I just hope the ride opens before SDCC.

Umm, I think someone made an error. That's Sideswipe, an Autobot.
The average user won't know it but Transformers fans will notice it right off. Also, is that Peter Cullen voicing Optimus Prime? It sounds like someone else doing a Peter Cullen impersonation.

Wheelie called him "Decepticon Sideways." Either this is one MASSIVE continuity error (assuming this takes place during the Bay continuity to begin with [more on that later...]) or SideSWIPE wasn't as good as he believed...or its a new 'Con with an old name.
Anyway, regarding continuity... Where in the continuity does the ride take place? Ironhide gave intel on Scorpinok's tail with "the rest of him...still out there waiting to strike."
Sooo...what happened in ROTF?
Also, Ironhide showed clips from DOTM's Chicago battle as historical footage, I believe. If that's the case, WHY AND HOW IS IRONHIDE STILL ALIVE?
Just where in the timeline does this take place in, if at all?

that would be pretty awesome to walk into

Well, originally, I was thinking between ROTF and DOTM. But now that you've brought this up, I'm gonna now have to guess that it exists within its own micro-continuity separate from (but still inspired by) the main movie timeline.what0080 wrote:Anyway, regarding continuity... Maybe, like everyone else, they are pretending ROTF didn't exist. The only thing ROTF adds to the trilogy is Megatron's revival. Wheelie can be explained the same way they explained Brains, nothing at all, they are just there.
As for Chicago, they probably just show it as another city.

We saw the inside of Prime's chest in Movie 1. No Matrix there.

His chest opens slightly in the movie we don't see deep into him. You can just retcon that Prime always had the Matrix.

At least the events surrounding the Matrix were among the few (and I mean VERY few) exciting points in ROTF.

I agree with you on that but what I mean is that it isn't something that effected the story in DOTM if ROTF never existed. Having Megatron alive and well in DOTM is a huge continuity problem. Prime always having the Matrix, it works.

It will. It's supposed to open in the spring. I'm hoping by March. Haven't watched the que line video yet -not enough time.

But it just makes me happy that they realized that these are some beloved characters that they are using for the ride (except for Wheelie). I can't wait to experience this ride for my self.

They also state Director Michael Bay served as a creative consultant, and voice actors from the films have contributed to the ride.
Lastly they have uploaded a new video!

Since all of the above are dead (or MIA, in Ravage's case) and haven't yet been given any canonical reason for their suddenly being alive, I'd say this ride is OOC with the movies and the accompanying fiction.El Duque wrote:

Deserves some explanation. Like tons of shards of the alspark suddenly reviving them all. And Sideways Escaping for TF4. He is awesome, he needs his own movie.
Ahem.
But maybe this will just be kind of a "Happening inside ROTF" thing?
Makes sense this does not. MMMmm!

I dunno how good animatronic bots would look. And with the complexity of the movie bot designs, ones that look that good would be pretty pricey to make.kirbenvost wrote:I hope there's some actual cool stuff, like animatronic TFs and stuff. Pretty lame if it's all just 3D glasses and screens...

The Disney Imagineers don't seem to have a problem making awesome realistic animatronic designs. They have very convincing Droids at Star Tours, and I had imagined this ride to be a lot like Indiana Jones Adventure or the Dinosaur ride at Walt Dinsey World, where an actual life-sized animatronic dinosaur roars in your face. Obviously TFs are more complex than that but I thought since this is already a multi-million dollar project they could throw in an actual physical TF or two... imagine how cool it would be to see Prime in the 'flesh'? They'd probably do it with Evac since he's the mascot, but man, I would have loved to have seen that, even in the queue or at the end of the ride. As cool as modern 3D can be, nothing compares to seeing something actually there in front of you.

SPOILER ALERT
Los Angeles Times wrote:During the queue pre-show, riders are recruited to join the Autobots in an alien robot showdown with the Decepticons.
The queue winds through the NEST military base, with video screens explaining the ride's back story, and past an AllSpark containment chamber that houses a glowing module containing the source of life for all Transformers.
At the loading station, riders climb into a blue Autobot vehicle known as Evac, which explains the mission: Protect the AllSpark from the Decepticons.
Scene 1: A mechanical Decepticon tiger named Ravage grabs the AllSpark, leaps onto Evac's hood and claws at the passengers. Evac escapes by driving erratically.
Scene 2: Bumblebee, an Autobot that can transform into a Volkswagen Beetle, rescues Evac from the motorcycle-bot Sideways and entrusts the riders to protect the AllSpark. Evac flees the scene by crashing through a wall and plowing through city traffic.
Scene 3: Megatron, leader of the Decepticons, attacks Evac before the Autobots' leader, Optimus Prime, comes to the rescue. During the battle, Evac's riders narrowly escape Grindor's spinning helicopter blades.
Scene 4: Evac drives evasively as Megatron gives chase. The evil robot eventually captures Evac, who struggles and manages to break free.
Scene 5: Riders feel the heat of a tremendous explosion after Megatron fires a missile at Evac, who maneuvers to avoid the oncoming shell. Evac escapes through a hole blown in the side of a building by the missile.
Scene 6: Evac gets sucked into a whirling vortex generated by Devastator, a Decepticon created by combining several robots.
Scene 7: Sideswipe, a Lamborghini Autobot, saves Evac and the pair race through city streets battling Decepticons along the way. During the high-speed chase, Evac fires a weapon at Bonecrusher, a bulldozer Decepticon.
Scene 8: Evac manages to escape a second encounter with Devastator only to be grabbed by Starscream's grappling hook. The F-15 fighter jet Decepticon flings Evac through the air, sending the hero robot crashing into a building.
Scene 9: Optimus Prime and Megatron battle in a showdown between the alien robot leaders.
Scene 10: Autobot helicopters fire on Starscream, giving Evac a brief respite.
Scene 11: In the finale, Optimus Prime and Megatron continue their fight on top of a skyscraper. Falling from the building, Megatron pulls Evac over the edge with him and they hurtle headfirst toward street below. At the last possible moment, Bumblebee leaps up and catches Evac.
Scene 12: With Megatron defeated, Optimus Prime congratulates Evac and the rider recruits on a mission accomplished. With the ride over, Evac heads to the unloading station where the passengers disembark.

Well, it's going to be more than 3D glasses and screens, but whether or not the stuff in between warrants "cool stuff" to you is questionable. LOL. In the 6 minute long video from the 5 news thing (I'm fairly certain it's that one) when they're showing animatics of the ride (when you have 3DS Max Biped looking humans in Evac) you can see the general idea for part of the sets with the military hum-v's and such.
But the latest post might better answer your questions. I won't read it, so I guess this might be my last time in this thread for a while.
edit: oh and to whomever asked about the animation: the models are not as complex in the renders we've seen so far. Even if most of the visual pieces are there, what you see will not look as well animated as the films because less parts will be moving independently, seen in all the close-ups shown in videos thus far. They look very similar, animation wise, to the console RoTF game. IE: instead of having a bunch of parts move, like in the movie, they split the face into more commonly used chunks like "eyebrows" lower lip" "cheek," etc. to lip sync and emote them.

Volkswagen Beetle? Are we sure they actually rode this ride? Because, at last report, this took place in the Bay-verse where Bumblebee is a Chevrolet Camaro (for 3 movies). And "Motorcycle-bot Sideways?" We've already seen that Sideways was An Audi A4 AND a Chevy Corvette Concept (somehow). HOW IS HE A THIRD VEHICLE??!
Scene 7: Sideswipe, a Lamborghini Autobot, saves Evac and the pair race through city streets battling Decepticons along the way. During the high-speed chase, Evac fires a weapon at Bonecrusher, a bulldozer Decepticon.
So, that WAS Sideswipe? Stupid Bay and his misnaming problems. (Devastator/Brawl, anyone?) Also, didn't Optimus Prime slag the ever-loving Pit out of Bonecrusher in the first movie?
So... In or Out-of-Continuity?

No, no...That article just researched the G1 incarnations based on the names (that's why Starscream is said to be an F-15 instead of an F-22)...
And the ride *is* based on the Bay-verse (check the videos), but it's not based on the continuity of the films...Just *inspired* by.

Sideways was originally a Bike from his first appearance in Transformers: Armada, and I will always love that design for him... Where was he a Corvette...? It was probably concept art.
Bumblebee was a Beetle in G1, as seemingly everyone mentioned in this article is.

Yes. That was Sideswipe, he also killed Sideways in ROTF, so I have no clue on how Sideways could be here. (Same with Ravage, he was killed by 'Bee.)
Prime did slag Bonecrusher by chopping his head off. Although in is second rendition as a Toy, it said he limped from that battle away to the amazon where he just was funin' around.
what0080 wrote:So... In or Out-of-Continuity?
What continuity? The number one rule of Transformers is that there is no continuity.
So, frankly, I have no clue how this fits in, Sideways, Ravage, Constructicons, Bonecrusher (If you don't count him as one of the Constructicons) Starscream and Megatron are all still alive after brutal deaths...?
They better explain this.
Other than that, if they do stay true to what this says and they are in G1 Alt. Modes, [sarcasm]then I will have to go to Orlando Studios in Florida and sit where they will put this darn thing and be the first one on there.[/sarcasm]

I know 'Bee was a Beetle in G1. Also, in one of the Queue videos, they introduced Sideways as looking A Lot like Sideswipe. Like a 'Con palette swap of Sideswipe. One of the above posts should have it.

Besides, Sideways isn't a Corvette/Sideswipe recolour in the ride - there are shots on the net of ROTF Sideways wrestling with Bumblebee in one of the scenes. For whatever reason, it's just the queueline computer that's wrong (perhaps no turnaround ILM render was available?).
