While most of us feel like we're still recovering from the last Transformers Machinima animated show, Titans Return, it is almost time to jump down the rabbit hole again with the upcoming show Power of the Primes. It's because of this that the voice actor for Megatron in Combiner Wars, Titans Return, and POTP, Jason Marnocha, who is widely praised for being one of the highlights of the Trilogy, has started teasing POTP's premier.
Coming fresh from his twitter account, he's shared an image of Megatron with the new Power of the Primes title graphic, accompanied by his caption of "Soon. Soooooooon..." (It's also worth noting that the poster sports a shiny new Machinima logo, as well.) Check out the image mirrored from his twitter below, and let us know if you'll be tuning in to Power of the Primes when it premiers sometime later this year. It'll feature big new names like Mark Hamill, Ron Perlman, and Greg Berger!

Freddery's TR special isn't even out yet and we're already getting teasers for the conclusion of this root canal of a series?

Voice talent and art is great in these shows. It's the directing that needs the work, and for the director to have better control over the voice talent. I don't think I've ever seen something where it's the directing that is so blatantly the problem. Well, except for the Star Wars Prequels.

And the writing. The writing needs serious improvement as well.

I think it's safe to say that Hasbro is STUCK in a contract with Machinima that supersede's the growingly poor reception this crappy @ss show gets.

I mean it's one thing for Hasbro to sell out to Bay and Paramount when there's a billion dollar box office and multi millions in merchandise being sold.

But this project here is used chewing gum by comparison.

What's really frustrating is that Voltron toys don't make a fraction of what any TF line makes right now. Yet they were still able to make a deal with DreamWorks and Netflix and knock it outta the park!

Begging the question what the h3'll are Hasbro's shareholders doing over there during board meetings!

At this point I wish that I could just block the word Machinima from any internet device I own unless the words "Cancelled" or "Ending" is in the same sentence.

They discuss brand awareness. We know that, they mention that all the time. This machinima thing is just to keep the transfomers brand in the ether and garner it web presence. its to promote the brand itself, not just a toyline.

.......Okay.

Is promoting the brand online worth the price of leaving a bad taste in most fans mouths? Plus it's an insult to assume that all kids don't know the meaning of quality either when watching this garbage.

They need to start thinking long term since there's no way that people will be asking for a 10 or 20 yr anniversary of this show the way they do with G1.

No assumption. Combiner Wars yielded 120 million views. So proof that yes, kids and adults watched this stuff regardless of quality.

That's the problem though. Nobody knew exactly what Machinima was going to produce. I'll fully admit, I was 100% onboard with CW, hoping this was going to be something spectacular, after 1 episode, I knew it was a dumpster fire, hoping it might get better, and it never did. The micro series was fully produced, so its not like they could just stop there, they aired all the episodes. Hasbro should have looked at the responses, not just the number of views. I cant imagine large percentage of viewers asked for, or wanted more.

Or maybe it was favorable in other markets...I don't know. After the negative response to Revenge of the Fallen (the highest grossing TF film US Domestic), it only took 3 more movies for the rest of the world to catch on that these were garbage... ;) .

It's like a new bakery opening, If they sell 1000 donuts, simply because its a new store, but those donuts are awful, and they order 2000 more...All your going to have is a bunch of stale donuts. Unfortunately I know media isn't a consumable that goes *stale* per se, and frankly I don't even know how Hasbro profits from this. If its just to promote awareness, and not necessarily to purchase toys (I purchase Generations toys because they are the only TF line I care about, and provide a satisfying feeling of nostalgia)...in spite of how awful the Machinima series is.

If someone going in with a clean slate were to base all things Transformers solely on what Machinima produced, I would not blame them if they had zero interest in reading any of the comics, watching any other shows or movies, or purchasing any toys at all.

I still say Hasbro should go the route that WB/DC is. They provide 3 fully animated movies per year for the home market. Granted some are better than others, but they are drawn from all different DC stories and continuities. Hasbro can do the same, with 30 plus years of TF lore, who can tell me, they would not love, say 2 animated movies per years (70-80 minuets long), that explore original stories from everything. original Series (Sunbow and marvel comics), BW, RiD, Unicron Trilogy, heck I'd even love a film inspired by some of what Dreamwave did...

An argument I see against this all the time is... *It's too expensive* on that I call BS. DC's films probably cost somewhere in the neighborhood of 5M to produce. Paramount's 5 live action theatrical films made upwards of 3.5B world wide, I'm sure Hasbro made a nice profit off the residuals. Hasbro has its own animation studio, but if they wanted to partner with another animation house for funding, and split the earnings, that's fine too. I just refuse to hear about how something cannot be done, if they don't even try. For my money, the film Predacons Rising which served as an addendum to TF Prime was the best TF movie of the past decade.

As bad as the first two shows were, they were still a success and garnered quite the following of blind praise given by people on Facebook and YouTube. For those such people, it seems that all it takes is the use of G1-based animation models and G1 voice actors for even the worst schlock to be considered a masterpiece, regardless of how much it all fails across the rest of the board in terms of writing, directing, editing, scripting, timing, animating, etc.

Save for the acting. It was mostly decent, with some being better than others.

Hasbro had the chance to make an actual G1-esk AWESOME new cartoon, and they let these rejects make it. Combiner Wars and Titan's Return were terrible. Actually, they were beyond terrible.

Just like Mark Hamill could not save The Last Jedi from being Garbage, Peter Cullen couldn't save Titan's Return.

The voice acting on almost every character was terrible, the scripts were god awful. The animation was sloppy.

Just let this die already.

Hellooooo! You didn't ans my question you just brought up numbers of the first season during its first 3 months. Even I was one of those 120M who gave it a chance and haven't supported it since, thus cause and effect!

You can't argue that the show is any good so what's your role here besides playing Machinima's free PR?

Do you personally want a quality TF show or do you want this crap to keep going????!

Actually couple of things to think about. Firstly, quality is subjective as is our opinion on things (remember opinion =/= facts), just because you don't like it doesn't mean your opinion is shared by all those who watched these. Secondly, we are not paying for this product, this is just a short series that is just about promoting the brand. Hasbro would have to pump serious money in to it to get it to the level of a TV production. They wouldn't do that unless it had potential to return their investment and then some. Basically don't expect miracles (though that's not saying there's no room for improvement, but just temper expectation)

If instead of tf prime we got this show then that would be bad however this is just a Web show that just steals time if you commit to watching it

There's nothing to think about.

For some reason you just feel obligated to defend Machinima's crap. And if it was just me bashing it then you wouldn't be making so many lame excuses for its existence.

My point stands since MCU's overall track record is proof of success when a studio or company invest's its money on QUALITY!!!

But if you like wasting time on Machinima then don't "steal" anymore of mine.

Being "just a web series" does not excuse something from being well done.

Lots of people are able to put out good quality material regardless of the medium, web content included.

Need it be reiterated that the production staff of Combiner Wars hyped up that show as being "the Game of Thrones of animation"? With promotion like that, it's no wonder we were led to believe that these web shows would be not just quality works but high quality works.

And, let me point out for the umpteenth time, it is absolutely possible for someone to LIKE and ENJOY low quality works. That's what called "guilty pleasures". Vice-versa, one can also dislike and not enjoy high quality works, for whatever reason.

Something being of good or bad quality is based on objectivity.

Someone liking or disliking something is based on subjectivity.

We've gotten teases, we've gotten posters, but finally we have a release date for the next Machinima Transformers cartoon, Power of the Primes!
Announced with remarkably little fanfare over on the Transformers Facebook page, accompanied by a clip from the previous show Titans Return, it's been revealed that the next and final chapter of the series will come on May 1st, just a few short days away. Something interesting to note is that unlike other promotional materials for the new series, like the poster below, neither the post nor the video make any mention of the Go90 streaming service, which both previous shows have been streamed on for free. It will be interesting to see if Transformers has ended it's run with Go90, instead opting for their Tumblr page, which they do link to in this new post.

Whatever the case, make sure to stay tuned for Seibertron.com's exclusive reviews of the new series, coming out immediately following the new episodes!

I fear Transformers is dead. The movies are trash, the shows are trash, and the toys are either trash or are good but never make it to retail because stores don't want shelfwarmers. It's starting to feel like 2006 again but with no light in sight.

This one show made you feel like that? Plus we still have the bumblebee movie from the guy who did that kubo movie. No bay in sight for that one. Plus the toys are still doing well, they may not meet your tastes but the franchise is far from dead. In fact we have the war for cybertron toyline coming and the rebooted idw comics after they deal with unicron (which looks epic)

I'm looking forward to it. My only issue with the previous shows were Menasor's grating voice and Windblade's Anime style grunting and shouting.

Ok Starscream and Overlord could do with better voices but they're not cringeworthy like Menasor.

Judd Nelson is great as Hot Rod. Megatron isn't portrayed as a one dimensional villain.

I like the aesthetic apart from Megatronus looking like Animated Headmaster.

I've enjoyed this a lot more than a lot of the series popular with the fandom like Animated and G1 Season 2.

It's a shame we didn't get more of the Seekers but it was nice to see Sunstorm in a modern cartoon however briefly.

Given how Prime believed Perceptor was worthy of the Matrix, I wouldn't be surprised if the Matrix transformed Perceptor into Primal.

Both characters were portrayed as peaceful scientists.

The third and final installment of Machinima's Prime Wars Trilogy of cartoons, Power of the Primes. is just a few short days away. Meaning, of course, we're seeing more and more promotional material across the internet for it. Today's no different as we have (at least part of) a new poster for the series over on the Machinima Instagram page. The poster is being, well, posted regularly in increments, meaning we've only seen a few sections of it, but the rest will probably be revealed by the premiere date.
Even though we've only seen a fraction of the poster, it still offers some exciting new glimpses into the show we haven't seen before, showing off our first look at the Dinobots and Predaking! Check out the pieces of the poster we have currently, and then check back when the series premieres for our official review!

Looks like Megatron is front and center of the poster. I wonder if the reason he is hidden from full view for now is because of something that Hasbro wants to keep secret about him until closer to the series's release date. Like, if maybe this show might go the route of MTMTE and have Megs wearing a :BOT: symbol on his chest.

Well, how else are you going to know exactly what to criticize about it in order to give a proper, educated critique? ;)

Random Thoughts...

1. Yay! they are actually getting this out in time to be current with the release of the toyline its promoting

2. Finally they can afford to get a combining sequence shown.

3. If I didn't know CW & TR were dumpster fires, This, on its own merits, admittedly, does look kind of cool

4. Where the heck is the jungle coming from? Someone must have accessed the Apocrypha known as BM...erroneously so.

5. I am (poorly dubbed Japanese movie) Optimus Primal you'd think by the 3rd time they'd learn about lip flaps, heck EVEN South Park was able to do it better 20 years ago.

6. So....this is all taking place in Unicron's head....Or was that like a *spoiler* for the next toyline (War For Cybertron is centered around the Chaos Bringer...??)

7. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Hasbro DO NOT extend your contract with Machinima for more series...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!! NO!

On the other hand, does it really deserve a proper educated critique? Do I need to chug a jar of urine and write a long, drawn out review of the unpleasant ammonia tang before I can tell people that drinking pee is a bad idea when basic instinct is enough? Do I need to try tap dancing in a minefield before I can say safely that stepping on explosives sucks when they're expressly designed to blow up people that step on them? Do I need to play Depression Quest myself to come to the conclusion that, yes, it was an indeed depressing quest (and a scam to boot) when the stink that was kicked up by people who shilled for the game in spite of its apparent awfulness is still haunting the internet to this day? Not everything needs or deserves a "proper critique".

So in answer to your question, Immortal Starscream, you might have developed bile fascination.

I will say, from what little I've seen of it, it's not nearly as bad as some have claimed. Not good either, but not the cartoon Khmer Rouge people say it is. The animation ain't great but it's still better than Energon by a country mile. The writing is bad but that's par for the course with Transformers- good TF fiction is the exception rather than the rule. The voice acting ranges from decent to deplorable but again, see the vast majority of TF cartoons.

I'd say just about anything does, since blind hatred just comes off as annoying trolling.

Besides, if people hadn't watched these, no one would know how good of a diamond in the rough Jason Marnocha's Megatron is, which fully deserves all the praises given.

Blind hatred is annoying for sure. Educated guesswork/"I can tell this is gonna suck, I think I'll exercise good judgement" is not the same as blind hate/trolling. In fact, it seems as of late that showing restraint and not going to see something you know you'll hate is a prime target for actual trolls. See poor old James Rolfe and the torrent of abuse he got after saying "This new Ghostbusters movie looks a bit crap, so instead of paying money to see it and getting angry I'm just not going to watch it and preserve my cash and temper".

Of course when it's free to watch it's a bit of a different story, but even so, no point watching something you know is gonna be trash.

Sometimes it takes a fair watching to see if something really is good or bad.

Like, Animated looked absolutely terrible in its earliest advertisements, but watching the show revealed it to be really good.

And with Combiner Wars, it took people watching it to see just how bad it was since it was hyped up so much as being really good by its creators and a lot of people were really excited by all of its first looks. But then when Megatron came along, people got hopeful again since he was really good. People kept coming back for him to see if either he could redeem the series by himself or if there would be more good things like him to help make the show better.

In cases like that, it took watching the shows so that we could make our educated guesses for later stuff.

A trailer for the upcoming Machinima Transformers apower of the Primes cartoon has appeared online, specifically from the Machinima YouTube channel. The trailer is pretty brief, but establishes the cast, where we left off in the last show, and some new shots of new characters. It give us our first look at the Dinobots in action, Volcanicus, Predaking, and Optimus Primal, as well as our returning characters Megatron, Overlord, Windblade, Megatronus, and Victorion. You can find the new trailer mirrored below!

The past two installments of the series have gotten heavily mixed reviews from fans, and the short break in between Titans Return and Power of the Primes (just a matter of months), makes some concerned that they didn't have enough time to listen to critique and improve the show more. Though, it does fix one criticism that fans had: it is premiering while the coinciding toy line is still on shelves, something the previous two shows hadn't been able to match.
Power of the Primes premieres May 1st, on Go90 and the Transformers Tumblr page. Make sure to catch the official Seibertron review of the show shortly after each episode airs.
