KO Toys has in hand picture of Reveal the Shield Grapple. They appear to have mistakenly labeled this as "United" Grapple, but the head color reveals it to be the Western market version.

Note that the hook is unpainted/unchromed, the forearm guards are fixed and no longer rotate, and that it appears the RtS version is perhaps a lighter shade of yellow/orange than what we've previously seen.

I'm still going to pick him up but these pictures make him look a lot less impressive.

I'll probably pick him up when I see him. I still need to recoup my loses from going TF crazy on eBay. But hopefully by the time he comes out I'll have my TF budget back to normal.

I think I may enjoy this version more thann the United version, though I'll need to see comparison pics too.

I knew about the silver paint, I knew about the arms being rounder, what I didnt know is the change of arm mold with no rotating arm guards, is this hasbro changing the mold for cosmetic reasons? I though hasbro would only ever do that if it was something substantial to the figure, nice touch I like it.

"Hasbro are surely more than meets the eye"

I might pick him up if I ever see him. I havent ebay'd for a while and I can't be bothered with the hasstle anymore :(

I think they removed a moving part from the toy as a cost cutting measure to balance out the remolded head and crane. :-(

Since I never got the Inferno version, I'll definitely get this guy. If I have the cash.

I have liked this less and less since first hearing about it. I wish they would have just re-painted the awesome Inferno mold, rather than remold it. It's not about G1-ness, I just think they missed the mark on this one, as the head isn't too great. I could even have lived without a new head.

Hmm.. they both look pretty good. I'm leaning towards the United version, as the yellow head differentiates him from Inferno more. But the price difference may be the deciding factor here.

Nice job Habro/Takara on so much remoulding. I'll definitely be picking up some version of Grapple in addition to Inferno because of this.

Good. Looks like he's not quite as bright of a yellow as he had looked in previous pictures.

They even remolded some of the side panels.

I really like what they have done with it.

Hmm...on the fence with this guy. I like the vehicle detail. He would look good beside my movie collection too.

They did, and I think it suffers for it. That and they really got stingy on the paint apps. I dunno about everyone else, but I like to see more than 2 colors of plastic and a paint app here or there. Detail is very important in bringing these out of the realm of toys and into detailed robot collectibles. Especially in a larger toy like this. Not that I'd buy it anyways since don't collect Grapples, but still. :P

Yeah yeah, I know. :lol: Really, they're just not living up to precedents set in the past. There's a noticeable decline in paint apps in each line after RiD. It was tolerable until recently, when they stopped doing exhaust pipes, emblems and tail lights. =;

I'd rather they give me fully painted figures, I've got a huge backlog selection of wargame figures to "practice" painting skills. ;)

No gun that always sucks. The grey plastic annoys me and hurts my eyes so i'll get the Takara version.

Freakin' A man!! The head on the Takara version is tip-top, the chrome hook is cool, and unless I just can't spot the Autobot symbol on the Hasbro version, the Takara version has that point. The only other beef I got with the Takara version is the open hand crap. But with no gun then no closed fist to pry it out from I suppose.

And what is the deal with the symbols not being visible on some TF's in their alt-mode? Is it because of the whole rub being back? Some one let me know...but United Grapple is choice 'nuff said! :CON:

Why is everyone griping about his gun? Grapple was a builder not a fighter. Give him a welding hand instead.

Yeah but when he was not welding and building he was a soldier...am I wrong? When Ratchet wasn't patching up Autobots he was a soldier with at least 1 gun blazing. Ehh what do I know but that's my 2 cents and to clarify one more time United Grapple is the better choice 'nuff said! :CON:
