New Photos of Earthrise Arcee Show why the Backpack was Made to Detach

We have new images from Japan showing Transformers Earthrise deluxe Arcee and it's pretty clear now why the designers opted for a detaching backpack. Basically, keeping that backpack on, which is still an option, makes for the biggest backpack ever seen in Transformers toy history. It's worse than any of the usual toys we make fun of for instance. She seems to have even less alt mode integration than Cybertron Thunderblast.

We do see one of these photos from Takara showing the figure with the bulkiest bits of the backpack removed and turning into a hoverboard. However, we see there that even with those bits removes, we still don't get the typical Arcee silhouette. Let us know if you think this is an improvement over the previous Generations/Legends Arcee and if you will be getting this toy when it comes out later this year.

Wasn't this really unconvincing hoverboard in the renders published Toy Fair weekend?

I think part of the backpack is mistransformed. There's supposed to be a gap between the "shoulder pylons", right?

Lol, that Arcee is seriously PACKING for quite the mountain trek!

Still getting her though.

YIKES that is an enormous backpack. On the plus side, I can see enterprising Shapeways designers making full vehicle kibble replacements for her to convert her into completely different characters.

I bet Hasbro / Takara will be there first.

Thunderblast anyone?

Well that's quite the pack to back. So is this what happens when you try to reinvent the wheel?

When they go to make her into the paradron medic, they could have a complete medical bay on her back.

Well it's cool to see he does have a new head, but I still don't really see the point of this Optimus, and it honestly just concerns me that the chances of getting Shattered Glass Prime are lower.

YRQRM0 wrote:Also, would've been a lot more interested if he had normal colors with the trailer, or didn't have the trailer with his death colors. I don't see the point of it with this scheme.

Parts of the trailer are molded on the same sprues as parts of the figure, so it has to share the color scheme and they can't make the figure without the trailer (presumably). I feel like this gets brought up every time Prime is mentioned...

Also Arcee continues to just look to be a bad figure, so easy pass.

Tech wise, the T-30 Arcee seem to be the better mold.

william-james88 wrote:A new video on youtube shows us a good look at the upcoming Sleep Mode Optimus Prime figure (also known as dead Optimus Prime). So firstly, that confirms that we are getting one. Secondly, we get a good look at the robot mode and it features a new headsculpt based on his look in the movie when he died. This would be the very first time the concept of a dead G1 Optimus Prime was sold by Hasbro since so far it was always exclusive Takara redecos.

You can watch the video from Swift Transform below which features a comparison with Transformers Earthrise Leader Class Optimus Prime.

He's dead, Jim.

Arcee is a great big pass. Kudos for it having more curves at deluxe sized than fanstoys but those feet are awful, she must have bathed them in the same hot spring as earthrise prime but for a bit longer. Sticking with the platinum box set and the TR version.

Did we know about Arcee's unpainted face before now?

Pretty sure it looked like that in the renders.

The renders do show the very tip of the hood folded in. These pictures seem to show a hinge at the same point, but I can't tell if that part is a separate piece.

The T-30 one is still available (and much better looking) on BBTS, but the catch is you can only get her paired with with T30 Chromia for $29.99.

Just another option for anyone who is Arceeless and underwhelmed by the ER version.
