Sad thing is, I bet due to the price a lot of people are gonna think it's some huge, awesome figure at least the size of a Leader or some such and that'll entice them to get it... and then when it arrives at their door they're sorely disappointed.
Honestly I'd just get the Thrilling 30 Legends Optimus if I wanted him in that scale.

But holy crap, that price is RIDICULOUS. I'll wait for clearance and even then, I'm not sure if I'll ever buy. I already have over 9000 Optimuses afterall.

I was about to point out a video review of the old Takara version. But no one seem to have bothered to make any comparison shots! At least, I know it's 4" tall so it's scout size.

That's next to Prime Beast Hunters Predacons Rising Cyberverse Commander class Optimus Prime.

It's about the size of a Scout/Legends toy.BERSEKAEL wrote:how tall is? will it fit with my Legion class collection?
Voyager is to Deluxe, as this Prime is to Legion.

Oh joy.
That price is really "French translation for late".

Didnt they? I thought they doomed the entire brand and it wasnt profitable in the states again until Beast Wars came along.

It was a combination of factors, really, and Action Masters was I think a relatively minor one.

It didn't die out over in Europe, Japan, and Australasia.william-james88 wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Burn wrote:Just save your money guys, it's NOT a great figure. He killed the Hybrid line.

In all fairness a figma made of die cast with a ton of parts and a (comparatively) huge playset base would cost a lot more than $100.

If it did die in Europe, G2 would have never gotten off the G1 re-release track.

Dang, shorter than I remember! He is pretty decent as a "mini-MP", but the transformation is a bit fiddly due to the his size.
Posted by fenrir72 on February 7th, 2017 @ 1:02am CST
Also, he was no different from THS-01. Both were weenie minis but chalk full of accessories.
There were even plans by KOers to upsized him but too bad. If he was like Deluxe or Voyager? He would be awesome!

Not in the US I'm afraid. YotR Optimus Prime was a Taipei Movie & Toy Convention 2016 exclusive at first, but Walmart Canada got some stock as well.
In short, very very limited release compared to the rest.

Blame the poor sales.
Many YOT__ were odd choices with odd colors. Plus the main problem were the very high prices. Hell, YOTM Optimus Primal is still found aplenty in TrU, shelfwarming hard. Even on "sale".

Walmart Mexico got it in as well. However as far as I know its only available online for $2599 that's around $130 US depending on current exchange rates.

It's pretty much the only Platinum Figure I've seen in Mexico's regular retail even if its online only.

That garbage is a Year of the Something toy?
It's in Canada at Walmart.ca as well

160$CAN plus taxes is an absurd price for this.

It's not horrible, its just very very "wee". And fiddly as all get out. Also the truck mode is less than great.
Its price should not have been over $100 for any reason. As it is, yes its quite expensive for what you get.
No surprise the THS or Hybrid Style line ended after 2 molds and 1 repaint.
Even if back when it was released the first time it was nowhere near this expensive.

The trailer is marvelous however. I'd like to get one and mod it so it can fit with one of my deluxe Optimus.
Also, how many G1 Optimus do we need? They should have went with Cybertron Hybrid Convoy instead. It's much better looking in all modes and way more interesting.
It's also much bigger.
Maybe I would pay the 160$ for it. Because on Ebay, Hybrid Galaxy Convoy is 250$ plus shipping at the minimum.

You may want to hold off on that idea. Hybrid Style G1 Convoy is roughly Legends-sized, not Deluxe, so the trailer may be way too small.

I've ton of regrets during my collector life, ton of TFs I didn't buy back in time and which I can't afford today.
But this one is one of the few non-regrets I have

That's also what I've been told on the French forums back in time. I was stupid to get this one on the same price as the regular one, I was supporting Takara into doing stupid overpriced non-g1 products and such.. (yes fr forums are 99% geewun).
Should I said that I also got most of the robomasters at their release, when they where all 15$ ?

Eh, the Hybrid Style mold is more like a Scout class of the Cybertron days than the Legends class of today, so it is smaller than a Deluxe but not quite as small as that Legends class OP.-Kanrabat- wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:-Kanrabat- wrote:The trailer is marvelous however. Not really. Hybrid is so bad, that even the MP-01 and Classic deluxe, ones that have infamous bad truck mode, are ashamed of it. Hybrid flaunt his diecast with pride because he's so "premium", all while ignoring the others who are red with shame.
As a comparison for newcomers:

I actually rather like this figure (I have the "LC-01" reissue) -- unfortunately, it's smaller than a Deluxe so it's out of place with my Takara Legends. But really, time for a Deluxe Prime that can absorb all his wheels in robot-mode; a perfect face/head sculpt; retractable thighs, etc.
MP-10 is so popular and gets reissued all the time, why won't HasTak would make a Deluxe one, too?

It's probably because Deluxe class is traditionally meant for the average-sized bots while Optimus Prime is traditionally supposed to be bigger-than-average-sized. He's a truck among cars, a leader among followers, the guy most of his troops look up to both figuratively and literally. Voyager class (or, in the past, Mega class, and its equivalents) is generally regarded as the minimum appropriate size class for Optimus since he's usually not supposed to be on the same height level as the majority of his teammates.Cyberpath wrote:why won't HasTak would make a Deluxe one, too?

There's this, for one. For another, Optimus Prime toys sell, so they're going to look at higher price/margin size classes to mitigate risks carried by some of the other choices in the size class (example: Leader Blaster)Sabrblade wrote:It's probably because Deluxe class is traditionally meant for the average-sized bots while Optimus Prime is traditionally supposed to be bigger-than-average-sized. They release him in every size-class though, so it's probably not that. Although I want a Deluxe I'm talking more about the design. Why haven't they made a proper CHUG figure of his iconic incarnation instead (or in addition to) all the gimmicky toys of him -- combiner, headmaster, triple-changer, powermaster, etc. For sure they know how to hide wheels now (and if the LG Headmasters are anything to go by) make perfect head-sculpts that look like 3D screen-grabs from the cartoon.
I'd be okay with Legend class, too. (Leader-class would be redundant with MP-10 around.)
