Seibertron.com has received news that
Hasbro will be designing Transformers rotocast figures.
If you are not familiar with rotocast, they are PVC figures with realistic coloring and some articulation. Rotocast is commonly used with Marvel and DC Comics superhero characters such as
Spiderman.
Our source at Hasbro has told us that the figures will likely be based on the
Transformers Movie characters. They will be either 6” or 12” tall and they may be released under the banner of the Transformers video game as well as the movie line. The figures are in the pre-approval stages so we will keep you posted with the latest developments.

I actually like this idea. They shoulbe fairly inexpensive. I would love to see a series of G1 figures done in this format.

So they take up a lot of space AND they don't transform? Two reasons not to try to squeeze them into my already overflowing bedroom. Still, 'big', 'cheap' and 'looks like the guy from the film' are factors for a lot of kids (and parents) so they should do well despite being... gulp... oversized Action Masters.

Not a bad idea for some of the humans characters. I'd get those.

Non transforming, robot mode figures... yeah great idea. If it isnt a statue, or involves some other gimmick (Attacktix) then there really isnt a need for non-transforming Transformers.

I'm quite happy with Revoltech filling my need for non-transforming transformers.

I think its cool, since I won't let my son outside with his high priced transformers, its a great playtime buddy and it even works well in the bathtub, and not to mention is kid friendly from like 3 up to adult, because of the intense detail in these things, and the fact that they are 100% plastic and are almost like solid statues, besides its like a freaking movie traditon to release a big budget Rotocast figure of the villain and hero..Plus his sister can't break it, and he can pretty much take it anywhere..
When i was a kid, i had a huge rotocast Hulk, that had real ripped pants, man i took that guy every where.. he was based on the classic marvel hulk look, and I love d him, even today i have fond memories of him I used to put him on my shoulders and walk around the block.. where my other friends would be like totally wanting my Rotocast hulk.. they always offered some gi Joe figure as a trade, which I wouldn't do ever, until I discovered Megos, and thats a story for another day..

I only buy transforming transformers, as that is the general idea.
