First Re-Issue Ultra Magnus and now this...
Yes, it appears to be true, but don't get too excited, the prices are a bit outrageous at $98.72 for each, except Starscream who is $79.88.
All are listed as IN STOCK even Megatron.
Here are the links:

I cannot imagine a lot of people will buy it from Walmart as you were able to get a set for less than half that amount from most online retailers.
However, many have sold out, so this option is now available.
Is this a test to see how well imported collectible toys would sell on the wholesale market? Or something else?

Guess Hasbro's experiment with MP Magnus must have paid off though if they're going to release the encore line in the US. Though how won't Megatron have to be modified?

For that matter, how will Convoy adhere to toy safety laws with his long stacks?

Well when they released Masterpiece Ultra Magnus in Australia they slapped a higher age sticker on it and pretty much marketted it towards collectors.
Perhaps they'll do the same with imported Encore.

Personally I think Walmart is banking on the "uneducated" newbie collectors that dont know any better. Which is sad, but business is business I guess.

You know, on a different note, it just occured to me that, instead of potentially blowing the bank on a Classics SS, I just need to get the encore to display with the G1 MP SS I'm planning on getting when released-through Walmart no less.

And I wouldn't mind the orange cap (or any other silly color) long as its a genuine (i.e. better quality) G1 Megatron.

You can? Can you post some links 'cause I'll gladly buy an original MIB G1 Megatron for $100.

Seibertron wrote:Does anyone have any theories on Walmart.com selling the Encore reissues? This is the first time a brick and mortar store has sold non-Hasbro Transformers on one of their websites. I'm curious to hear some theories about this.
They found another way to cash in on the collector market? Perhaps some new relationship with Takara or Japanese vendors in general?
If the prices were more Wal-Martish I'd probably buy these encore figures from them.

In any case, they are little too expensive considering what BBTS was asking for them before they sold out.

i love walmart and they do have good deals but who would pay 100 for a prime when you can get him 40 dollars less almost anywhere.. even ebay..
Right now the reissue hasbro ultra mangus that walmart was selling is going for 64.00 on digital-toys and starscream is still 34.00, soundwave is stil 49.00 it was 13.oo shipping for my soundwave and prime together.. i could of ordered starscream and had all but megatron for the same price as walmart had em.. i think walmart just doesn't get it at the prices for these things.. if you buy from walmart online,. you have a freidt ordebit card which you can use at most of the online stores.. so i really don't get it, but if they release a fort max.. high price aside for around 200.00 i would so jump on that shit....
and if it does happen and some of the collectors get upset cause thier value goes down on thier originals than ohh well, i could care less how much my figured would go for as i collect them because i am a fan and i think everyone should have a fort max
