretty dated but all things considered is very impressive (and his robot mode proportions still look really nice even today). The pre-11 Seeker mold wasn't terribly G1 (as this was before Takara had settled on a "mission statement" for the MP line beyond "Really complicated and high end Transformers, wheeeee!") but engineering wise is pretty identical to MP-11 (arm cannon mounts and hip-pods aside) and I would kinda like to track down the original Japanese release of MP-03 as a standalone figure. As an MP representation of G1 Starscream he's pretty meh, but as a concept piece and a standalone figure in his own right he's actually not that bad. Also he's a perfectly scaled 1/60 F-15 (which I suppose applies to MP-11 too) so there is the chance for some fun options with other 1/60 scale mecha (PG Gunpla, some Macross figures etc).

I dunno, I'll always like Stargreen.

i think ive already covered my personal views on MP05, BUT i dont hate it. quite the contrary. yes it has many flaws, but i dont regret buying it.

but like i said, this gold version better blow my socks off. it doesnt really....

I do, too. He just has no place in my collection with the advent of the rebooted MP line.

To those who dont like this, if Takara said they had sorted the balance issues, given him more rigid joints and beefed up the weaker parts would that change your mind?

I like MP Megatron but I already have one and he isn't currently on display due to only having so much room. This will be another MP I skip.

It's not that I don't like it, it's just that it has no place in my collection, and I think the $200 is better spent elsewhere. I'm not sure improved joints or balance would fix that underlying issue.

I've been looking for the CH-02 for a reasonable price... that's probably the best movie Megatron we're going to get, especially now that we have Galvatron on the scene.

If your going to do it, do in Gold Chrome like a Lucky Draw ... But then again, give us a better , more in scale Megatron for MP-10.

This is too weird to ignore. I really don't get it, but I'll buy one. If the feet and joints hold up better on this one, that'd be pretty cool.
