This might mean that the Human Alliance line might be canceled, or more likely be released under a different name.

Hmm... My Walmart has only one open slot for the super crammed TF section and the HA guys, both of them are kind of shoved in sideways in a corner. Doesn't sound like they have a slot there.

It wouldn't surprise me. They don't sell well, there. For one, they charge $5.00 more than the MSRP. Two, they don't even restock with new stuff.
It's no wonder that they'd want to pull 'em, if that's the case.

I was once told by a Toys R Us employee that the next MP toy released would be Hot Rod, following MP01 Optimus Prime.

I thought more about this. The guy at TRU might be right. If it's not on the planogram (or whatever they use) for the season (not the year, just the reset), then perhaps they're not carrying them until later in the year.
Some Targets have already clearanced out their stock of MMPR toys. Some don't even carry them right now. And there's a new wave coming for Christmas.

I was always under the impression that the "X" just meant that there weren't any more in the warehouse. That's how I usually know when the next Minimates wave is about to hit.

Well to be fair, that was a month and a half ago. Try going back and checking these days. The TRU that I frequent most had that same stock about two months ago too. A couple weeks ago, they had nearly none of that. A bunch of ROTF Deluxe peg warmers, 3 Animated figures, and a couple of the universe Darkwind figures (or whatever its name was). That was about it.

The UK website is out of stock on all leaders, HA, voyagers, delux and scouts whenever I check. Has been for months.
