Do any of the fans here live in San Jose, CA? Because this is where the latest deluxes from Transformers: The Last Knight. At the Walmart on Story Rd, to be more precise. These are the wave 3 deluxes which include a new Bumblebee and practically new Crosshairs, a redeco of Strafe and a rerelease of the Drift toy that came in wave 2. Cogman is not part of this wave. For those who are not in the area, this wave is now available for preorder at BBTS, confirming the case content just described.
These were found by a cousin of TFW2005 user Gallade.
Good luck with the hunt!

As for the others, return the Bee. the other 2, I have no interest in getting, so I don't have them in any capacity, so I cannot really speak for them.
However, I will say this about a different set of movie figures: the wave 3 voyagers are the best of the best. Scorn is my favorite dinobot mold of any dinobot ever. He is a great figure, large, heavy, transformation is fun, posable, and extremely well painted. He feels like such a great mold, and he is so pleasing to both look at and play with.
Nitro Zeus is my favorite figure of the year, period. I have had him for a few weeks, and he is still an absolute joy. He is so much fun and so playable! The transformation is cool, pretty complex, but yet easy once you do it once or twice. The jet mode is delicious, and the robot mode is awesome. Couple that with the titan master compatibility, and you have an all around awesome figure. He will be figure of the year for me, and he is my favorite movie decepticon ever and right up there in contention for best movie figure period.

I'm just glad I got them from tfsource. You will need to talk about both once you get them. they are amongst the best voyagers to come out in the movie lines and over the past several years in general. you gotta find yourself a legion Crosshair too, so you can have him riding his big buddy

well thats the deal, no one does. But since they are packaged as much as the non repaints they cant afford to seperate them or else every collector they cater to will buy the new molds and the rest will never sell and they will lose money.

Also, more bad news: Most of the time, I'll ask an employee if they have anything new in back, and this last visit to my local Target, the employee told me they "haven't been getting any new shipments in." and that it was "Bizarre, it's almost like they've been discontinued." That's kind of unnerving.

We finally got the Voyager Prime for the first time a couple weeks ago, and then I saw Leader Megs and Prime for the first time last week. Literally nothing else new, in any size class.

I get that discontinued bit from staff all the time, don't mind it. As soon as they see 0 in stock and 0 coming in for the next few shipments (which is like 2 weeks), they automatically say discontinued when we know its not the case.

After playing with my '07 "icy" voyager Megatron, why not do the same and compare it to the TLK voyager? So here's the comparison for the jet/spaceship modes.

Right of the bat, '07 voyager Megs is WAY more fun to fiddle with than the leader. Easier transformation, better look overall, and it just ooze personality. Sure, that spaceship mode is mostly Megs doing the "Superman", but it give him a much more streamlined look than the leader.
That said, the TLK voyager is a much, much better toy in every ways. The transformation is still fun and Megs change shape completely. The jet is perfectly sleek with barely any undercarriage and is a much more better design. Despite the TLK awesomeness, it dosent remove any love and appreciation for the good old '07 voyager though.

As you just saw above, '07 is more massive and chunkier than the TLK. However, both bot modes are relatively the same size. Seeing these two toys side by side show me how not only the toy designs and technology have improved in 10 years, but how Megatron himself have also matured. The guy now understand a bit better that Transformers need to make an effort to be... in disguise!

I mentioned in another thread that this line is reeeeeally giving me flashbacks to to the 3rd movie line. DotM had the same problem with a first wave made of repaints and characters who weren't even in the movie (stupid twins and Jolts everywhere), and shelfwarmed for months because of it. End result was the final wave was cancelled. Really not going to be shocked if Cogman, the only deluxe left I really want, doesn't see wide release.

But if I recall, a big problem with DOTM was the swarm of Bees everywhere. And in this line, that deluxe we all crap on is selling like hotcakes. So while there are som similarities, the toys we constantly see are totally different.

I mean, those DotM Bees were new molds, but I feel pretty comfortable lumping those in with repaints since they were the same character that already had 5 deluxe molds and like a dozen repaints and variants in the previous two lines. The two more molds they dropped in DotM put him at 7 deluxes and god knows how many variants in a 5 year span. Everyone already had a Bee (and probably a better mold than the crappy DotM toys, too), so of course he was a pegwarmer.
In comparison, in the last 5 years there's really only been three deluxe movie Bee molds, the two from AoE and the new TLK deluxe that hasn't seen wide release yet. He's the second most popular character in these movies, so yeah, of course he sold better this time, kids haven't been able to buy him in three years.
My comparison was more about how they again had repaints (Bee, Grimlock) and characters who aren't even in the movie (Slash, Berserker appears for like 5 seconds) as the freaking premier wave of this line when new molds and more relevant/popular characters would have made way more sense, and would have sold by now instead of lingering on shelves for months. There's a reason all the Primes and Barricades were scooped up while everything else just lingers. Why would stores want to restock with waves 2 and 3 when wave 1 just sat around taking up space? Hasbro made the same mistake as DotM, and it may cost us some good figures like it did that time too.

After two weeks there's NO other leaders there except Prime, and it's the same one sitting in the same spot at the same funky angle it was when I got Megs. All I'm saying is... they got nothin' else in. I was lucky to get the only Megs that showed up, and I'm not sure they're gonna get any more.

Yeah but the idea of a shelfwarmer is that the toy is still there when the line outstayed its welcome. Thats what makes them so distinctive. In this case you have a movie leader in the shelf space for movie leaders for people to buy while waiting for a restock. Thats just business as usual. You get where I am coming from right?

Yes, any Deluxe Class Transformer from TLK should be about (maybe a little less or more than) $20, depending on exactly where you look. Bumblebee, Berserker, Barricade, those guys. Not that I'd wholeheartedly recommend any of them for that price, you'd be far better off saving a bit more and getting one of the Voyagers from Wave 2 or 3 - they're much better figures by comparison, and far more worth their price-tag, even if that price-tag is a bit higher.Jason5billion wrote:Are there any TLK Transformers with eight steps or more that cost less than $20? I saw a Hot Rod Walmart exclusive for about that much; but he only had about three steps, so that's why I wouldn't pay much for that figure. I did see larger leader Transformers that had plenty of steps, but they're about $50. Now if someone gives me examples of Dinobots, that won't do because I have plenty of beast Transformers now. I know TTC's don't have many steps, but at least they're they're not expensive, and you get a surprise when you see what's inside.
As for shelfwarming, I think a good definite example is the occasional CW Leader Skywarp one may see sitting around. It's obviously a little hazy when exactly a toy becomes a 'shelfwarmer', but personally I feel like it's safe to assume a toy has at least overstayed its welcome when every other figure has turned over a few times and the one in question hasn't (not just the figure type e.g. TLK Leader Optimus Prime, but the exact individual figure hasn't moved while everything else has to a notable degree).

Dude, don't waste your time with TLK if you want some epic transformations. Go hunt the classifieds or even Ebay for some nice ROTF, HFTD, or DOTM goodness. Those deluxes, voyagers, and leaders were EPIC. So much so that with all the complaints parents gave Hasbro, the Transformers have been heavily simplified starting AoE and RiD.

Dunno. Look at video reviews and judge for yourself. I'd wait for a sale but even then, I now limit myself for the TFs I buy. After dumping so many toys to get some sweet, sweet geewun at my local geek store, I came to realise how much crap I bought before just to have something new.
So now I concentrate to only what REALLY matter. Space and money are not infinite and I'm now past buying everything in sight.
Beside, a TR Trypticon will soak most of my TF ressources for this month.

From what I've seen and read, his biggest problems are the panels not being glued in so they fall off during transformation. He still seems better than his twin Crankcase, though that's not saying much.

Berserker has the somewhat sad honor of being the only TLK Deluxe figure that I've purchased, and I'm pretty happy with him honestly. Admittedly, I absolutely coated him in Sharpie which makes him look a fair sight nicer, and I also didn't get him for too much more than "normal" Deluxe price, so that may have colored my opinion somewhat.
It's worth noting however, that despite the other major complaint being that his vehicle mode is a total PiTA to line up all the panels correctly, I haven't had much trouble myself. Sure it would be nice if I didn't have to put any effort at all into making it come together, but I haven't found it nearly as impossible as it's often made out to be. And he looks pretty great once you've got him together, too

I can glue the alt mode front since the faux chest doesn't fit the DOTM asthetic, also some epoxy clay could work make some new details.

Oh so it's more like a structural issue. Nice.
I do hope your custom will still transform.

But Movie Soundwave never had a mouthplate. Still, the AOE/TLK style design could work for him, maybe a Doctor Claw homage could work.

Many characters had a radical design change for the "Knight Trilogy". Just look at Barricade. So a "knight" Soundwave may also be very interesting... Especially with a face reveal!
