Thanks to a heads up from Seibertronian Reluctantyouth, we have news that the Power of the Primes voyagers have apparently gone on sale!
This news comes from a Walmart in Peoria, Illinois, where a voyager Starscream was found for the amazingly low price of $10! Compared to the original $24.97, that is quite the drop. The tag also makes sure to say "Generations Voyager," meaning this is not merely just for Starscream, though the argument could be made the sale price is to help move Starscreams that won't budge from the shelves.
With this new sale found, will you dare venture to your own Walmart and investigate? Does this sale price finally convince you to pick up a Starscream, or maybe a Grimlock or other voyager if luck is on your side? Let us know in the comments section below!

Snarl is part of the new Power of the Primes line, transforming into a red, silver, and gold Stegosaurus and is a combiner limb for the Dinobot combiner Volcanicus. He is the fourth Dinobot of the line to get a video following Slash, Slug, and Sludge. The video, like the previous videos, gives us a quick at the design process, going from grey model to a final toy. You can check out the video by checking it out below or by following the link to the Transformers Instagram or Facebook pages.
So what do you think of this Snarl? Are you enjoying these designer desk videos? Let us know in the comments section below!

That's not how it works, as far as I know. Clearance has always seemed like the Walmart word for sale

Tons of people reporting $30 Rodimus Unicronuses also reported that Leaders were eliminated from the new layout in their Walmarts. Movie toys were just clearanced. TR was just clearanced. These aren't items that are coming back.
So yeah, Rollbacks are their 'sales'.

I've only seen Starscream twice in stores and that was back in early March, maybe even February. I got mine for $16 on Amazon which I think is fine, but I'm glad I wasn't enticed into paying full price. Now Grimlock, I sure would like to find him at retail price or less. I'm thinking I might just pass on Sludge and Snarl if I'm going to have to pay out the nose for Grimlock.
All Leaders are pretty much non-existent around me too.

It's either :
There are bands of scalpers gobbling up all the "we want figs" or Hb did another clusterfrack in distribution!

Or he's just another figure that's not selling as well as his wavemates - those happen all the time (Twinferno is probably a good recent example). I don't think there's really any way Hasbro could've reasonably packed less of him per case than they were already doing, and still actually distributed the toy.
Now as for whether it was a good call putting him in Wave 1 - the wave that almost certainly every store will get in large amounts - that's definitely up for debate, but I don't think this is exactly a distribution disaster on par with TLK or anything like that.

Its worth checking the more far flung Walmarts.
My take is that this is to make room and shrink the footprint of the Transformer shelf space in favor of summer/movie toys coming in. Between Avengers, Antman 2, Incredibles 2 and Hotel Transylvania they'll be a lot of competition for shelf space this summer.

Actually, they very well might stop carrying that assortment, at that particular store. Clearances are done at the store's discretion, meaning it's not across the whole chain. Rollbacks or sales tend to be more coordinated, but some can be store-specific.
Remind me to ask my father-in-law who works there.

I assume you are referring to how the toys ship from the warehouse, not the packaging of the toys themselves?? -It could be, I don't know, but I do know that while some fans said there was nothing to be worried about with the Studio series taking up shelf space that could otherwise be used for PotP, I can say, this is NOW a legitimate concern of mine. I know this is supposed to be a *Best of the Best* from all 5 movies but...lets be honest, while I never collected any Movie based toys, the lines for the first 3 films seemingly sold fairly well, the last 2 however (AoE & TLK), were way overproduced and shelf warmed to near disgusting levels. Heck there are still some TLK toys clogging shelves of Targets, the only reason walmart got them out is because they clearance them out at up to 70% off. Hasbro should have taken a break with the movie line, I mean BB toys will probably start showing up around October. We could have enjoyed PotP until then. Of course I expect to see RiD15 toys on clearance next because those fugly Cyberverse toys I know are coming .
Studio series arrived way quicker, and in much greater quantities than I expected, and funny enough, they aren't moving.

No, I mean the actual windowed boxes that the individual figures come in. They all have a white band to the side with red "Transformers" lettering.

The previous films also sold terribly. They are notorious for still having stck from a previous movie line when the new movie rolls out, which did not happen with AOE and TLK.
Here are a few shelfwarmers for you
Also, FYI,the Bumblebee movie toys deluxes/voyagers/leaders will be part of the studio series line so there wont be an issue for shelfspace (if there is one).

Good to know the BB toys wont be another separate line. Also, we both agree Movie toys sold terribly, and were overproduced. The only difference is that there were 3 years between AoE and TLK, and there were only 2 years between the previous films, so obviously there was more spillover. Also I think more affirmative clearance was done by the last 2 movie lines to try to get them out of the stores, but like I said, TLK toys are still around. Also the other movie lines had additional assortments even after the movie was long gone, not so for AoE & TLK, those toys were bad enough, didn't need more of them.

2 weeks ago I walked into a walmart where I do my grocery shopping. They had a case fresh set of deluxes (8) Studio series. Yesterday I walked into the same walmart, after 2 weeks, the only difference was that some of the packaging had been beat up (especially one of the Bumblebees), but none of the 8 deluxes had been purchased. Oh and they got in SS Voyagers, that was new.

Upon first seeing this news, I thought I'd buy Starscream and skip Grimlock, but watching a couple of review videos last night made me flip-flop- Starscream looks not-bad in bot mode, but jet mode is just weak. Grimlock looks good in dino mode, and great in bot mode. Going to grab him, and if it's at $10, better.

And I've only seen a single SS Crowbar too. A lot of the stores around me have surplus Dreadwinds, legends, and Prime masters, but the voyagers have gone quickly and the leaders are nonexistent, for either line.

By "popular", he means that Jazz and the Dinobots were all bought but not Dreadwind.WreckerJack wrote:That is Dreadwind. I don't see a single Jazz in that pic. (Unless you have yet to post it.)
And, yeah, Dreadwind wasn't a cartoon character, Will, so it makes sense that he gets left behind.
Posted by o.supreme on May 4th, 2018 @ 9:16am CDT
Yeah I kind of had the same experience with Dreadwind. I saw a whole 4 of him at one store one time! (The most I've ever seen). He's definitely a shelf warmer (not saying you are wrong wj, just again pointing out the disparity between in stock PotP in Canada vs U.S. For me, seeing 4 of anything (other than Prime Masters) is almost unheard of thus far.

WreckerJack wrote:That is Dreadwind. I don't see a single Jazz in that pic. (Unless you have yet to post it.)
Yeah, thats wht I mean, he isnt there proving that he must be popular. And assuming some Dreadwinds sols (I know i bought one from that place), then it must mean there were a ton of cases and all those Jazzes sold super well.
And Sabre, this brings about a good point. I always supported the idea that Hasbro made toys primarily for kids and that the older fans were but a subset of the market. If the reason for Dreadwind not selling is because he was not in a 30 year old show, then that means that this show is a determining factor and not just the toys themselves, and yet I am assuming little kids havent watched G1 enough to know who Jazz is. So these toys must be bought mainly by fans. Is that wrong to assume? Or maybe its just because cars are cooler than planes or the MAGA thing made him more collectable (like the time suddenly everybody ws walking into a comic shop because there was a cover of Obama and Spider-man).

o.supreme wrote:Well I could see that perhaps with the Voyagers. But the Deluxes for SS are boxed while for PotP they are carded, its a pretty big difference. Also the Price Points are different, as is the SKU (even though they are both labeled as Generations). I would hope most retailers would know the difference.
And yet, I went to a Target a few days ago to find them completely out of PotP deluxes, but the pegs for the PotP deluxes were filled with SS deluxes. If they are filling an empty peg, it doesn't even matter if they look similar or not, the general name would be enough to confuse an employee that is not a TF expert like most of us collectors are.

ok I'm confused now. Do the Studio Series deluxe Boxes even have plastic peg holders (like TLK packaging?), every Walmart I've been to, they just put the box on a shelf, not hanging them on pegs....I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the packaging since they really don't interest me. If they do that's even worse. Stores are going to be clogged with these things and PotP will get choked out.

Yes, the Studio Series deluxe class figures have plastic peg holders.

He's been in the Marvel G1 comics, the BotCon Classics comics, Regeneration One, parts of IDW G1, and a few minor things.WreckerJack wrote:They should have included him in a comic or something at the very least.
In fact, he was the longest-running host of the Marvel UK letters pages, from issues 184 to 299, a whopping 116 issues, with Grimlock being second only to him, having hosted the letters pages from 75 to 182 (108 issues). During his tenure of "Dread Tidings", Dreadwind would refer to humans as "humes", made the first indirect reference in the West to Super-God Masterforce airing in Malaysia, and even starred in his own Christmas text story that was a parody of A Christmas Carol.

As an update to Skullgrin he's kinda lame. As a representation of Liege Maximo he's also pretty weak. But as a little sentient "Matrix of Corruption" entombed within a sarcophagus that can also form a "Hand of Command" he's damn cool. Especially for £6.

He'd be a much better Liege Maximo if his 'Matrix' was green, obviously, but that's the issue with most Prime Masters: they are closer to the Pretender character than the Prime they represent. For some it works (see: the upcoming Solus) but for most it doesn't.
