Episode #214 "Bumblebee" is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on iTunes, Google Play, and Stitcher Radio within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.
While this may go without saying for some, please be aware this episode contains complete spoilers for Bumblebee and we recommend listening in after you've seen the movie - and if you're reading this should have done so by now. If you haven't, it's great, stop reading this and go!
Here's the full list of sub-topics for this episode:
- At the start and throughout the episode, we're extremely proud that the Twincast's own Jon Bailey was brought in to voice Soundwave and Shockwave in the film. Listen in for insight and insider information you won't hear anywhere else!
- We take the best look we can at the opening sequence featuring a battle on Cybertron.
- A general overview and discussion of the entire movie's plot occurs throughout, with looks at new characters like Dropkick and Shatter, as well as new human friends (and foes) like Charlie and Agent Burns.
- We take time to reflect on not just the pop-culture references - including many to previous Transformers works of all kinds - but also on the characterization provided along the way which is found at an unprecedented high level for Transformers live action movies.
- Listen in for our thoughts on movie continuity.
- Why? How did we let this happen?
- With plenty of fuzzy information about the future of the Transformers film franchise out there to fuel us, we speculate about what might come next. Forget a reboot, could there be a remake?
- Is the toyline another poorly timed missed opportunity? Is the execution the problem? Either way you can probably guess we don't have nice things to say about Hasbro's merchandising contributions.
- We conclude the episode with our holiday season bragging rights.
Thanks for listening in 2018, and we look forward to bringing you more fun Transformers discussion in 2019!

I had obe complau t for the Cybertron scene, to me I font like how Ratchets Face meets his helmet, it lo9ks like a Kreo head in a hrlmet to me. And Arcee looked a little too pilished in the face to me comparatively.
Bumblebee left Cybertron in a Pod, but when he falls to Earth he is raw. So did the Pod break up in atmo or did he come from someplace else on Eatth and fly in a pod mode to save time or ve covert
It took me the second time to realize the little desk jockey was Simmons. Just didnt hear the name.
The one thi g I think this film does to its own Detriment is stay as close to the Bayverse designs as it did. I like the designs, but I think to the general movie audience it would have been better to go with a newer take to better signal that this is NOT the same as #5 to people who are not following the news.
I think Chsrlie is out of school because she takes her Brother to school sorta on her way to work. Possibly a young graduate or early.
Anyone else want Side Burn to meet Charlie now and her little red sports car? Maybe Bee dragging him away abd apologizing?
The Little Brother was annoying, but he was supposed to be. Maybe they coulda dialed him down a bit but he did fine.
Bee was wstching his leader fight when he was leaving, Presumably good optic sight, and feeling hrlpless because he is in a pod escaping.
Cliffjumper will be back as Tailgate.
To me, Bee on Wheels felt like Fixit
Doggone it!
Bee in the House reminded me so much of the Kitchen Scene from RotF when Bee is stuck outside trying to help Sam.
The article said thry deliberatily Megs out to avoid any truly obvious plot comparison.
I didnt get Hoover Dam impression, but that could nake sense. I feel like this is just a parallell Universe thing, similar to the previous Verse but one small nudge changes the details. Maybe the Allspark shifted in its trajrctory
A good point though: the Cons call the Autobots a Resistance. That means the Cons, not the Bots, are the predominant forcr 9n Cybertron, its not even an evenly sided Civil War. So maybe the Cons already won once, or won the initial overthrow, and Megatron is or was in charge, with the Allspark still in the well.
I loved Bee's change too. That no word look at Cena when he says "I have been trying to be patient. I was willing to overlook out initial misunderstanding. But I have tried and tried to explain and you continue to be ignorant, shoot me in the back, qnd bow you hit my gitl. So you know what? Screw you and the Car You rode in on."
The chains bit was intriguing me because one it showed the Dropkick's transformation is so involved, he couldnt fibish transforming without burying those chains deeper, and he does it anyway. But it also 8n a way reminded me of theboriginal draw abd quartering of Magnus in 86 (that was cut)
I didbt like the Charlie running bit only because I just knew that was a screen behind her, looked good but still not quite coherent.
My favorite moment of that was "So what's the plan Bee?"
1) Pickup Human
2) put human in box
3) close box
And thrn the box gets shot anyway. Oh well.
She doesnt really save him, its her moment to Say GoodBye, her biggest regret about her Dad.
Slowing the moment felt right to me though because I have watched a lot of Hogh School Dives abd almost all of them stand on the edge and center themselves before jumping off
Also, the tower was self powered, ots possible even though its crippled and falling it still wouldave sent.
Solo was to me a good "Movie". But if you scrubbed the Star Wars stuff out of it it still would have been the same movie. There wasnt really anything in it that made it definatively Han Solo by itself.
Darth Maul if I remember right actually has a long history in the Expanded Universe Pseudo Canon (the fan stuff that Lucas said "You know what, that's cool. I'm gonna steal that!") stuff post Ep1. His existance in Solo was to kick off an "official" version of that, but with as vad as Solo did his presence falls useless
Its worse than that, the Target and Meijers around me have EMPTY BUMBLEBEE MOVIE displays. I found my first Siege toys stuffed in a hole in the Bee display and it was clearly to fill a hole.
I would be okay with non Triplechanging Cons but we dont even have the SS single mode Cons.
We didnt even get center island for Siege. My stores arent even resetting for the new Siege stuff yet.
SS Dropkick IS a cool toy. I highly reccomend.
EDIT: So randomest Easter Egg I noticed, but why does the Mechanics jacket she is wearing randomly say Dutch on it?

Good to know on Maul. As someone that really fell out of Star Wars EU after NJO (let's retread the OT great no thanks) Maul in Solo was a left field curveball that just didn't work for me.Flashwave wrote:Darth Maul if I remember right actually has a long history in the Expanded Universe Pseudo Canon (the fan stuff that Lucas said "You know what, that's cool. The Bee Movoe stuff here went from shelfwarming to gone once the movie finally came out. The center aisle shipper displays at Walmarts were not for Siege though. Canada got those, which may lead to confusion.
As far as Dutch, no clue. Maybe it's a weird reference to our boy in DotM, but it's probably a skate company or something that I'm not cool enough to know about.

I am so thankful they brought back Maul in Clone Wars. Clone Wars did him justice at last.
