It's time again for a fanciful trio of Transformers enthusiasts to blast a Twincast Podcast for our listeners! Join our host ScottyP, as well as Megatronus and newly minted regular cast member Cobotron as they jam to the most recent Transformers news and more.

Episode #231 “Technically Correct” is available directly and in our RSS Feed, and should appear on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, and Stitcher Radio within 24 to 48 hours of when you see this news post.

Here's what we talk about during this episode:
  • How close is War for Cybertron: Siege Unicron to reaching the 8,000 committed backers goal now? Not much closer, so go back it! Do it now (if you can.)
Transformers News: Twincast / Podcast Episode #231 "Technically Correct"
  • There are some juicy rumors being bandied about anticipating War for Cybertron Wheeljack, Hoist, and more. Cliffjumper before Bumblebee? That’s giving me the vapors.
  • We take a crack at IDW’s Transformers: Galaxies #1 (preview ]here) and have good things to say because it’s good. Real good. In fact, we recommend checking out episode 229 for an interview with the writer and artist Tyler Bleszinski and Livio Ramonedelli to get an inside glimpse of how this gem came to be.

  • …also, did I mention our general enthusiasm for Ultra Class? We miss Ultra Class. Next time on the Classics retrospective: we complete the bridge towards Generations.
  • We end the show like we always do - with a round of healthy bragging rights. What have we acquired since the last show? Some big and interesting things, to be sure…

and CONGRATs to Cobotron for becoming a regular! I've enjoyed listening to you on the show, looking forward to hearing you more and also hearing your thoughts on the classics retro!

Gonna listen tonight while doing housework. Though I plan on skipping past the Unicron part, unless you guys have something new to mention. Not trying to be rude, I’m just over the whole thing.

I’m very, very excited for the Classics retrospective! Happy to see Cobs is back, and I’d also like to say Scotty was right, Galaxies was amazing.

It's all good, I regret putting it on the agenda by the time the segment was over. Not 100% echoes of previous thoughts but don't blame anyone for skipping it!

Ehhhhh if you want it to be, ok, but I feel like this was released more as a Motormaster pretool/"put Optimus in the line excuse" than anything else. Had there been a blue submarine CW limb or an orange truck I'd be more inclined to buy the analogy but the designs look nothing alike aside from being recognizable as Optimus Prime.

Good show, all, I quite enjoyed it! The Classics retrospective is so great to listen to. Its nice to here thoughts from other fans on those figures, as when they were coming out, I was not actively participating in the fandom, so I never really got other thoughts on them.

While I'm by no mean burnt out on G1 nostalgia, I do understand that point, and I would love to see some other new things come out. Or at least more 'upgrades' to previous lines other than G1. I make a big deal about the cost of official figures these days, but when that Armada Prime Takara figure comes out, I'll happy sign a blank check for it.

Hey all! So excited to be recruited into this crew and look forward to getting in and mixing it up with you bunch on the regular!

Still riding that Uni-Clas 2.0 high. So much so Storm Cloud followed me into work this morning.

I'm all for something new, but if Siege Voyager Prime is remolded with a Earth mode front facade, guess what I'm buying; or if they show off a good Bumblebee and Wheeljack I'm all over it. Ultimately, I think HAsbro is slowly trying to make the core of the Hasbro brand G1. Which obviously I'm fine with.

That said if they wanted to explore Transtech I'm on board again. I think that was a great Travesty that we never got to experience Transtech.

Got the chance to listen in today. Some good stuff in this episode! Will need to listen again tomorrow.

Couple of things I wanted to touch on:

-I wasn't into the non-movie/animated/Prime lines until 2013, so I missed out on all the universe/classics stuff, so my opinion might be influenced by very different experiences, but I wasn't that impressed with that mold. I don't really know why, I just didn't enjoy it that much.

-Since you touched on Scourge real quick, would you guys recommend TR or Generations Scourge? I plan to get one here soon, but not sure which one to go for.

-Galaxies was really great. I too really enjoyed that Abominus tease. I really want to see a Devastator/Abominus showdown. I'm also gonna pose a Twincast question on this topic as well, so hopefully you guys can discuss it more.

-Because it came up, Cobo: what is the maddest you've ever been at a toy? Has a toy ever really made you mad?

-
Scotty: no TFcon?! what happened man!!

-I would be down for the Galvatron challenge. And i haven't handled that mold ever

-Question about Onslaught, Stormcloud, and the Silverbolt molds: are any of the 3 worth having by themselves with the recent toys we have gotten? Is it worth hunting down any of them now?

-Oh and with regards to upcoming releases, not only are Hot Shot and Cromar coming next weekend, but Smokescreen should be shipping out this week as well!

Good show as always, congrats to Cobotron for his ascention to regular cast member. I also have a list of comments like D-Max because I'm unoriginal:

~So with these leaks, how many repaints of those molds do you guys predict are coming? Do you think we're going to get Hauler and Artfire, or just Inferno? What about Exhaust, who was briefly mentioned once in the show?

~Galaxy Optimus's flip-out grey bits on his super mode feet ARE in the instructions, where they are treated as optional extra heels to balance the super mode gun backpack. They aren't necessary though, I've only found them useful for helping him stand if he's wearing Weaponizer moon boots.

~...that was a scarily accurate assessment right in there: I DID grow up on the Unicron Trilogy, I AM buying new figures because I am lucky in terms of my school/financial state, and I am....about a year off from your assumption, meaning I am in a constant state of low-key annoyance that 98% of GenerationS is just G1 and yet I'm still buying a good many figures because they're characters I had no version of since I wasn't introduced to them until later in my time with the franchise and fandom, like Hound and Refraktor. I feel like I say something like this every 20 or something posts I make now...

~I'm holding out hope that having Bombshell and the Insecticons be the "Antagonists" of the Constructicon Galaxies arc is in part a way to drum up interest in the Insecticons before they get WFC figures, even though Shrapnel losing the poll means he'll probably be the last one released (and to be clear, I voted for Needlenose in said poll, because as much as I want Deluxe-class Insecticons I only want a guaranteed full set).

~This is my first time the podcast has featured the Classics retrospective since I've started tuning in, I'm really a fan of this segment. It's cool for me to hear those thoughts from people who were actively collecting at that time.

~I remember thinking Universe Onslaught was so cool when he came out and I had no idea who he was, and I never got him...and now I'm okay with that, because Bruticus is my favorite combiner and having an Onslaught who couldn't combine would be sad, even though the mold is badass.

I hope I didn't come off as saying I don't want the Generations idea to happen, or I don't want updates of old characters. Beast Wars and Cybertron, etc. updates are great! But I would gladly sacrifice that for something completely new and mind blowing. Like the way Beast Wars blew my mind 1996.

Sorry D, which mold?

D-Max wrote:-Since you touched on Scourge real quick, would you guys recommend TR or Generations Scourge? I plan to get one here soon, but not sure which one to go for.
I actually like TR Scourge better, but Gen Scourge has a much more intricate transformation .

D-Max wrote:-Because it came up, Cobo: what is the maddest you've ever been at a toy? Has a toy ever really made you mad?
  No! Probably not really. Some Movie toys, maybe? Or things with funky abstract alt modes. But never really mad. I spent the money, no one to be mad at but myself.
I'm probably one of the most forgiving Transformers fans you'll ever meet.

I feel like those would be more likely candidates for Selects release, but I could maybe see Exhaust in the mainline. He would be a good use to fill out a Deluxe wave and the Cons in general.

And this is exactly why Generations does and should exist! :APPLAUSE:

I think what would really be worth it, would be to hunt down the repaints of these guys. If it's too hard to erase that they're grossly oversized minis or non combining Combiner team leaders, the repaints make it easier to assimilate them into the fold. Then you still get to have these big chunky quick to T-form fun-on-the-go toys that are awesome to swoosh, crash, and PEW PEW PEW!
Storm Cloud is easy to repurpose with a little head cannon, but it's just as easy for me to pretend that Power Glide is now POWER DAVE! The obnoxious and hard rockin' doof of a brother to CW Power Glide. Whose rockus and brash behavior constantly gets under Jetfire's face plate. To no end! heavy metal guitar riff here

Glad you're enjoying the show! I think Inferno's basically a given and Artfire is probably a shoe-in for Selects since Ricochet was done recently. If a Hauler happens I expect something less green and more cartoon, somehow. Six seekers again feels like a safe bet, maybe with the Coneheads in a three-pack like the Rainmakers were. G2 Optimus from the Optimus with Trailer, which won't be much of a repaint on the actual bot but I could see an added missile launcher or something. I can imagine something like Exhaust through Selects but they'll avoid anything distinctly Marlboro-y after MP-23. Might be a way to finally get out Omnibots and Wheeljack's an easy base for Downshift - or at least Downshift's head!

I think outside of those some Armada repaints of Siege molds will get thrown in. Armada Wheeljack from Siege Sideswipe, Air Defense/Air Assault team from Storm Cloud/Visper, stuff like that. Oh and if the new Hoist is a truck, I could see an Armada Red Alert from that.

I'm gonna be late for work so quick answers here, sorry man! TR if you want G1 look Scourge, Generations for a slightly better toy. TR easier to troopbuild Sweeps.

TFcon - uninteresting story. Short version: it's my fault and I didn't plan enough fast enough.

Ultras - Yes, as Skyjack, Storm Cloud (see Cobotron's posts) and Clench

Thanks for the responses!

Pity about the con, now i have to rely solely on Ari to counterpunch me into all kinds of trouble.

Hmm, I will need to keep an eye open for a well priced ultra there

I'm pretty bummed about it but will double my efforts to make it to Chicago and/or DC in 2020. You're in good hands on the enablement front though ;)^
