So I decided to order Magna Convoy via proxy direct from e-Hobby. If everything goes smoothly I'll post a guide on how to do it. Right now I'm at 8,100JPY (US$71) after tax and shipping to the proxy service. Hardest part was trying to make sure I got the address right. Shipping and proxy fee is estimated at about $15 if the weight at BBTS is accurate so that's US$86 total if all goes well. Great price compared to US$95 plus shipping at HLJ or US$110 plus shipping at the usual importers.

We'll see what happens in May.

Maybe I should do a test run with Cloud Shockwave... :-?

(edit) There's a payment hold from e-Hobby for $70.93 on my bank account so that's one hurdle. :)

It's Magna Convoy's ship. It doesn't have Astrotrain's (or Sentinel Prime's) color scheme.

I remain amazed at how well this mold has held up. And we get him in Blue!!!

Definitely one for the Diaclone shelf.

is this the retirement figure for this mold? It's had a long run. Still got my original. Also by looking at that comic I'm glad I got Straxus (or Darkmount, whatever) again. Despite some flaws with the figrue (and it's small size for a character often portrayed as being pretty chunky) I do like it and it was super cheap.

I don't know what it is, but the 2006 Classics Voyager Optimus Prime mold is just timeless. It's been in use for almost 11 years now, and every time a new repaint comes out, I wanna snatch it up. It's a very satisfying figure, even though it's got some flaws, even though engineering has improved greatly since then, and even though Hasbro and Takara Tomy could probably do a much better definite "Classics/Neo-G1" Optimus Prime mold now, something about this 2006 mold will always hold a special charm for me.

Magna Convoy really rocks the mold with that beautiful blue deco too. Blue is my favorite color, so yeah, there's no way I can pass on this. You win again, e-Hobby!

Easy to miss, in the earliest images they appeared to be using silver paint, the chrome didn't come until later.

I really love how vibrant the colors look in the new photos. Can't wait for this to come out!

Yeah it's still a fun mold if a bit clunky and the original has been my G1 Prime since I got it for christmas 2006 (the only time in my adult life I ever received a Transformer as a christmas present) and I pose it with the recent Titans Megatron. I don't need loads of redecoes of it myself. Did have the all white 'Ultra Magnus' and Skywarp double pack for a while but sold that within a few months. Anyways sounds like this figure is ideal for you so enjoy. :)

Fellow Seibertronian Emerje has contacted us with some news regarding the e-Hobby exclusive Transformers figure Magna Convoy - specifically, the slight delay in its release, initially planned for this month (May), and now moved to early June as the listing also shows. While this is indeed very little difference, we appreciate the confirmation!

Emerje wrote:e-Hobby announced in today's newsletter that Magna Convoy has been delayed for "various circumstances" from late May (believed to be today) to a more specific June 5. The product page has been updated with the new date.

I want to "complete" my convobat, but I'm not sure to want to buy the complete figure only for the claw weapon.
I wonder if people who get him will accept to resell the weapon.

Well they are mutated sea monsters, so they are supposed to look somewhat strange.

What exact issues did you have with them?

My BBTS Piranacon is in storage, but it did not have any deformations on the figures themselves. They did have some looseness in certain joints, but beyond that, they look pretty crisp, close to the originals.

Mold degradation generally manifests itself with loose joints and issues in transformation, but generally not with deformed parts or unsightly molding problems.

Even Classics Prime and more so with the classics Seeker mold which both are in the double digits number of uses have shown no actual deformations of the mold. They can suffer from looseness in joints in certain cases, but the actual molding is still functional.

Piranacon has seen a few re-releases but nowhere near the amount of uses seen by the Prime and the Seeker mold.

Another sign of degradation is molded detailing looking less sharp and crisp, but you'd really need to look closely and compare to actually see that. Plus, it's quite possible that the Classic Prime tooling has been restored in some minor areas.

True.

But super unsightly deformation of sculpted surfaces has not been seen, I think, beyond G1 Jazz's mouth.

That Bludgeon also uses Getaway's face in a clever repaint and also there is a mini tank gun.

There is no way it is not happening that Bludgeon is way to specific in the parts to just be a one off.

Not to mention he comes with a redeco of Terri-Bull's vehicle aka Tankette. And I wouldn't be so sure about it happening, we still haven't seen Soundwave. I'd still want it to happen.

And is it me, or Bludgeon getting a lot of love lately. TFCC, RiD2015, and now this!

Was their a Soundwave besides the current leader one which I believe Takara already has?

I think Bludgeon is the next exclusive after Blue convoy just like how the latter was with Convobat.

Anyways it's good Bludgeon is getting love since he is one of the coolest cons yet doesn't have much presence besides the comics and a couple of phone games so if he is going to be in Rid that makes it his first animated media to date.

Courtesy of Twitter user NikorasuD, we have some new in-hand images of Takara Tomy Transformers Legends LG-EX e-Hobby exclusive Magna Convoy (the latest reuse of the Classics Optimus Prime mold), with its chromed parts, sword and gun pack.

Thanks to Twitter user burningheartsam, we have a look at the comic that came packaged with the figure, with its English translation of the brief dialogue, and cross-use of accessories in the line. And via オンスローター a rendition, using Hardhead and Getaway's Titan Master, of the possibly teased Bludgeon figure people are expecting to surface next. Check it all out below!

Yup, a Beast Wars Soundwave one. A Mutant with a bat and alligator mode (and GPS, sigh), he's depicted as Mindwipe with the Nightbeat head.

That does look to be the Generations Sword, which has some (5mm?) rectangular clips/pegs on either side (visible in the panel) that HasTak seems to use a bit for transformation. I think I do remember Hardhead having some. Will check when I get the chance, unless someone beats me to it.

It's the Rid Windblade Sword since it has the 5mm peg on the sheath and it's a "thicker" sheath.

You're right, the peg is in a different place on the Generations one. Also, scrolling back, I see someone beat me to it before I even started.

Transformers Go! Hunter Ratchet? What's he doing there and why is he wearing a Cybertron Alliance cape? TFWiki doesn't have any info I could find on him, they stuck him in Prime Ratchet's section even though this version is a Decepticon. Or was he a zombie? I can't remember... Ah, found his figure bio on TFU. He was captured by the Decepticons, injected with dark energon and made evil. I'm guessing they've repurposed the figure for someone else? The red cape would indicate that in this universe he's the Decepticon supreme commander, right?

Bludgeon appears to be based in part on Hasbro's RID2001 Bludgeon, the white stripes on the shoulders and green canon give it away.

Yeah, I want that as a figure.

And I see now that I need to get a MP Delta Magnus.

Anyway, my experiment ordering Magna Convoy directly from e-Hobby appears to have been a great success. If he ships today he should be here by the end of next week. Grand total came to about $72 for the figure and $22 for shipping via Air (could have shipped SAL for $5 less) and proxy fee (Tenso.com) for a grand total of $94 (could have been $89 with SAL). Better and faster than the $110 from TFSource and BBTS.

I'm thinking of writing a guide, but I'll hold off until it actually arrives. I'm experimenting with Takara Tomy Mall as well, put myself in for their TTS Black Convoy (Scourge) purchase lottery, we'll see what happens. *fingers crossed*
