If you look closely enough you can see the silhouette of the lion head on his chest. It seems a bit small if I'm honest, but overall I'm just glad to see that Razorclaw isn't too small.

How much you wanna bet Headstrong and Tantrum only got their names back thanks to a "Predacon" prefix, after "Headlock" and "Torox"? Not that I mind that :)

From the silhouette it's quite surprising Predaking looks proportionate. I wonder how they did the torso Razorclaw?

I’m not ready for the complaints about how hallow he looks or his fingers are one solid piece with a knuckle hinge like devastator.

People just need to accept cost limitations

It is just me, or does the cannon on his arm look like a giant Prime Master shell gun mode?

I don't know, I don't see the sticker sheet

What I do see is slight variations in brightness, the image is not 100% black throughout.

I have tentatively high hopes for this.

While I like my MMC Predaking, I feel that at this point, something with better engineered hips in combined mode could well replace it.

Looks promising so far, not weirdly bloated or blocky like I was expecting! Elbows look kinda strange, but there's not much to be seen from this. Hyped for the full reveal!

I can barely make out the shape and size of Razorclaw's lion head... and it look really tiny! With the mane it could be covering the chest, but the abdomen would be left bare.

I'll take it! It will be nice to have an official updated Predaking. Just like Devy, I'll take whatever limitations where imposed on the individuals as long as the combined mode is fun, since that's what he will be in 90% of the time.

So is it just me or does the scaling seem really off? They said it's 5 voyager figures but unless the limbs make up the entire leg (not just knee down) and the arms make up a bit of the torso Razorclaw is going to be MASSIVE and Divebombs wings will be too big for his body.

Should be the star, as, if it's anything like the others, this should be out at the beginning of summer, so it should be a near production model I think.

Looking good. The torso appears to extend which probably would keep Razorclaw just a bit bigger than the rest, not necessarily Leader sized. Between the extending torso and non-integrated feet he should be more than capable of getting to Devastator's 18". One advantage these guys have is they don't need extra joints to form their combiner parts (aside from maybe Razorclaw) so they should have normal articulation and no missing standard joints like elbows.

I agree that we should be seeing this at Toy Fair. Hopefully Hasbro gives us a preview Friday.

Directly from the floor at Times Center in New York City, at the Hasbro showroom part of New York Toy Fair 2018, we have a couple of Power of the Prime full reveals at least, as seen in the panel coverage posted here.

In this post, we share his majesty Predaking, the fully combined Predacon team, consisting of the five voyagers Divebomb, Headstrong, Rampage, Tantrum Torox, and team leader Razorclaw. We have a couple of shots from the table, though better galleries will appear later this evening, including close ups of the limbs and the table's surroundings. Check it out below, and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub!

I don't mind him. He's definitely slimmed down since his G1 days, which makes me wonder if Hasbro is now into body shaming (considering poor Moonracer and her Prime Master gimmick)

But it isn't good at all. The individual robots and beasts look like trash, the combined mode is a mess proportionally, there's stickers everywhere because apparently tampographs ain't in the budget anymore, the fingers are inexcusable for that size, and there isn't even a sword.

Generations is dead.

But hey, at least the Studio Series looks good.

After seeing Hasbros official pics of Predaking, I retract my earlier statement.

It looks like they've modelled him on the Kre-O version. And I don't know how they did it, but they've made the individual modes blockier than G1.

The toy does indeed seem to be missing a sword. I suppose it shouldn't be surprising. None of the PotP combiners have had dedicated weapons so far. This may just be the direction Hasbro decided to go.

So is this Onyx exclusive to Predaking or is this our only Onyx and we wont get one with a shell?

I like these, I'd say they're on par with what we've gotten from the rest of Prime Wars. They aren't MPs, we should have always expected beasts just as unarticulated as Alpha Trion. After what Hasbro did to Devastator this feels like an improvement. I do hope Takara Tomy repackages him for Unite Warriors being a Titan (like they did with Trypticon for Legends) and toss in some weapons (like they did for Devastator).

That was a product of the time. If they’re not doing it for any of the power of primes figure they’re not gonna do it for predaking. It’s not happening. If it shares the gimmick of enigmas and primemasters you can guarantee it’ll be in the same box and be the same toy. Just like how it’s been going and just like Trypticon was.

I'm not really impressed, but I don't hate it. These displays do tend to be inaccurate, so I'm not too worried about small details. He seems like he's too slim, maybe because Razorclaw's torso mode is mistransformed? It seems he got stretched out while the limbs became more compact. I reserve judgment until I see clearer pictures or a video review. I also want to see comparison shots with the other combiners, especially Devy.

Those Predacon altmodes give me actual physical pain.

I try not to make negative posts, but seriously it’s been 34 years, you’d think they could make something other than bricks on sticks.
Re: Transformers: Power of the Primes Predaking Listing Online (1939841)
Posted by partholon on February 17th, 2018 @ 4:16pm CST
have to say im not impressed . im looking at my G1 predaking on my desk every day and he's a far beefier affair than this effort.

but even on simple things, wheres the spiked knuckle dusters on his fists?

the display is a dark nightmare of garish colours so maybe its taking away from his look but considering how far engineering has come on TF its sad to say how lack luster these guys look. i mean its essentially the same thing - voyager sized figs that combine - and the ancient one does it better.

im FAR more interested in abominus at this stage (and picking up that studios grimlock figure, christ what a fig THAT is. i keep hearing hound from the G1 cartoon in my head "that ones a walking fang factory!" :) )

more and more im wondering if they missed a trick and shouldnt have made the dinobots the voyager combining fig and gone the deluxe/voyager route with the preds.

ah well least he's coming out for those that didnt get the reissue. i dont want to seem nonplussed, ive bought more figs in the last 2yrs than the last 20.

I've been thinking about this, and I believe - but this is just me thinking as I've been looking at screen all day while on call with people in the US - that this might be the G1 a small lot of fandom has been asking for.. and the team has tipped too far into.

Meaning they effectively look the same as G1, just with maybe a couple more joints? I liked the general look of Devastator more, that also did a similar thing, but this just feels.. eh.

A couple more joints wouldn't explain that waist line though.

Apparently G1 Predaking was too fat for modern day Hasbro body shaming developers.

Posted by The_Cryptid_Person on February 17th, 2018 @ 4:29pm CST
Predaking looks better than I expected TBH. Not bothered by the torso or wings being so blocky, or the monojointed fingers. What DOES get me is his lack of a sword, or even spiked knuckles, and how compromised the individual beasts are. Was really hyped about this (loved UW devastator, and the inclusion of Onyx Prime worked well with my headcanon), but now the KO 3P version seems like the better package. Not being a child of the 80s, Hasbro’s g1 toy replication just isn’t hitting home for me.

Gotta agree with va'al, I think that they went too far in a few places aesthetically. The beast modes look like cartoons, all bulbous and weird, not in keeping with the general aesthetic of the line. Not too mention that his combined mode's head looks like a knock-off upscale of the original, it doesn't look right for how large he is...
