Thanks to fellow Seibertronian Sabrblade, we now know of the next Beast Wars MP Takara has for us. It is none other than MP-34S Shadow Panther. Dengeki Hobby had the exclusive scoop with images you can see below. This is a recolour of MP-34 Cheetor and is an MP intepetation of the original toy, D-7 Shadow Panther, which you can see here, which was a redeco for the original Beast Wars Cheetor toy.

In Japan, it will be a Takara Tomy Mall exclusive with a late August release for 8,000 yen. For westerners, this simply means to expect a slightly higher price tag than the original MP and that it will be available at local online collector stores without the usual option to import directly from Japan.

It comes with a different accessory that the original MP Cheetor did no have, the mutant mask. It also comes with two versions of the long-range comm link (one for Beast Mode and one for Robot Mode) that Rhinox made in Episode 3 "The Web" (we saw prototypes of these before). Just as with the MP Optimus Primal redeco, it seems Takara is keeping the mutant masks for the redecos. Does that mean we can expect an MP Beast Wars Grimlock featuring a mutant head after the MP Dinobot toy comes out?

I really hope they don't just recolor Cheetor into Tigatron. Tigatron should be a heavy remold if possible, or an entirely new mold. Tigers aren't cheetahs and with the level of amazing accuracy they have achieved with Cheetor, Optimus Primal and Dinobot, it'd be really disappointing if they recolored Cheetor into Tigatron.

I'm pretty geeked about MP-34S. Shadow Panther was such a cool variant 20+ years ago. Looking forward to adding him to my collection.

It obviously won't be - if they follow the design ethos of the rest of the bw mp's. So far they have striven for show accurate robot modes, with as close to show accurate beast modes taking equal priority. The biggest part of that is keeping the bot modes in scale with each other. Tigatron was much larger than Cheetor in the show, so if anything, he would likely be an upscaled remold of the mp cheetor figure.

Looks great, but I don't know if I want that figure though, some of Cheetor's parts were a little too small and fragile looking (starring at you parts in his shoulder joints :-x

) Mask looks so killer though 8-)

Personally, i think we'll have a new mold Iigatron. Same engineering and transformation, but new parts and bigger. His beast mode was entirely different from Cheetor, and his bot mode is significantly larger. Given Tskara's choice of toon-accuracy, i don't think they'll do it otherwise. I would be quite disappointed.

OT: Interesting repaint. Doesn't look bad but it's not for me.

Agreed! Even disregarding the differences in real life anatomical proportions between cheetahs and tigers, Tigatron's cartoon model had very different proportions from that of Cheetor, with his limbs, head, and torso all being much thicker and shaped differently, and his overall size being larger and more massive than Cheetor's.

If anything, Tigatron needs his own mold, with only his engineering being shared with (if not simply based on) that of Cheetor.

Repaints in beast wars don’t work to well tigertron Figure should be new Figure not repaint of Cheetor Figure mutant mask looks nice but pointless mask was never in show have mutant mask for repaint figure that never appeared in cartoon is excuse try sell repainted Figure with something new fans never saw in show,.

Look another repaint of master piece Optimus figure but he’s grey and white this time he comes with oil tanker trailer not original trailer like Figure of cheetor but repaint of him looks bad looks like ravage at quick glance should have gave new head and kept repaint black figure call him ravage somewhat close to panther figure

Back to Shadow Panther, is it just me, or does he look beefier than Cheetor? I know it's a trick of the lighting and black colors, but he looks beefier.

Nah, it's exactly the same figure. They did cheat a bit with the legs on his back though, photographing him in such a way that the black legs make his torso seem wider.

Never said he actually was beefier, just that he looks beefier.

It looks like either Cheetor cosplaying as Tigatron, or a very young-looking (and disproportioned) Tigatron.

Definitely going to be getting Shadow Panther, but I do wish he had the original toy-style bot face that was less expressive than the MP face and had the big eyes and chin.

Just something to really set it apart from the original aside from just being black and silver.

Yeah, no. Would much rather have gotten Tigatron. The original toys were the same so I'd be willing to bet money the MPs will too.

Tigatron will have different robot and beast heads, and a slightly different fake chest. That's the.
