First, Hasbro would like to express its sincere thanks to the thousands of fans who voted across the web to help determine the finalists for 2011's Transformers Hall of Fame Fans' Choice inductee.
The finalist ballot is now live on Transformers.com and we encourage fans to visit and vote daily for which Transformers character they would most like to see inducted into the 2011 Transformers Hall of Fame class as this year's Fans' Choice honoree.
The five finalists are: Autobot Erector --- Grimlock --- Autobot Jazz --- Shockwave --- Waspinator
The 2011 Fans’ Choice finalist ballot was created with input from several Transformers collector-fan media outlets, which conducted independent polling of their readers to ensure the ballot represents the robots that most resonate with Transformers’ passionate fans. Fans may cast votes daily from April 13th through April 22nd. The winning robot will be revealed at the Transformers Hall of Fame induction ceremony at BotCon in Pasadena, CA, on Saturday, June 4.
Roll Out!
And so it begins ...
Throw that voter apathy out the window, it's selection time. Us fans have a chance to vote for the fourth inductee to the 2011 Transformers Hall Of Fame, as they will be joining Soundwave, Ratchet and Ironhide, as well as last years inductees of Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream and Dinobot! So who has a chance to make it in? Our five nominees for the last inductee spot are Grimlock, Shockwave, Autobot Erector, Waspinator and Autobot Jazz! Submit your vote here!!
"Me GRIMLOCK want little statue!"
GRIMLOCK fought his way through the gladiatorial pits underneath Kaon to become one of the greatest warriors on CYBERTRON. Having joined the AUTOBOTS early on during the Great War, GRIMLOCK has fought and survived through enough battles to have earned a top ranking position amongst the AUTOBOTS. GRIMLOCK rose to lead a group known for their shock and awe style of military tactics, these soldiers were known as the Lightning Strike Coalition Force. Captured by SHOCKWAVE they were eventually reformatted into the team known as the DINOBOTS. During a fierce battle, GRIMLOCK’s vocal processors were damage leading to his awkward and distinct way of speaking.
"I am the only logical selection."
SHOCKWAVE has always based his actions on the most logical choices. Having joined MEGATRON during the early days of the Great War, SHOCKWAVE believed MEGATRON would quickly crush the High Council and bring about a new order to CYBERTRON. AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS everywhere fear SHOCKWAVE for his unethical experimentations. SHOCKWAVE believes that through his work, he will discover a better form of existence for CYBERTRONIANS everywhere and sacrifices must be made to accomplish this. To further his goal of reformatting the species, SHOCKWAVE stayed behind to lead the DECEPTICON forces on CYBERTRON during the Great Exodus. On the surface, SHOCKWAVE is unquestionably loyal to MEGATRON, however this only masks his true intentions of ruling all over all sentient beings in the universe.
"Wait, what is this? Why am I here?"
Once a member of the evil CONSTRUCTICONS, AUTOBOT ERECTOR was scrapped from the team in favor of the DECEPTICON HOOK, because he wasn’t green. Dejected, AUTOBOT ERECTOR had no choice but to join the AUTOBOTS and did so at the battle of Tyger Pax. There he saved the day by distracting enemy fire with his body allowing for OPTIMUS PRIME and the AUTOBOTS to escape the battlefield. AUTOBOT ERECTOR is a true creative genius and now hailed as the top construction engineer for the AUTOBOTS, having designed such marvels as the Armada Laserbeak Surveillance System and the Real Gear Quick Action Weaponry. AUTOBOT ERECTOR is favored by many AUTOBOTS for representing a lost generation of TRANSFORMERS who prove you don’t need to famous to loved by all.
"WASPINATOR suffered for your enjoyment."
"WASPINATOR is one of the most durable TRANSFORMERS of all time. Despite getting blown up all the time, WASPINATOR was able to endure this constant torment and pull himself together long enough to make it to the restoration chambers. Part of the original PREDACON crew which stole the Golden Disc from the Hall of Records, WASPINATOR was marooned on prehistoric Earth where he battled in the BEAST WARS. Before reformatting into a beast, WASPINATOR was known by the designation of WASP.
"Vote for me or you’ll be sorry. I’m a bad cat who likes to party."
AUTOBOT JAZZ embodies the essence of what it means to be an AUTOBOT. Loyal, brave and cunning, have allowed AUTOBOT JAZZ to rise to become one of OPTIMUS PRIME's top lieutenants in the war against the DECEPTICONS. Having joined OPTIMUS PRIME on the Ark during the Great Exodus from CYBERTRON, AUTOBOT JAZZ’s upbeat attitude has always been a source of inspiration to his fellow AUTOBOTS. An admirer of Earth culture, AUTOBOT JAZZ effortlessly incorporates the popular local vernacular into his dialect. AUTOBOT JAZZ has even built his obsession with music into his weapons systems with his deployable speaker blasters capable of firing up to one hundred sonic booms per second.

Seems like Jazz, Grimlock, and Shockwave all got new bios and mottos from those they had last year. And Erector's bio is crowded with forced fanwank ("Armada Laserbeak Surveillance System." I mean, really?)
And Waspinator's bio seems to incorporate the "Wasp" name of his Animated self. Either BW Waspinator was known as "Wasp" during TotGD and DoFP, or it's nothing but another way to force in an element from the other Waspy.

I voted Jazz, he's just too cool! If I had the funds I'd start a third party.. and make WFC Cybertronian Jazz!

Nonetheless, my vote still lies with my Beast Wars homeboy Waspinator.

You mean like so?
It's interesting that Erector's bio basically retcons the Mudflap repaint as his Decepticon self. That's nice that someone recognized this.

So wait, are they trying to imply that this is a Classics Erector?
At any rate, WHERE'S MY CLASSICS SHOCKWAVE?!!

That is hilarious. I'm glad to see that Hasbro can take a joke, and make it even better and be fine with it.
Still, my money is for Waspinator I think. I think you are wasting your votes on Grimlock and Shockwave because they'd of eventually been in the Hall of Fame anyways. It's just a matter of time. Waspinator on the other hand deserves it, but Hasbro'd never do it on their own.

I agree with this. Shockwave, Rodimus, Jazz, and Grimlock are all no-brainers for future HoF inductees. Characters like Waspinator and Erector only get this shot once most likely (though I think Waspinator would eventually be on Hasbro's list, just might take 10 years or so).
On that note, time to finish up Erector's gallery!

Pretty much. Grimlock, Shockwave, Jazz and Soundwave were all in it last year voting (and got beat by Dinobot).
I believe it was Sabrblade who first said it, but it's up to us fans to make sure the non-G1 specific characters get recognized as well. We can depend on Hasbro to pick the legacy characters.

That way I might just get the bloody G1 reissues that I've been waiting for Hasbro to do for the last 10(ish) years!
Posted by Noideaforaname on April 13th, 2011 @ 4:48pm CDT
I wish we could get more than one in every year (why don't we indoctrine both a 'Con and a 'Bot/Maximal), and/or Hasbro auto-include a few of the more obvious ones. For celebrating the diversity of TFs, it seems like a waste for A-listers like Soundwave and Grimlock to not only not be in the Hall of Fame, but also clog up the entries year after year (at least one of those two WILL be running again next year).

I have to vote for Erector. It's not even fair.
Even during my non collecting years Erector was always out and on display. He is simply a great little guy, and while he may be on the list as a joke, My vote will be completely serious.
With the exception of Waspy, the other three are a lock for the HOF, and all of them are guaranteed a spot in the next couple years, so yhea, they'll be ok. And Waspy will keep having a shot until he's in as well.

Otherwise that fandom will keep pushing for him every year until he does win.

I'll be going Waspinator. It sounds like votes, at least of those posting, are a really close call. A lot of love for the bots up there.
Also, maybe they aren't even having human inductees this year, what with no mention of it yet? Wonder if it's just because they can't schedule them or what?
