Scalextric Racing Set Images and Press Release

Posted by Calenatarion Apr 26, 2007 at 2:17pm CDT 18,711 views
On Transformers @ The Moon have posted some new images of the Transformers Movie car racing set from Scalextric. They also have a press release regarding this new set, which can be found here.

The set will include the Movie version of Bumblebee and Barricade. The special thing about this set is also that both figures can transform into their robot modes! While in their robot modes, they can 'extend' their arms to knock off the other racer.

Click here for the images and here for the press release from Scalextric.

More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

For some strange reason the URL doesn't work. (probably because of the comma's) So just copy past the url (http://www.scalextric.com/news-and-even ... 3,SNS.html) and check the release.

Im repainting the hell out of those as Runabout and Runamuck...

Cool in a 'cashing in on my childhood' sort of way.

The whole 'combat racing' idea is nice, my little brother and I would do the same thing with our slotcar set, only the only way to fight was to win the race...

However, the track seems overly dull and a 'decorated map' isn't enough. It's flat! Where are the banked turns, the overpasses, the loops?

It's... pretty much exactly as I imagined it, actually :) That's... that's brilliant :)

I like it, but I don't know if I would use it enough to justify buying one.

If the cars are interchangeable to a REAL track, then maybe it could work. Its a cool concept, just overly cheesy.

It's the same scale as other Microscalextric sets, so the track should be compatible. There's a set in my Toys'r'us called 'Mini Mayhem' (with Mini Coopers, obviously) that has a fairly interesting layout and would go well with this.

Its a decent set with plenty of variety.
The gimmick is fairly lame, but it could have been worse.
Im not a fan of crash intersections, but I think its the other big selling point of this set (the main one being the transformation)

Didn't they have these about 20 years ago?

They kinda look like those pop up toys(forgot their actual names).

But I can see this being real fun to play with.

Runabout and Runamuck?

Man, I'm totally getting one of these for the studio.

It's like the McDonalds Transformers had sex with cars, and the outcome was....that.
