And talk about out of left field! The figures revealed include US releases of the Takara exclusive Street Fighter figures released years ago using Titans Return and Thrilling 30 figures. But the main attraction has to be the release of a Tonka x Hasbro collaborative Devastator, which is G1 Devastator decorated up as a set of Tonka construction vehicles, complete with Autobot symbols. This might be the rumored project: yellow figure as well, though we have no confirmation on that yet.
These figures should be going live on Target's website around 9 AM eastern time, though as we know, Target's systems could be finnicky and we might have to keep watch throughout the day to secure our orders.

To answer your question, $104.99.
the price is not too unfair imho, but still not worth the investment for me. I have the last Devy re-issue, and I literally just sold off my street fighters, so I'm good passing on all of these.

The Street Fighter sets are still being sold in 2 packs, while Tonka Devastator is 1 big set.
The Autobot Hot Rod Ken vs. Arcee Chun-Li set is set at $74.99, the Optimus Prime Ryu vs. Megatron M. Bison set is $112.99, and Tonka Devastator is $104.99. You can see the links below for the listings for the sets.

For Devastator Tonka Deco I agree. I was also about to agree for the Street Fighter toys as well, but it seems Hasbro being able to offer these directly has kept cost down somewhat. Still in light of these being based on toys from 4 years ago, with the tools already made, but cost of materials going up, I guess it's an even trade.
Lastly, depending truly if these are leftovers, or newly made toys, the originals went on sale before leaving most online retailers. Unless Hasbro's quantities are extremally in short supply there is a good chance these will go on sale as well. I just dont see Street Fighter as a hot IP right now.

Since they're calling it Street Fighter II and not trying to keep up with the hype and calling it Street Fighter VI it'll probably just be the same box with a slip cover/outer box, Hasbro loves those.
The $30 mark up on Tonkanator over the $75 price that the reissue from 2019 is a blatant cash grab on Hasbro's part. There's no way it costs that much more to produce in three years, especially when they own Tonka so there's no gratuitous license fees involved this time.
Shame it looks like the Tonka logo is tampographed on rather than a sticker, they really didn't want people using this as G2 Devastator. I kinda like the use of black instead of purple, though there are G2 KOs that do the same thing.

I would have definitely preferred the Titan remold for the simple reason that it was never repainted before.
The last Walmart reissue of the G1 constructicons were 100$CAN and I thought that was expensive. At 110$US, I can't imagine what the Canadian price will be. 170$CAN?

Because reusing the G1 mold for the 999th time is easy mode.

The G1 molds also fit much better with the original Tonka GoBots molds, as I feel like the names are meant to sound vaguely GoBots-y.-Kanrabat- wrote:D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Flashwave wrote:Question: would anyone besides myself have been more excited if Tonkastator had been on the Titan mold than G1? Yes, do you? They were $75 in 2019, there's no way they've gone up $30 in 3 years. Even Encore in 2011 and 2013 could be had for $70 at the right shop at Japanese prices. I didn't hesitate to order it, which probably makes me part of the problem, but at the same time I want more reissues and want to support them. It's not a great situation that Hasbro puts us in sometimes.

I suppose next, Hasblo will release a set of smaller-than-the-original, green, plastic faux-Tonka trucks with a Deception symbol on them and charge $100 a pop too?
We can easily get KO Yellow Devastators too:

I'm sure I've seen the G2 version "knocking about" fairly often too.
As for the SF2 figs, I passed on those when they were released domestically, so I'm not bothering with them now. They look bloody awful.

Now THAT I'd buy.
Devastator was always one of my favorites, but we've moved on from G1 toy design limitations. The individual members should be at least be fully articulated Core class bots by now.
Hasbro isn't even trying and doesn't care who knows.
Posted by Grahf_ on June 24th, 2022 @ 6:56pm CDT
And I couldn't care less for more G1 reissues. I've moved past G1 figures a long time ago. I had them, I loved them, I no longer need/want them. But it's great for those of you who still want them. I just can't wait for this to go on steep clearance just like all the reissues did except for Ultra Magnus, Rodimus Prime, PMOP and maybe one or two others over the two decades or so they've been doing them outside of Japan.
I'm like some of the others who have commented and would've been down for Tonkanator done from UW Devastator. UW over CW of course as it seems Hasbro doesn't shy away from Takara toolings anymore.
So these are all easy passes for me but not because I don't like them.
I wonder if Hasbro will be reissuing the Takara Star Wars Transformers. Not because I don't have them already but because Han and Chewie are some of my favorite female Transformers and others need to own them. Yes, they're female lol. Han has a HUGE monoboob shelf and not in a Jazz or Prowl kind of way but an Arcee kind of way. It even has high heels and what could pass for Anode's head. Chewie's torso and head looks feminine to me as well. They both have hot pants on too. Chewie also has the open hand like the Rust Renegades. Han has inward elbow joints to have hand on hip poses. Just a little fun but they are indeed female in my collection. They are good toys along with Darth Vader though. And Chewie doesn't crumble to dust.
Oh wait no sorry, they can't bring them over. They have waffles and hollow forearms where the hands were. I don't think the fandom is ready to know that their lords and saviors at Takara do that even without Hasbro involvement. Some still don't acknowledge that waffling isn't new and has been around since G1 and that Beast Wars might have some of the most egregious examples. I wonder what they'd think if they found out that intrusive gimmicks are most likely Takara's doing too if Daigunder and Web Diver are any indication. I'm just having some fun again but am kinda serious.

As for the SF figures, I think it's a neat concept, but I don't like the mold or the paintjob for Hot Rod Ken, and the TR Megatron mold just sux, so pass. I wouldn't mind Ryu Prime and Chun-Li Arcee (Chun-cee?) though.
Posted by Sabrblade on June 24th, 2022 @ 9:47pm CDT
A redeco of a vintage mold as all-new characters, and specifically as a construction-themed Autobot combiner. They feel like they could be both direct rivals of Baldigus/Ruination and associates of the Buildmasters/Build Team.
Were I to get this set, I'd put it with my CR/RiD'01 Autobots.

Aren't the new Tonka trucks these days made put of plastic? When I was a kid, they were nearly all sturdy metal and I used to use the dump-truck as an impromptu go-kart down small hills/inclines.

How old are you?
When I was kid, Tonka trucks were indeed made out of pure METAL and were awesome to handle. But that was in the late 1970's and the 1980's. But did they still made metal Tonka trucks in the 1990's? Because I have the impression that it's been decades since Tonka trucks went full plastics.
I tried searching but even Google didn't help at telling when the change was made. Maybe when Hasbro bought Tonka in 1996?

I just bought 2 on target.com so if they look like crap ill return them. What I dont seem to get is $104.00 for 6 constructicons $17.33 each so that's a lot of money? It's on target for Super 7's figures which are around $18.00 each. So these are cheaper. Also, when you look at the detail on figures, I'm actually pretty impressed. I know I'm in the minority here but I actually like this set and I'm looking forward to this at the end of the year. I love anything G1 as long as it's done right!
We don't know how many were sold at Pulse, so your claims about the comments being "in the minority" can't be considered accurate. There could equally have been more people than usual that didn't bother with these toys, but the sales figures can only show who bought them, not how many didn't.
And yes, the price IS a "lot of money", for what are small, simple figures that have been released several times over and have curreny been released with basically a few "Tonka" and Autobot stickers on them. It's not rocket science, kid.

Motormix's drum should have been cast in a different color, though. The mold is set up for it (just look at Diaclone), and it looks better than the monochrome appearance given by casting it in the same color.
It's also unfortunate that they seem to repeat the abusive assembly practices seen on the Vintage G1 'structies.
Everybody saying "I'da bought if it was the Titan version"... Would you really have gone for a novelty like this at $189?
That could well have been a dealbreaker on selling it to kids, who this is mainly aimed at. And aside from the price, doing it with the Titan-class version would have meant stores having to stock TWO Titans.
I'll reiterate that it's a shame the Diaclone plastic sandpit and cardboard girders weren't resurrected for this, they would have gone with it very well.
