Battle Command Optimus Prime is a real throw back to the early 2000's Transformers for me. Ultra class sized robots/vehicles with a chunky heavy feel loaded with gimmicks. I look at this figure as the center piece of Takara's simplified line since all the one step figures can interact with Prime in both vehicle and robot mold. By the way, if someone can explain to me what the heck shaking the toy does I'd really appreciate it.

I would have liked this figure a lot more if it wasn't 60% kibble.

Both versions of the figures feature chrome detailing, while the Takara Tomy figures feature more of a matte finish in spots and slightly different paint apps than their Hasbro counterparts.

There goes the whole point of the SDCC set...

Not when Takara only made these two and only as exclusives for the Transformers Expo. Hasbro's got them beat in terms of member quantity (all five Dinobots rather than just two) and secondary-market availability.dalekslayer96 wrote:There goes the whole point of the SDCC set...

Well, that's true.
That also reminded me: is Takara producing anymore Black Knight Dinobots?

Eh, don't back down that easily. Your point was valid. (That's not to say Sabr's wasn't valid either.) The SDCC set was meant to be exclusive and therefore expensive, and when you make the main figure available like that, well, it kinda mucks things up for those who put big money into a set for that exclusivity and it's gimmick. (And let's face it, when you mention the word Dinobot, and G1, the first name that comes to mind is Grimlock. If you can get this guy and don't want the set, you're golden. No need to buy the set when you can buy this.)
It reeks of the whole Classics Seeker fiasco nearly a decade ago. (Wow. A decade! *smh*)
A bit of consistency would go a long way to appease the fans. I don't think we're asking that much.

Hasbro has a knack for screwing with exclusives and making the fans angry.

I had it typed up and in the correct forum before he did, but he got it published before I did. I retracted my news and left the post not thinking.

If that G1 colored AoE voyager Grimlock is somewhat reasonably priced, I might consider it.

I will probably regret that, when i find out the only way i can buy it is importing it at great personal cost, waiting months for it to arrive only for it to be seized by Royal Mail until i pay the import tax and £20 ransom fee.

More like, "We already have an Optimus toy, what do we do with the Power Attacker to avoid duplicate characters outside of Grimlock?"

Wouldn't be a repaint to Japan, as they never got the Power Attacker Optimus in some form until now. They did get the One-Step as an exclusive.

My point is that it doesn't make much sense to take a toy designed for pre-schoolers and give it a paint job that appeals to collectors. The audience for one-step changers probably don't know who Nemesis Prime even is. It's a strange combination. Then again, Japan is a strange country.

And yeah, it's weird making a collector-orientated version of a kiddie toy.

Or from any other general retail black repaint, like Armada Nemesis Prime (Scourge was exclusive however) and Arms Micron Nemesis Prime.

Except those were figures from the main toy line, aimed at all TF fans, as opposed to toys that were specifically designed for young children who probably have never even heard of "Nemesis Prime". How would pre-schoolers be familiar with Nemesis Prime? Was he a featured character in TF Animated or Rescue Bots?

This is the main line in Japan. Lost Age Series. The Movie Advanced Series is the secondary line to this one in Japan. And practically all of the Lost Age Series toys have premium collector-aimed decos with metallic paint and everything.GuyIncognito wrote:Except those were figures from the main toy line, aimed at all TF fans, as opposed to toys that were specifically designed for young children who probably have never even heard of "Nemesis Prime". And how would preschoolers in Japan even know about Rescue Bots anyway? Or Animated, for that matter, since that one might have been before their time over there.

No, not solely Power Battlers, the entire Lost Age Series line contains molds from all of the simplistic toys: 1 Step Changers, Power Battlers, Flip & Change Grimlock, and the Takara-made Battle Command Optimus Prime.GuyIncognito wrote:Power Battlers are the main TF line in Japan? Sucks for them.
Those toys are the ones being marketed under the name of the movie, while the Movie Advanced Series is the other line for the Japanese that contains the AOE Generations molds.

*sees the others* I didn't know they were doing a whole line of them. Huh...
(Granted I'm totally lost on the whole AoE business. Grabbed Kreon Lockdown and Galvy, saw no Cyberverse, and just ignored everything else)

Why all caps? Get off the PCP, it's not good for you! I like the Galvatron, looks better than the voyager one IMO.
