Eh, I'll believe it when I see it. That's not to say that the "source" is lying.
I just have bad luck when it comes to believing this stuff.

Ah so that could be the reason why I managed to nab the Protoform Prime and Screamer figure in my local Target store...

even if the street date is lifted, it'll be months before I see them here, my local TRU and Wal Marts have to first get rid of tons of Cybertron and Classics stuff that never moved...
Could this mean clearance sales on TFs in the near future?

The protoforms were officially released on May 2nd, they are pretty much everywhere by now.
EDIT: Sorry double post, my bad.

TF Classics are already on clearance for 30% off at Target.

That's awesome. I'm sick of going to Wal-mart and seeing the same fifty figures. And I think they have to update and put the movie stuff out...I remember something about Hasbro actually sending reps around this time to check.
PS: Skowl, I love the sig. Good work.

All the Target's in my area have the TF's on clearance and just got the Protoform figures..most of the stores around here are so far behind the rest of the country I'll be lucky to see ANY TF toys before UNDERDOG comes out in August...

I see these hitting Target first, considering the clearance sales and the almost empty TF pegs at my stores (excluding the preview figs of course). So, yeah, I kinda believe this. Of course, the same thing could happen to me that happened when I found Spider-Spud. He was on display, but Wal-Mart's computers said "NO SALE" when I scanned it at check out (this was a while back)!

I assume that cases of the toys may still be or have been marked as do not sell before June 2nd. So if the sell date has been lifted I somehow doubt the stores will be aware of this. Unless you have a store in your area that has no regard for such things.

I'm sure I'll be waiting until June 2nd anyway. Hell, the only local store that's bothered to stock the protoforms is TRU, and even they took down their display of protos last week only to put it back up this weekend.

I believe it is quite true. Today, my brother picked up Bumblebee & Jazz at Target. When we went back though, they removed what they put out. Probably figured out they put 'em out too early. Anyways, I got Jazz & Bumblebee.

I think we just have some over zealous department managers at some of the stores, who after setting out some of the back stock figures, or all... are getting reamed a little from their managers...ofcourse, hasbro doesn't have a secret police that can really view if they are selling them or not, but then again, i think the genreal rule is one per customer and only set out a few releases early to entice buyers and collectors.. its seen as common place, with the big drop midnight open doors thing still to come, remember this is sort of Steven Speilberg's star wars epic trilogy, so he can get his face on the perverbial Mt Producermore next to george Lucas...Plus Hasbro likes the midnight madness drop the bomb date sales too, the publicity is enormous, and heightens the sales of their toys, they know, they did it with star wars plenty of times... so i highly doubt the ban was lifted.. I'll confer with my sources...

If by the preview figs you mean the protoforms then they are already here...scoot on over to the wichita walmarts/targets and you will find pegs full.
no luck on the rest of them though

As someone who has worked at both Best Buy and EB Games and dealt with a LOT of street dated product, I am gonna call this rumor possible...but EXTREMELY unlikely. Sometimes, with a game or movie, if a store breaks a street date the company will lift it for everyone. This isn't usually true of HUGE releases though. Usually when they have events planned like midnight openings the date sticks and the offending stores are severely penalized by the manufacturer (loss of product...delated product etc.)and the corporate offices of the offending company (usually termination of the associate and store manager). It depends on what the mfr. decides to do with the date.

Ain't that the truth! I've been to numerous store in Chicago and the outlying, but haven't seen Devastator or the Alts. Anywhere. My local Target had the Skywarp/Magnus pack for three days and then pulled them. I did find one TRU that had millions of protoforms, but I already got them online, which I had to do for the Walmart Alts and Devastator as well.
Then again, it is curious that Target has Classics on clearance so soon after they were released......

Bingo. The releases we have seen are nothing more than employees and managers breaking street date to help get a few extra sales at this slow time in between lines. Nothing more. Sure your store might be one of the few that decides to pop out a case early, but don't bet on it.

"hasbro doesn't have a secret police that can really view if they are selling them or not"
Actually, in a way, they do. Hasbro has reps that go to some stores, mainly TRU to make sure that product is set up, being promoted, and stocked correctly. Sometimes they also help the store employees in these efforts. If these people were in the know when they visited a store selling figures early I'm sure that they could request them to be removed for the time being.
I know this because we would get these people in my TRU when I worked there a few years ago. Hasbro was one of the companies that had people out there from time to time.

So I was just poking around on eBay to see how widely available these toys already were and there's like 8 pages of listings going for insane prices. It would be cool if Hasbro did lift the date and then these prices would look even more rediculous.
