I'm sure you know this but this is based on his G1 inner body and the skull design is his pretender shell.

What does his shell have to do with him being skilled at Metallikato? He would still be the same character and fight as best as he could. The pose here makes him look more like a brawler.
Besides, I'm not wearing my gi but I still know karate.

I don't know every part of his fiction, but wasn't his shell persona more of a samurai, and his inner bot persona more of a wannabe master of dark magic, or just a regular soldier type?

The toy still has an obvious hand. And the Character can have a right hand.

Yes the figure still has a hand, but I thought that they left it unpainted to emulate that the figure has no right hand
The art is just to express the character it represents in a way that they just could not in toy form.

Art always takes liberties with the figures. The original Rattrap figure's card art had his hand on fire. Compared to that, this isn't really a thing.

I didn't notice Impactor's lack of a hand! Kinda weird, but hey, at least it looks mostly like the toy.

So happy to see that the Micron paint apps made it after all. I do wish they had the little transparent gem bits though. My only complaint.
Yah I'm right here with you ... I own every version of the Wreck-Gar mold, Hasbro, Takara versions, repaints, remolds, BotCon versions, etc. I've never had a single one break. Only one that has an issue is the United 3 pack Scrapheap figure (which Tarantulas is a repaint of) has some cracked plastic around the plastic peg that is on his right shoulder where the arm attaches. It came from the factory that way. No other version of this mold has an issue in my collection.

I had the same thing with rattrap, can't hold anything, the hands were miss-measured, it sucks

Looking at the figure's hands, on the outside of each hand are some indentations sculpted to denote all the joints of each finger. On each hand is an indentation that is formed by all four fingers lining up together before veering off in different directions. I've circled this indentation below in red. On the underside of this indentation, within the inside of each hand, is where the stress marks appear, which is also pointed out in red below.Seibertron wrote:Sabrblade wrote:After wielding his Microns in claw mode for a day or two, my Tarantulas already has stress marks on the insides of both of his hands. I haven't had any problems with the Minicons with mine. Nor the ax. But I have heard of instances where people have tried to put the wrong part of the ax in the hands and causing stress marks that way. Only that very bottom of the handle is meant to go in the hands, the rest of the handle is just slightly too wide.
Of course tolerances can vary throughout the production run, so I'm not saying that's what happened with yours. And if it was just a regular 5mm post that did it, I'd like to know. It's always worth taking note of a mold's issues for future reference.

Mine was holding (in each hand) the regular peg that one uses to have a figure wield the Micron in its claw mode.TF_JW wrote:I'm curious what the TFSS 3.0 figure was holding when his hands started to stress.

The longest and bottommost peg touching the ground seen in this image:
I didn't try anything fancy with the figure, just the basic holding of the Microns (one in each hand) as seen in this pic:
After I put the Microns in his hands, I left the figure alone for a day or two, and then came back to it and carefully removed his Microns from his hands to check for any stress marks, and sure enough he had some.

I'm not sure there are any uses left in the mold, but this is definitely something worth considering if there are. Especially if said uses would have any additional accessories again.

As for mine, well, if I can't get a mint replacement, I'm content to having my Tarantulas have proper hands instead of claws since he did have proper hands in "Dawn of Future's Past" (which this figure is meant to theoretically represent, right?):

Which will much easier said than done, since the pre-orders for most of the combiner (save ruckus and someone els) are already sold out, so he might have to go through even more alternative methods to get them; or hope there's leftover and buy them from botcon next year

Indeed, but I was wondering if TT would release these guys (or verions of these guys) to help fill out the G1 line (either in the tav line, or in the legends line), it would get japan the figures (offroad at least), and keep them from having to make new molds for them, since several fit like a glove

I'm trying to say that you CAN'T sign up now. The window for TFSS 2016 registration closed back in September, and there's no 2017 subscription to sign up for yet. It's not something that one can sign up for any time of the year. It's only open for a certain period of time during a particular time of year.Stealth Claw wrote:Sabrblade wrote:The deadline for the first payment of next year's subscription service expired back on September 1st. My experience from pricing it out seems to be that if just a couple of figures you're looking for wind up sold individually on the club store, the membership plus the price of a couple of figures beats going secondary for everything.

You also first have to sign up for the Club before you can sign up for the subscription service since the SS is for Club members only. But do so before March 16 if you want to get the membership incentive figure of that year. So if you sign up before March 16 of 2016, you get the 2016 incentive figure. But if you sign up after March 16, 2016, you get the 2017 incentive figure.
And Club membership requires annual payment so you have to pay every year to stay a member.

Whatever dude. Mine's got no misassemblies and no looseness that I can determine, and frankly with how many uses this mold has had looseness should be expected. That mine is one of the good ones should bring hope to people rather than deter it since it means that any QC issues with this one are not universal.Hellscream9999 wrote:Kinda makes you glad you payed so much for them, and reassures me that I was right to not go in on thunder mayhem; imagine what would happen if the thin and brittle plastic breaks around onslaughts connector ports
I get it. It's easy to complain about QC issues that occur with expensive Fun Pub figures, but really, our money isn't going into a higher degree of production quality control. It's going into premium decos produced at a much smaller, limited run. Yes, it's unfortunate when QC issues arise, but these things happen. It's the same as when they happen on a mass retail figure, only that those are less expensive for us to purchase given their large production run. If these weren't as expensive as they are would there still be as much grief about the Fun Pub toy QC issues compared to that about mass retail toy QC issues? Masterpieces are likewise expensive collector pieces with limited production runs and those have suffered some QC issues as well, yet there isn't nearly as much vitriol given towards them when MP toy QC issues arise as there are when Fun Pub toy QC issues arise.
As I said, this one is not a universally flawed figure, and none of the other TFSS 3.0 toys had any widespread QC issues to speak of besides Nacelle (whose issues were quite minor in the grand scheme of things). Why not commend something when it's done right rather than expect something to always be done wrong? That doesn't sound healthy to be honest.
