william-james88 wrote:So back to Jetfire, which I got last week, he's fine but the QC eaves much to be desired. I was wondering if everyone else had these problems. The right wrist is super loose, so he can't hold his gun straight, it always flops to one side. Also, the ratchets on his thighs are not of the same strength. One side is far weaker than the other. Are all copies like this?
I know I mentioned it a few times here but since you brought it up I've had the issue with his facemask staying on. The first one I got it wouldn't stay on at all so I took it back for another one. The mask stayed on for a few hours then it hasn't stayed on since. It just springs back off like Chromia's knickers. It's the only bummer but I don't want to take him back again.
No issue with the wrists but the genius 5mm palm peg I can see wearing down over time it already is a little delicate when it holds weight, you just get that feeling you know?
A tad loose in the thighs but otherwise the ratchets are pretty awesome especially in the arms and knees.
Those are the only ONLY things that don't make this a perfect toy for me. But I've learned to love him faults and all I mean hey I can't keep my own face mask on some days we've all been there who am I to judge right?

I think he looks awesome though. I love the accessories I love how spot on he looks. To me that purple and grey on Astrotrain was always, pow, as important as that purple and green on the Constructicons.
As a kid to me all the colors of the robots really spoke about their characters, and how Astrotrain's vehicle modes had such solid color reversal was just thee cooooolest.
You know with a lot of these Siege figures what I love is that it's not just they look like they did in the cartoon, but how I remember them looking if that makes any sense. Each of them I find a romantic synergy of my childhood memories with my more adult tastes in design and detail.

blackeyedprime, CW Ultra Magnus is actually also too small and in his case it's incurable. And SIEGE Magnus' trailer may not open up in vehicle mode, but you can still cram 2 deluxes onto it.

Artic megatron will either convince me I need the siege megatron or it wont. Pictures of ratchet on here have convinced me to try and pick one up rather than find another/spend more on a Potpp sepcialist or whatever they are called. Nightbirds pics make her look nice but already having the legends I doubt I'll be picking her up. Prime will be replaced at some point if I could get a siege Prime cheap or maybe the cell shaded.
I think Astrotrain, Springer and Red alert etc all have legs that are too short which makes them look stubby. Astro trains legs are barely longer than his torso but I always liked the style of long legs to bodys (Phantom 2040/Guyver).

Amazing figure though! By no means perfect in either alt mode (though Train wins for me this time) he looks stunning and a great update to the character. I love TR Astrotrain but he isnt all that rememorable.

Head canon FTW!!!!
Basically, he joined a group of Transformers, each hails from their own alternate dimension, banded together to save realities on the verge of collapse. I never took a group-shot because I didn't buy all the toys I had planned, but the original "cast" included:
LG12 Wingblade as a Perceptor that never returned to his original body and lived on as Nijika.
LG15 Nightbird as a Nightbird that got into a freak accident with Arcee and somehow gained her ability to talk and transform.
TAV 07 Roadblock as a Constructicon we never had.
CW Viper - as a Powerglide that was suborned by the Decepticons & Cobra and ultimately broke free.
And "our" Sunbow Skyfire (that's why he stopped appearing on the show ) as the leader of the group, who at some point wanted to be better fighter so he convinced Perceptor to upgrade him into "Jetfire."
Here's the backstory for (Japan's Headmasters) Brainstorm that I posted a while back -- 1931892#p1932526 (after the Perceptor "review.")
What can I say, I like my toys to have origin stories.
And the best part is that you can have an ever chancing cast. (Like a "Reflector" body that gained his own personality and joined the Autobots, or a white Ultra Magnus with an armour, etc. Almost any toy from any line will do.)

Ultimately, though, I display in robot mode so I'll be getting the Leader Class when it hits.
Interestingly enough, the Titans Return version of Astrotrain serves as a better "Cybertronian" version for the character with its military train and stylized space ship alt modes.

I agree. But, the robot mode is what's causing me to buy the Leader Class, because I can't move past G1.

Thays because they are just resellers, not getting the product directly from Hasbro.

Since Never? There are several slots along the track and a flip out latchg on his calf that will hook in. There are aso ramps off his thigh that have the connector, but as they are INSIDE the base it doesnt really do any good

Regardless, I LOVE Astrotrain and that leader is fantastic. Especially because it nail the look (despite the shuttle flaw) and it mostly transform like the original G1 toy!

Honesty I'm ok with a weaker shuttle mode, since every astrotrain toy ever has prioritized that mode. It's finally time for the steam loco to shine

Glad to have that 3 months price warranty with Club R membership at Toys R Us!
This way, I can buy now, not missing out, and possibly STILL save.

I thought the shuttle mode was the weakest part of the G1 and classics toy.

I agree that Classic shuttle sucked because of the two very obvious train parts sticking on both sides. However, G1 Astrotrain had solid vehicle modes, including the shuttle. G1 had a dinky bot with his ridiculous T-Rex arms.
Ah, the eternal law or triple changers where one mode must always be sacrificed.
Is there any official triple changers out there that have ALL of its 3 modes legit perfect?

Oh yeah. That's one. But T-30 Sandstorm have the edge for me. I still have that pretty much perfect toy.

Well that's a tall order. What bar are we measuring against? G1 accuracy, that's a low bar. Real world accuracy, that's a high bar. Personal preference, not even going touch that.-Kanrabat- wrote:Is there any official triple changers out there that have ALL of its 3 modes legit perfect?
I'm just going go ahead and say it; T30 Springer is overrated Mine had loosey goosey parts and didn't peg well in any mode. Sandstorm is my preferred version and has much better tolerances in all modes, but non of his alt-modes are G1 accurate or real world accurate and the dune buggy is just silly looking. I do find it a fun mold to tinker with and I love the VTOL backpack I've sent T30 Springer to the isle of unloved toys and wouldn't mind sending Sandstorm there as well if a "better" version was produced.
I scanned around my room a bit and all the triple changers show signs of compromise and I don't think there is anyway around that. Nature of a triple changers I guess.
Siege Springer does a pretty good job of hitting that modern "G1 done better" trick and everything pegs in well. Bot mode and transformation are fun. That's my measuring stick: how well does this evoke G1, is it fun? With that said, I'd toss TR Blitzwing into the ring. Siege Astrotrain seems to also fit my standards.
BTW, define "perfect".

I wish they would have made the cargo car attach over the "open shuttle back" to cover it up and complete that look.

Batmobile Megatron really is awesome in all modes. Even combining with Nemesis Breaker. I wish his cockpit opened so I could put a headmaster in there. I was hoping they would do a Galaxy Upgrade Megatron to go with Prime.

I don't really like that mold. The bot mode have huge ass kibbbles that just hang there, and the "spaceship" mode is just a bonus mode. However, this is one hell of a cool "batmobile".

Armada Lazerbeak cheat because he's his own thing. Also 100% show accurate.
As for the DOTM HA scouts, most have a iffy third mode. Except one. DOTM HA Backfire. The vehicle is nice, the bot is solid, and the third mode is a PERFECT BFG.

It is still fun and good toy tho, and the articulation is great, that is one aspect where this one wins over T30, so i also gonna keep this one.

I thought the shuttle mode was the weakest part of the G1 and classics toy.
The Classics toy had a nice train mode but IIRC it was a Shinkansen rather than a steam train. Which is cool, don't get me wrong, but for those of us who want a proper choochoo doesn't quite cut the mustard.
TR Astrotrain has a really nice shuttle mode, and his train mode is cool but gives me more of vibes of a landship than a regular train. Nice toy though, and as Sentinel Prime I really, really love the figure (thanks once again BTW).
This one, whilst not perfect, has an acceptable shuttle mode and a really nice train mode. Assuming I can get him he'll be my Astrotrain.
Posted by Stargrave on September 15th, 2019 @ 11:32am CDT
I love how the shuttle and train (and same with other TR vehicles) can be just a standard vehicle for Titan Masters or they have the tinier cockpits and windows to let your imagination really envision it as a giant craft. Just fun stuff.

Well crap! I was going to chime in to say, my personal favorite "triple changer" is Transmetals 2 Waspinator.
But there's a huge difference between favorite and best. I have not the authority to declare any one triple changer the best.
As far as cohesiveness between all 3 modes, I think Siege Springer is a good contender.

He truly does pull off the vehicle mode the best with the wings and cockpit, even if that isn't saying much
