We have some more Seibertron.com content for you. While we have several in hand images showing us the variation in deco from figure to figure, we also have a video review for both Transformers War For Cybertron Siege voyagers Optimus Prime and Megatron. These are currently being shipped to distributors (and in turn retailers) and can be found at comic book stores right now and will be found at big box retailers soon. The video review includes a look at the figures in package, along with features, a critical review, and the transformation.

Also, we have from a private source the case breakdown of the first wave of Seige. Optimus Prime and Megatron are of course evenly split in a case and it is also evenly split for the deluxes (Hound, Sideswipe, Flywheels and Cog) and battlemasters (Blowpipe, Lionizer and Firedrive). However it is not an equal split for the Micromasters where the Decepticon Airstrike is two per case while Autobot Race Car Patrol and Autobot Battle Patrol are each three per case.

Enjoy the review below and please let us know if you spot any Siege toy at a big box store.

Wasn't one of the things that Hasbro revealed about Optimus that he had some form of Hover-truck mode?

So it is  That's what I get for commenting before watching the review  I may end up getting this version if I can find it cheap and just using the hover mode as his alt mode cause while it's not that big of a change, it reminds me of the games, especially the G1 Prime skin in multiplayer

Seeing a 360 of the OP truck, I really hope Hasbro will make a remold into his original G1 sculpt later down the line, cause this base mold and transformation scheme makes a great clean generations G1 prime...

Well, crap. Up till now I was actually going to pass on both Megs and OP. These photos are making me question my decision. Despite being disappointed that Has/Tak didn’t take the opportunity to do anything new or creative with their Cybertronian alt modes, these figures do look awfully nice. And I can’t be surprised by their appearance, with the companys’ push to solidify their more evergreen designs across the various lines.

I have to say that the package design looks phenomenal. I generally only keep boxes and card backings for older toys, or for big box sets/exclusives. I think the only other exception is the SS line. But I’m definitely keeping these boxes. I dig the wedge shapes. I think they’re going to help these stand out on shelves. The artwork on these is what puts these over the top. It looks great. This is some beautiful product design.

Hmmmmm,,
I HATE The Packaging Shape, attractive styling visuals. But Dumb shape.
Im A Big Fan of How CW Ultra Magnus Looked in the package; Such A fan, I Never took it out of the box (after finding out there's NO waist SWIVEL & all, rip off Leader class), cause the "money look" w/ that figure is it sitting on my shelf- IN THE BOX (Un-opened) :BOT:

Thus im Looking Frwrd> to the New 2019 Hasbro MAGNUS offering.
A
Shopping at TARGET/ Waly World & I come across that OP. Its getting throw in the cart. I don't care who im shopping w/.
>> But, I'll pass on that Megs though,
1.) I hate the Legs (which were great on the TiTan Wars Galvatron).
2.) Meg's entire head sculp is B-A-D! Its Off, its to Wide and to squashed looking. & also there's To much forhead black! Last years PoP. Voyager was Waay better!

QUESTION:
In the comparison shot w/ Megs standing there w/ CW LC. WHAT MEG'S IS IN THE BACKGROUND? The New MP.? Because it Looks taller than MP.10 (unless im way off, being that my eyeballing could be off, only buying cheap Hasbro's & the occasional 3rd Party). I say that cause if those our both the MP's,, THEY MESSED UP BiG TIME- Making Megatron Taller than OP! WtF! Megs needs to be alittle wider & more imposing, Yes..
BUT MEGS IS NOT "G1" TALLER THAN PRIME.

Seeing theses weaponizers in action, they really do look great. Lots of paint on the weapons like the thrilling 30 struff. Am I the only one that feels like fisitron/ironfist feels like the perfect fit for this line? Still doubful on a rack 'n ruin though.

Well of creativity from Hasbro ? or acceptance factor from the average Tfan ?

When I see debates about Potp prime fists being gray instead of blue.. I somewhat understand why Hasbro continues to play secure.

Who said "the worst punishment is to give men what they desire the most" ? because it's how I feel the generation line currently. Hasbro gives fandom exactly what they wanted for years, and fans are not happy. and less and less happy in fact.

↑ ACCEPTANCE FACTOR!

Like this Terrible MEGATRON..
Sure Battle damage looks cool. But his legs Look goofy & his head sculp is way off!
Its face don't resemble G1 Meg's IMO. His Helmet is to wide also, plus there's to much forhead black. Making the entire sculp look SMASHED! & By comparison to last years PoP. Megateon Voyager its A No Brainer- that the PoP. Version is twice as nice.
>> Although, I will happily buy OP. Though.

But Yea "Acceptance factor" 100% Spot on!
Im getting real Sick of almost everyone (or it would seem) outside of comicsgate community anyhow, being so accepting & quick to praise trash! Esp. TV & Bots.

Thus I was happy My YouTube video "Teen Titans trailer Trash" (see: "5 Fold Understanding" YouTube) Went over really well w/ people....

Alright first of all you should try to stay a bit more on topic, and second of all I don't think people liking this Megatron is part of the acceptance factor. Personally I quite like the way it looks and for those like myself who haven't had many options for a reasonably priced voyager Megatron (that isn't just a grey Blitzwing) this is a great option. He isn't perfect but it is unreasonable to expect him to be. :SG-CONS:

I think it would depend on where the battle damage is. On top of unpainted plastic and you're good to go, if it's on top of other paint it will be much harder.

On some figures yeah, it mostly comes off, but on paint-savvy figures, especially Soundwave, it will be extremely difficult because there is paint on top of other paint, which are important details. So be careful or be prepared to do some repainting yourself

It was about an 8 hour process start to finish to get the video and pics done that I did yesterday. The comparison pictures was just something I had overlooked during my mad dash to get this stuff done as fast as possible. If you guys would like, I can take some photos of Siege Optimus Prime and Megatron next to other versions of those characters, along with each other. I haven't put them away yet.

I think this Megatron is pretty great. The only problems I have with it boils down to wanting to see this mold with a silver paint job, wishing the peg hole in his forearms wasn't a see-through hole, and wishing the peg holes on the tank treads were in a lower position on his back so that the rear cannon could sit lower like it should. Other than that, I think this is an absolutely fantastic Megatron. I love his headsculpt, which I'm shocked to see some of you not liking for some odd reason. It's a better sculpt, in my opinion, than Masterpiece MP-36 Megatron, whose head is too big and too cartoonish.

These versions of Megatron and Optimus Prime remind me of their Studio Ox models, which I am a huge fan of, though Optimus has the more G1 cartoon model antenna.

I keep swaying on the Optimus, I'm thinking I will pick it up on sale or pre-owned and chop off the arm/back kibble. I think I would prefer action masters over stuff with alts that aren't to my liking or non cybertronian in this range.

Megatrons battle damage/mud paint just looks odd. I think I will be picking him up as my TR Megatron is in Jet mode leading the classic seekers but the paint will have to go on the chest/grey areas.

Great review Ryan! Wish you had more time to do these kinds of videos. I prefer listening to you ad looking at your photography over a lot of the the other reviewers out there. But maybe I'm just biased to my hometown (seibertron.com) posse.

I'm still at an impasse with this line. I'm loving it all but space is running out. I have so many versions of some of these characters that I still really enjoy playing with and displaying that it's hard to commit to more of the same. Was planning to cherry pick this line, but after seeing this, I'm not sure I can. Both these leader characters just look so dang stinking GOOD! :BANG_HEAD:

Disappointed that the Optimus transformation is so complex, and he seems way too much like a shellformer with that backpack. I stopped buying Masterpiece figures because transforming them took too long and often wasn't fun, and contemporary Generations has been more satisfying by comparison. This seems like a step in the wrong direction.

That said, it's a great looking robot at that price, and the various play features add some value too. I'm definitely still going to get it, and I'm sure I'll be happy with it overall.

I'd hardly call having a large front piece folding to the back 'shell forming' when the rest of the mass shifts, compress and expand. Because if that is 'shellforming' then the word has lost all meaning. >:oP

I'm throwing together a breakdown of the mystery symbols from what we've seen of the packaging so far.

Image
Optimus Prime

Image
Hound, Sideswipe

Image
Cog

Image
Firedrive, Lionizer, Topshot/Flak

Image
Megatron

Image
Skytread

Image
Blowpipe

I think I caught all of them and there's definitely a trend here, especially on the Autobot end. They appear to be rank symbols with Optimus having the most elaborate. The deluxe figures use a similar symbol, but a less elaborate bottom right portion with two lines. Cog's Weaponizer symbol is the same bottom half as the other deluxe, but with a different top half. The Battle Masters and Micro Masters seem to have the same symbols, hard to tell, which is the same as Cog's but with one bar in the bottom right instead of two.

The Decepticon symbols will probably be similar. Megatron and Skytread's symbols are similar with different centers. Megatron has a sword in the center and an elaborate bottom partion while Skytread has two crossed bars for Duocons and a V shape on the bottom. Blowpipe has an unusual symbol that doesn't quite match the others.

Blowpipe's looks like a rocket to me. It'd be cool if these appear somewhere on the actual figures. Seibertron, is there anything like that on Optimus or Megatron?

Could the symbol represent some personal 'crest' of some kind? Something like a personal logo or signature or, alternatively, mean in this version the Cybertronian language use pictures for words? Perhaps it is similar to Kanji and other languages where a symbol or a combination of symbols can mean a single word or a serie of words? :-?

Or, more likely, it really is some kind of rank indicator. Or that combined with the personal name idea: a Transformers' name being a mixture of their own markings/name and their allegiance and rank within their faction. If that is the case, then that's a whole new area of lore/fluff which has never been used before and hint at some small (if interesting) attempt at worldbuilding Cybertron's culture and language.

Edit: No, it's definitely rank if Sideswipe and Hound have identical symbols.

When put that way, then Cog as a Weaponizer falls in the same league as the Autobot Battle Masters and Micro Masters as "living weaponry" as their symbols are similar.

With that, the symbols seem twofold in design, with the top showing function, the bottom showing rank.

I hadn't thought about the symbols being ranks. I'd had the thought that maybe they represented their function in the society considering the story about the Cons being the rebels against a functionalist society, but ranking makes more sense

Exactly my thoughts. I imagine Ironhide, Chromia and other standard Deluxe Autobots will have the same symbol as Hound and Sideswipe while Sixgun will have the same symbol as Cog. Brunt will probably have a symbol similar to the Decepticon Micro Masters and Blowpipe and the like. It really does feel like a rank system. I'm very curious to see if Ultra Magnus' and Shockwave's symbols are more or less elaborate than Prime's and Megatron's, that'll tell us if the symbol is for rank or price point and function.

Keep in mind that, in G1 at least, he was just a non-sentient shell that Fort-Max would use to interact with smaller Transformers, so considering he is basically a drone the fact that he does have the same rank as actual sentient beings is kind of insulting to them.

I'll wait and see what Walmart's price is. As usual these wave 1 figures are going to saturate heavily while finding the rest of the line at retail is going to be based on luck.

Well, it's not like this site is called "Cybertron.com". He chose the planet's Japanese name and "Say-ber-tron" is how it's said. ;)

And yet those same wave 1 figures will then be the most coveted a year from now when new or returning collectors get wind of this line and wish to complete it. I was able to sell my swoop for more than twice what I paid for him.

I'm fine with this. So far, all the figures I want are in Wave 1 with the only wave 2 and 3 figures I want being the micro masters, Pteraxadon, Red Alert, Brunt, Sixgun, and depending how they turn out, Mirage and Impactor. I'm just worried about how Omega's going to see release and how well the QC will be

According to this Tweet, the Matrix core by itself can fit inside the space where the robot head goes, most likely by coincidence rather than intent.

Yeah, there are always stragglers that come to the party late and have to pay the price of catching up, but I'm pretty sure I can still find Swoop at Kmart.
