one can argue about the storyline for WfC because (and i'm going out on a limb here /sarcasm) those that would play it the most would already know about the history of transformers either being with watching the original series, reading the comics (all incarnations) so there was no need to really expand and give it as much depth - but the dark energon twist was very very well done - just an alternative as to how the downward spiral began to happen (and it does make a lot of sense that way i think, my opinion you don't have to like it if you don't want to!)
More dakka would definitely be a requisite - hands up who loved stomping around with the heavy weapon platforms?
Well I was arguing over the contunity a few posts back, but this is about the toys. I'm just drooling over having a WFC styled Grimlock on my desk at school alongside my good ol' WFC OP. *drools*

There is really SO much potential for high moon to go nuts over... Could play as a smaller bot who pilots a sweet cybertron fighter jet only to land, and out of no where, have the jet turn into a robot and the little bot become the headmaster... seriously, theres just so much they can do with transformers, I can't wait to see whats next for the game. I also don't care too much about story as long as it goes along the general storyline from WFC and G1 leading to tf prime. It'd be really cool if they focused on some individual skirmishes of side stories that tie into the greater scheme of things, like Blurr becoming an autobot soldier (Blurr Spotlight ish)

Well, Shockwave was in the first game as a DLC character, and as an unlockable in the DS game.funeralthirst7 wrote:While watching the tour video from High Moon Studios it appears they have concept art for Wheeljack, an updated concept for Arcee (she was in WFC as an unlockable character in Escalation mode only), and what appears to be Shockwave. And Swoop was in the DS game as well.

Those would be lovely additions- maybe have the main storyline, and have like challenge side missions that delve more into certain character(s). Also throw in some DLC challenges/boss battles alongside the DLC maps/characters. Also, boss rush mode would be a pretty cool idea as well (make it like smash all-stars, only with 3 man co-op, and 3 energon cubes to use for each)

Which console was Shockwave unlockable on? The PS3 unlockables were Arcee (Autobot campaign) and Slipstream (Decepticon campaign). I never bothered with the DS version but maybe I should go and pick it up.

Two new concept arts were shown. One was obviously Wheeljack, but could the second one be Sunstreaker? For me, it looks like him, and right now I can't come up with any other yellow transformer. I hope it is him, it's been so long that he has been in any series/game while Sideswipe has been there.

NICE, just stompin and chompin, ough!
I'm pretty sure that board of character concepts someone mentioned with Arcee and Shockwave was from WFC. They don't usually sprawl ongoing work onto the walls tooo much, and there often isn't even any fancy concept art (more bare bones) until the game is finished. Then they go back in and make a buncha nice concept art pics for strategy guides, and whatever other stuff like wallpapers.

Sabrblade wrote:It might be Swindle.

Now that you say it, it could be Swindle. Though it's really hard to tell just from concept art. If it's Swindle, one would think they'd keep the purple optics for him. Yet it also lacks Sunstreakers "ears". It's also hard to tell if it's Decepticon or Autobot from the colors of the lights, because when I look at it they could be either red or purple.
But then again, it's always difficult to say about concept art. In WFC Thundercracker had red optics in concept art, but in the game they were yellow, at least the times I've seen his face in close-up in Escalation.

Considering I almost never see more than 150-200 people online I haven't bothered getting the dlc. Every time I play I debate with myself over the 20 bucks for both packs and it's the lack of players (on PS3. I don't know how 360 is) that prevents me from making the purchase.

The Green Bay Packers don't come from there (also Steve Jobs was born in wisconsin, just sayin)
Anyway, A Grimlock level would be badass. Perhaps we'd get snarl/swoop for it as well? (for co-op) Also, it's inspired by G1 (like everything Transformers) but it's pretty much the prequel for Prime.

Thats cool that its its own continuity, since it seems to be handled with care and is being done well, but it can't escape being G1 in some way as it trots along its timeline... the guys making the game have G1 videos playing next to their work monitors.. haha. Enough said.

I'd say thats a redeeming quality rather than a flaw. If people were all as disatisfied with nowadays rock music as I am since it didn't measure up to the greats of the 60s and 70s, we might actually have more of the good stuff and less of the garbage. For example.
I wonder if theres going to be another super limited toyline, or a full blown one. And if we'll be getting Voyager Prime and Megs.

They have the videos playing for design inspiration. The story itself may make some callbacks to G1, but so does every other non-G1 series. I'm really curious about how you'll play as a combiner, and if they'll have them online as well.
I mean, will it take a full 5 members to combine, who does what? I know traditionally it's 5 members, the combaticons included. Though, maybe they'll "toy"(LOL!) around with things. What if it's only 3 people?
I guess it would be cool if it was like, in other games, a multi-manned vehicle with, different turrets, a driver or what have you. I'm excited, but I don't want to get my hopes up, for something that could really just end up looking cool, and offering not so much gameplay wise.

How is that? Marketing this early really doesn't cost them anything other than online costs. If anything, its good for them to market this early, since the movie just hit dvd and blu ray, and more people will remember Transformers now than in a year. I don't think many people are going to bother pre-ordering this early, but being before the christmas season, its a chance for high ROI sales.

It's senseless to try to gauge interest and seek payment in FoC this month, especially with additions to the Batman, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Gears of War, Halo, Saints Row, Skyrim, Lord of the Rings, and Mass Effect franchises that either have been released recently, or are going to be released in the near future. Regardless whether you have interest in these franchises, many gamers across the Earth are having a hit to the wallet from the amount of games being released in this year's Q4. I appreciate the game getting previewed and all, but asking for money to be put down now in this month? Just no.
While WoC's release date in the summer last year didn't exactly help it's sales, nor did the sheer lack of any advertising.. it's just moving to Q4 is a bit of a risk. There are more well established game franchises that always release in Q4, and.. I just don't see TF selling well. Of course one might ask, why does it matter if someone else buys it, aslong as you do? Less demand means less tech support. WoC was filled with garbage and glitches, and while I put weeks upon weeks into the game, I was blinded because I was TF fan. The normal gamer isn't going to take crap if Activision produces the same lack of care that WoC gave.

Your thinking about it from a negative pov. It doesn't HURT them at all. it could only help them. Theres no such thing as marketing too early when the end product has an already fairly defined release date. Earlier means more time spent spreading the news. There is really no downside other than overhead, and thats insignificant. Its not like the consumers are going to choose now, and then not be able to choose in five, eight, or twelve months from now. It just gives some who are more TF fans than... whatever, mass effect, assasins creed fans a chance to buy early, and then maybe save cash for the upcoming year that has an unknown income.
And btw, its NEVER senseless to gauge interest. Thats what marketing is all about, gauging, always, as much as possible.

Why the hell do you think you didn't get the DLC?
Very excited about the combiner. Wouldn't it be great to play online with 5 people and every player controls a limb. Okay most combiners won't even walk straight. But if you work together you could act like one player. Yess!

It seems they're making the customization better. Maybe even going that far that you could choose from different arms/legs/etc, and make a character look like you want? I would be happy if that's the case.
