The DWJ era of Transformers ended earlier this month and next month we begin a new era where the hottest artist in the industry right now, Dan Mora, will take on our beloved characters. As we wait, here are Dan's character designs for the main characters that will be in the Transformers comic. Those include:
Optimus Prime
Megatron
Soundwave
Arcee
Wheeljack
Thundercracker
Jazz

Transformers 25, where Kirkman will start writing while Mora is drawing, will be released October 5th.

This is the one I've ordered, there are only so many times you can Optimus as the main on a cover - again, and again, month after month. At least You have Magnus, wheeljack, arcee etc as well.

Issue 28 - Trailbreaker horribly killed, similar to what IDW did. What did he do to deserve that?!

Issue 29 - Very fighty-fighty. A bit hard to follow all the characters and actions. Soundwave freed. Arcee enlarged & strengthened. Megatron having mysterious malfunction. Elita 1 back for some kind of payback. Perhaps Arcee Magnus will stop her with a bit of girl-on-girl? ;)

Read issue 30. Initially, I was not happy. Thought it was poorly written. Some of the characters acting fairly out of character.

But having sat on it, I remember that some of these characters are not like their original versions and have changed since then. Dunno why it was initially jarring here, given I'd readily accepted this sorta thing in the IDWVerse.

Having thought it over more, I can see several possible story hooks that could be picked at going forward as a result of this issues' occurrences. Interesting times.

Post is vague as heck to prevent any spoilers

Elita Prime could create a HUGE number of new troops! Go 'Lita! However, the new troops will be given bad names because 'all the good names have been taken'.

Issue #31 - There's a big change here! Megatron is NOT the original Decepticon leader. There were at least 3 before him. That leaves us with a LOT of questions. How did the war start? How did the Decepticon movement start? Who were the other leaders? What happened to them? How was Megatron chosen as the latest leader? Why did he accept the role? What was the situation on Cybertron at the time? And so on....

The pacing of this series is painfully slow. One issue a month with multiple threads going but only one thread gets covered a month. Am I the only one finding it frustrating?

Issue 31 ends on a pretty high cliff ... and issue 32 shifts to Cybertron.

Maybe it's just me ...

From that, I'm going to assume SkyBound is best suited to trades? Haven't picked up an issue yet. But if it is written for trade. Better to know now, before I jump in.

My thoughts exactly. I've been debating reading the 1st trade I found at the book store.

Since the DWJ run ended and Kirkman took over, I feel the issue is that this comic needs 2 issues per month and not 1, it makes Kirkman feel he needs to cram the issues more and jump around, where it could be streamlined with 2 per month.

I wasn't a bid fan of 25-30, but it has improved since then, again I think it was crammed/rushed due to lack of page space per month to run the stories.

Also, I saw someone mention this, but Megatron feels very different under Kirkman compared to DWJ. DWJ had a more Godfather like characterization, whereas Kirkman feels more unhinged.

I haven't been able to read the released trades yet, but I did browse through the 1st one recently, and I must say the art style was not appealing at all. I really want to get into the story, but how can I if I don't like what I'm looking at? I did hear that Thundercracker has become a part of Superion. Did he switch sides and become an Aerialbot?

I've been enjoying the TF stuff for the most part. It feels a bit slow though. Not enough substance and other parts of the "Energon Universe intrude a bit. This latest issue kinda felt this way.

Additionally, I dunno if you guys feel it appropriate to discuss other parts of the universe here, but I have been reading Void Rivals (generally excellent), G.I. Joe (middling at best), and now M.A.S.K. And issue 3 of MASK just puts me ill at ease with how much they're adding to the universe. Fine, ROM is appearing in Void Rivals, where he ought to fit well enough, but having Miles Mayhem being some kinda acolyte to Baron bloody Karza has the stink of IDW's Revolution misstep all over it. Fine, they are slowly building it up instead of throwing all the toys in together in a half-assed event and saying "this is the status quo," like IDW did, but still. They better not add another series to this universe when I am already considering dropping GI Joe.
