Dengeki Hobby is a pretty reliable source for quality pictures of new and sought after Transformers: Masterpiece figures; appropriate, given that they focus on collectables. Today is no exception, with several new photos of the highly sought after MP-43 Beast Wars Megatron! Below, you can see the latest addition to the Masterpiece lineup in all his show-accurate glory, from several angles. Also shown are the myriad accessories he comes with, as well as size comparisons with MP-41 Dinobot and MP-32 Optimus Primal who is set to be reissued next year.

Cobs, I'm actually going to suggest you pass on him. There'll be another release, probably toy colors with mutant mask, and it'll pair up much better with your Supreme Commander

But really though, I totally see you waiting on a version with the mutant mask to go with MP-38, even if Megatron didn't appear in the movie that Primal was based on (I think I got that right)

I’m going with AmiAmi, they have him on preorder for the yen equivalent of $240. That’s something I can personally justify. Better than $320, anyway. I’m doing the same with Dinobot, it’ll save me around $40-50.

Nippon Yassan has him at only $212 USD plus unlike Amazon, they help you with customs by not putting a high price. So thats where I will be going. IN the end, he will not be my priciest TF purchase afterall (honour goes to Encore Fort Max!)

The price is largely irrelevant to me as I decided to support the whole line. With one exception so far being the repaint of Optimus Primal. MP-32 is superior, so there is no need to buy MP-38 at all.

Wow. That’s a crazy good price for Megatron. Wonder how their shipping prices are. I’ve never heard of them before, but they’ve got some decent prices, and a good selection. I might have to try them out later in the year.

For now, I went with my gut and preordered from Amiami as soon as I was able to. First time ordering from them. Turns out their price is better than my usual go-to HLJ, so I’m not disappointed.

But since Season 1 Megatron (the biggest character of Season 1) was designed to be the cornerstone that all of the BW Masterpieces would be designed around, Transmetals of anyone likely aren't gonna happen.

Not to mention how Japan just simply gives no beans about Transmetals. It's ironic, when you think about it. The two more popular seasons of the show in the West were the least popular ones in Japan. Japan only really cares about BW Season 1 and... maybe Lio Convoy.

Those are repaints, so its irrelevant. A real comparison would bethe odds of getting a Transmetal MP compared to a G1 original mold like Dreadwing.

I think what he's trying to get across is that the Transmetals are generally larger characters than the season 1 guys, and because S1 Megatron is what all characters in the BW line are scaled around, a lot of the MP Transmetal characters, if made, would be larger and thus more expensive than MP-43 (take Rampage, for example).

I imagine that someday, years from now, we will get TM MPs. But let's wait until we get the entire season 1 cast first, even if Megs, Dinobot, and a reissued Primal are the only 3 MPs I plan to get from BW

Being the figure that everything else is scaled around isn't the same as being the ceiling of the line. Plus I would think a TM would be cheaper even if it's bigger because there's really no need to do sound chips in another Megatron and the transformations for TM characters are faaaar more straightforward than the season 1 designs meaning less panels and a smaller parts count.

Deter. 100% deter. I've got to put my foot down at some price point, and I think 300 bucks is about it.

Anime Export has him at $237 USD. You’re going to pay shipping through the wazoo but they also have a reissue MP Primal for $81 so combine shipping and pick them both up for about 300. I’m just bummed I didn’t also pick up dinobot for $180
