We ony got confirmation of the Walmart exclusive G1 Hot Rod reissue yesterday and now we have a video review. While it is in Chinese, we see all we need to see for a toy that has already been reviewed ad nauseum.
It comes in a very nice replica G1 packaging minus rounded corners on the flap. Aside form that, it appears to be a straight reissue of the original TRU Commemorative Hot Rod reissue. It has the wrong sticker on his chest, which comes from the later Targetmaster chest sticker instead of the original plain non-shiny version on the original G1 Hot Rod. Also, it does not have the pins in his "shoulder" joints that attach his upper arms to his torso.
The review was done by Kevin Liu and this was sent to us by Daniel Oon.

The targetmaster version had the flame detail type tampo'd.

Bizzare.
Still, if the price is right, I'd buy it.

I have no idea what you're referencing, I'm intriguedgothsaurus wrote:While these are on the presses, I wish they'd crank out some neat exclusives in odd colors... like Peru and Brazil colors "Malingus" and "Spooky" etc.
What I'd like to see is something like Menasor or Defensor reissued, in G2 colors. Give us something we've never had before! Though Takara has the right idea I think, with the new Encore's they're gave us a more show accurate God Fire Convoy (even though the original was pretty close), an amazingly accurate BM Primal, and now possibly Unicron of Light. I'm pretty pleased with how its proceeding

Now we’re talking. Starscream is the only G1 Seeker I don’t own, and I’d rather not pay out the ass for one like I did for Thundercracker and Skywarp. Devastator’s one I’ve been considering getting but I can never find one less than $100 which sucks but is expected.

Can we move on already? At the very least there must be other molds from later parts of G1.
Or you know, actually throw some love towards the BW era. Re-release the likes of Primal, Megatron, Cheetor and Dinbot alongside their MP releases.

Sadly that's probably more accurate than we'd like to believe.

LEADER CYBERTRON MEGATRON BUT REPAINTED AS THE BATMOBILE.
With official DC licensing of course.

What Burn said. And if they're going to stick with G1, I would rather have figures from season 3.Burn wrote:Sabrblade wrote:"Nah, those are too obscure. The main holder is DC Comics itself, each toy field has a different licensee company.

Pfff, I'd be content with a straight up reissue of Cybertron Megatron or Galvatron. Somehow I ended up with all of Hasbro's releases of the guy(s) in both Armada and Energon, but completely missed the Cybertron mold.

I must has him. The silver plastic looks very shiny on that photo, too. I wonder how much sparkle Hasbro are going to be putting in? Diaclone levels? 80s G1?

shajaki wrote:Just to note, Starscream appears to be an amalgam. His null rays are the enlarged ones used for the TRU Commemorative Series Seeker's, but as a bonus he seems to have the G1 Pistol Megatron made for Takara's TFC-9 (Anime) Starscream, so presumably he'd also have the altered fists to accommodate said accessory.

For that price you're getting three Bees, two Swerves, two Tailgates, and one Outback so the price isn't that bad. Walmart will sell them individually and going by the RK price it's about $10 each which doesn't seem super unreasonable, the WM price will probably be lower.

Notice that clearly the multipack was decided based on popularity; 3 of Bumblebee (the only minibot 'A-Lister') 2 of Swerve and Tailgate (co-stars of MTMTE) and only one Outback (the only recent-ish role I remember is as a corpse in Spotlight Kup, a role so small that in Megatron Origin they forgot he'd already died (or rather was already fated to die later) and had to create a new character (Fastback) to die)
What I don't get is why Warpath, Cosmos, Brawn, Seaspray, Windcharger, Powerglide, and Huffer were all ignored by the reissues.

Simply put this is just the Encore 10 (2008) lineup minus Pipes.
The guys you want are mostly from the older Transformers Collection 12 (2004). So it's just a matter of doing the figures that had the most recent update. The exceptions being the last time we saw Windcharger and Brawn was the 2003 key chain versions which would require Hasbro tweaking the molds again. The last time they touched the Seaspray mold was in G2 (1993), who knows if they still have it.
Also Outback just got a new figure in PotP so he's still fresh in people's minds.

I don’t have a preference, I like the look of both of them!
So wait, I think I’m confused as to how this pack works. There’s multiples of Bumblebee in the 8-pack? And they’re also selling them individually?

So I'm not expect Bee to have the cartoon face, but then again Takara Tomy didn't update the art on Encore 10 either.

But with Screamer being such a mishmash of other releases, I wouldn't assume anything about the minibots or Devs.

Probably the same, I doubt Hasbro will fix the mold if Takara Tomy couldn't be bothered to fix it in two reissues. On both versions of my Encore Devy (regular and anime) Scavenger falls off easily and the head portion sticks tightly to the top of Longhaul and feels like it'll break.

I can understand the love, but G1 Devastator is a very faulty mold. Glad that the combiner principle was completely improved when it was time for Scramble City.

I have to wonder how the raiden mold held up in comparison to devy, as weren't they both diaclone originally?
