The Hot Wheels x Transformers Bumblebee transforms from the Autobot scout into his classic 1967 Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle mode, complete with a matte yellow weathered finish, Autobot graphics, tinted blue windows, molded black interior, ZAMAC die-cast body and custom Real Riders wheels. In car mode, it looks exactly like the kind of premium collectible you'd expect from Mattel.
Robot mode is a little more compromised. As you can see in the pictures below, Bumblebee has a noticeably elongated torso, and the backside of that same torso is largely hollow. It's not his prettiest robot mode, but squeezing a transforming, articulated robot into an actual 1:64 scale Beetle was bound to require some sacrifices. It is what it is.
Bumblebee features 13 points of articulation and comes in a premium window box designed to showcase both modes.
The Mattel Creations exclusive went up for pre-order September 17th for $65, with a limit of three per customer, and is currently scheduled to ship on or before March 5, 2027. You can pre-order it on mattel.com.
