According to the Hobbymizer Hong Kong Facebook
page, this year's Hong Kong Toy Fair (taking place all of this week, until Thursday 11th) will once more see a special reveal from Hasbro alongside a whole load of officially licensed Transformers merchandise and products.
You might remember that the
2017 edition brought us the official announcement and reveal of both Movie Masterpiece Bumblebee and Transformers: The Last Knight Shadow Spark Optimus Prime. It looks like this year may continue the movie trend with MPM-05 Barricade finally fully shown, plus a special 'secret' second figure to show up - which may very well be MPM-06(?) Ironhide, as previously reported
here. The announcements should take place on Tuesday 9th during a press conference with Hasbro at 5 pm Hong Kong time (4am EST/ 1am PST) so stay tuned to Seibertron.com for the coverage!
Hobbymizer Teaser:
There will be a press conference tomorrow, in addition to known mpm05 roadblocks, there will be a very secret mpm06 global exhibition.
Our Hobbymizer team will be on the scene with you!
What exactly is the mpm06 going to be?

Would be a great choice. I frickin' love movie Ironhide and a Masterpiece figure that really goes all out replicating the character better than any figure has before would be awesome.

Check out the leader class itonhide. That’s a masterpiece to me. No point in wasting more money. Why not do other characters.

As promised
yesterday, the Hong Kong Toy Fair did indeed have the full reveal from Hasbro of figures from the Transformers Movie Masterpiece line - with MPM Bumblebee present as a comparison yardstick - featuring a good look at MPM-5 Barricade (whose thread can be found
here) and the newcomer Autobot heavy weapons specialist: MPM-6 Ironhide!
The images and video below are from the same Hobbymizer Facebook
page that broke the news yesterday, and we hope you can enjoy taking a look for yourselves, as the new Ironhide is compared to Bumblebee and a previous version (the leader class?) of the movie character. What do you think? Join the discussion in the Energon Pub!

My opinion will be reserved until I have seen more pictures, because right now his chest looks stupid, However it may be mis-transformed as many figures have be cursed with in the history of official images.

I really hope this is mistransformed. Ironhide was my favorite character from the live action series and this just doesn't look good. The back is a mess, the chest is a mess, the head sculpt is terrible and his feet are showing in alt mode. If this is really what we're getting then it is in no way a "masterpiece"

I agree. I'm just glad I only knew about this figure a few days ago so I didn't have time to get my hopes up. This is a very disappointing figure. So much arm kibble. The wheels look like they'll hinder the arms. Oh well, more money for other things.

Its like they took a ninja turtle and smashed his face with a sledgehammer. They definitely took a few liberties with the voyager toys to make him more visually appealing.

So, what kind of trickery is going on with the GMC logo on the front of the car, versus the shoulders on bot mode? The logo is split on the shoulders, but appears to be 1 single piece on the car.

Bee was also mistransformed pretty badly when we first got pictures. I think this Ironhide's looking fantastic, though! Properly sized cannons, not much kibble in robot mode, and it looks like he has the movable faceplate gimmick like Barricade. Looking forwards to pictures where he's properly transformed!

He does indeed look better in that official pic, though i'm atill not big on the large panels on his arms, his guns staying attached in vehicle mode, and his toes sticking out from beneath the rear bumper.

I'm sure the cannons can detach from the truck mode, they're just displaying it like that to show off the weapon storage.
Or, as Ironhide would say it, "It's an option."

Fellow Seibertronian Mr Black has sent us word that Hasbro has released the official stock photo of MPM 06 Movie Masterpiece Ironhide. This was posted on the official
Transformers Facebook page along with the words "Ironhide is here and this crafty vet is ready for action". This figure was revealed at the Hong Kong Toy Fair
earlier today where he was shown next to other MPM figures, such as prime and Bumblebee. Him being in between the two when it comes to height suggests that his price may be in between the two as well (around the $90 mark). We do not have a release date for this toy.
We have included a render and screenshot of Ironhide's CG model for you to compare with this toy. Do you find his proportions fine? And is that indeed fake vehicle kibble in robot mode when it comes to the grill? This would not be the first time for Ironhide since the Dark of the Moon leader class figure also had that. Are you ok with this type of kibble on a Masterpiece figure? Let us know in the discussion!

Since you showed off a promo render of Ironhide middle pic, I was wondering if the opening mouth will be a potential hint of the use of a mouthplate feature similar to MPM-4.

I'm concerned about the arms. It looks like they will have the same amount of articulation as the DOTM Iornhide. I will reserve my judgements till I see more in hand images with him properly transformed.

While there is surely mistransformation, the feet being sen in truck mode doesnt appear to be part of that. It really looks like that is exactly what we are getting for those feet. And yup, doesnt really scream masterpiece to have that kind of robo kibble in alt mode.
I share similar feelings to the rest of you, I am not very excited about this release. Looks simpler than the rest and (aside from the colours here being much better) doesnt strike me to be so superior to the leader I aleady have. I know we say that a lot, but it turned out true for Prime, where the previous Leader toy (ROTF) turned out to be better in my opinion than MPM.

Must be fake kibble then, also something too bad for an MP. I get it for MP 10 since the grill totally changes shape from one mode to the next, but here it should be the same parts and we know it can be done from a multitude of previous examples.

Having seen some official pics, he's definitely mistransformed at the show.
What i would like to see is a picture of him next to Optimus, both in vehicle mode, to see how well they scale. Since the Topkick is quite a large vehicle, even next to Optimus's truck mode. the picture next to Bee makes him seem a bit small.

Yeah I'm hoping that torso is mistransformed cos it doesn't really work as it is there. There's parts of the figure I like a lot and the vehicle mode is nice but yeah I wanna see more pics first. Maybe it was transformed by someone not all that familiar with the CGI model. Cos those hood sections really gotta fold inwards diagonally towards the center.
william-james88 wrote:but it turned out true for Prime, where the previous Leader toy (ROTF) turned out to be better in my opinion than MPM.
I prefer the MPM in many ways. Not least cos it managed to get rid of most of the backpack. And also doesn't keep telling you who he is when you're transforming it.

I got it! They're the same pieces, but the grill pieces have been flipped around. I faintly spot something that looks like a metal rod on his right (image's left) side, plus panel lines are somewhat evident:

He looks a bit better when not doubling over in pain. Severe lack of paint on him though. Those dull gray rotors are... Ew. I know he's got a disfiguring scar across his right eye, but it really doesn't come across on the toy. Looks more like he was left in the sun too long. Kind of wish they'd just given him his concept art head instead.

This might be enough to replace my customized leader Ironhide figure from dotm. The overall accuracy over gimmicks make this look much nicer and the cannons look good to. Truck mode suffers a lot from the cannons though it seems with how the cannons attach. Still seems that under-carriage will be the same regardless but hopefully not as bad as dotm.

TRU's future is pretty uncertain for sure, so they're probably avoiding making claims that may hurt them should the worst come to pass. Plus, it prevents sudden uncertainty that would make any fan's hair stand upright.

I'm sold. Pics show a prototype with a rush-job on the painting (prob to get ready for the exhibition). Finished product will look much better.
Gripes: lack of visible shoulder articulation (not to say there isn't any, just none that I can see with the wheel in the way); bumper-toes (bot kibble in alt mode); jaw movement looks muppet-like
Plusses: real close to cg model, esp the guns; cannons look removable (not sure though); clever use of door panel hinge integrated with cannon in bot mode; metal feet for stability; apparently, there is a grill gimmick that splits the GMC in half in bot mode, but remains a single piece in alt mode; little/no back kibble (alt mode parts fit in well with bot mode).
My poor wallet!

No matter how many times I look at that 'face' on Ironhide (or Ratchet, or many of the others), I'm never sure exactly what it is I'm supposed to be seeing. It's like Ironhide has the power to make every photo of his face go out of focus on purpose. I've never been a big fan of the bayverse look, especially with the toys. For all the detail and complexity, they still somehow convey the impression that the designers gave up half way through the design process.

Looks like it, you can see part of the door at the back of his arm near his elbow, but the part that should be at his hand is missing, probably to make it easier to see the hand.
His shoulders being on his back is very hard for me to overlook, it's a terrible place for his arms to stick out of. I'm fine with them being angled backwards, but this is too far. But I guess he doesn't need to do much more than point his big guns so maybe it isn't that bad. Really need to mull this one over.
