We're barely a week out since the official reveal of the second part of the Transformers Generations: War for Cybertron Trilogy. Hasbro and Takara have dubbed the second chapter "Earthrise," an apt description given the very 1980's Earth-mode centric nature of the first wave of characters, coming in 2020. Thanks to In Demand Toys on Facebook and a tip from Seibertron.com forum member Survivefan23, we've got a first glimpse at what the packaging will look like for the act to follow up Transformers Generations: War for Cybertron Trilogy - Siege. The packages will be very similar in appearance in Earthrise to their Siege counterparts, with the angled side cut on the left front face of the package, the "Transformers: War for Cybretron Trilogy" emblem on the front, and some great character artwork adorning the sides. We've got samples of Voyager Class Autobot Grapple and Decepticon Starscream for you to enjoy below.

We've also got a picture of the upcoming Leader Class Decepticon Astrotrain, slated to be the final Leader Class figure of the Siege line this winter. The box is still in the Siege format, of course. Though, keep in mind that Astrotrain is also slated to be re-released along side Leader Class Earthrise Optimus Prime in the first wave of product in 2020. It's unknown if Astrotrain will still be in the Siege packaging for his 2020 release, or if he will be changed over to the Earthrise packaging. At any rate, take a look below at the infamous triple changer in his Siege packaging.

I think he means G1 Downshift and not the Energon/Cybertron one.
I know. That's why I asked why not Slicer.

and they will find a way to do the other 2 Omnicons too, as this years Powerdashers.

Oh I want Grapple, Starscream and Astrotrain sooo bad... And Hoist, Scorponok, the micromasters and the bases.

I will say that Starscream's in package photo does actually make me want to pick him up. I didn't pick up Siege Screamer, but I think I may pick up Earthrise Screamer. I am hoping we get the Coneheads from this mold though. I'd be extremely disappointed if we didn't get them from an exclusive or through Generation Selects

Hey, if we're predicting exclusives then here's a couple I want because I know they don't stand a chance of happening at retail.

Sunstorm vs. Hauler Voyager 2 pack from Starscream and Grapple

Unicron heralds Hook, Line, and Sinker deluxe 3 pack retooled from Ironworks and friends (maybe save for 2021)

Hubcap (or Bumper) from Cliffjumper (I could see this one at retail possibly)

Mini-Spies repainted from random characters (it does get more obscure than Powerdashers!)

Pepsi Optimus Prime Electrum Optimus Prime, no real reason, just think that mold would look good in gold

Rad from Siege Prowl et al mold and a new head because Lionizer needs his partner

Do you think we can get an Overlord into commander class for Decptiocons? Or Titaldwave? Who can fit into this category for Deceptions? I really hope for a new Overlord, it will be great!

Y'know what deco I'd like to see this new Optimus mold in? The Year of the Horse Masterpiece Optimus deco. I've always loved that deco, and I think it'd be a good way to get some gold on this new Optimus without going full-on drenched in gold chrome.

I was gonna do an edit of it myself using the Earthrise Optimus cg stock photo, but I did not have the patience to even start it at the time, and still do not.

Since Megatron is essentially locked into a SIEGE-like tank design of some kind, how about another G1 leader replaces him in the Earthrise line?

Indeed, there is a significant list. Even outliers like Dreadwing could be brought into prominence through the WFC line. Especially as the Masters are all being given new utility since SIEGE.

Wouldn't suprise me if he's already tried to make it both a G1 toon accurate gun mode and a sub marine..

The rumours could be true about a leader Class armoured car that would serve as a Cybertron Megs homage...but I've got the feeling those rumours are debunked sadly.

Still it would be refreshing for a different lead villain for each part of WFC. There are plenty out there, after all. I would say it would be nice for both faction leaders to be different with each part... But alas, Prime is too deeply inserted into this Geewun design team  :BANG_HEAD:

It is pathetic. It is like when X-Men goes through those Low phases of putting Wolverine in the spotlight. Because (A) the writer is a fanboy (B) Mandate specifies the most bankable face needs to be in everything.

Pretty sure it's more money related than "writing" or "fanboi" related. Prime brings the bucks, he gets made. Even if it's unnecessary. (I'm looking at you, Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime.)

Meanwhile the irony lost on those that perpetuate that mandate, introduce other characters with that level of exposure would bring in money too. If they were given the opportunity.

It is one of the reasons Scorponok will stick out like a sore thumb with his release next year. His contemporary will have already been released years prior. He can't exactly scale against anyone else. Unless Star Saber or Dai Atlas are brought out in Commander Class? Sticking so rigidly to overexposing the same old tired faces has meant all these line suffer from such imbalances the further on they go.

That said I did speculate we might see a more 'proper' remake of G2 Megatron, as he was the first Megatron to bear the tank mode. That said, a gun Megatron is basically never going to happen as it would require him to be some futuristic gun or some NERF gun and such ideas are too different to properly pander to the MUH GEEWUN crowd.

Ratbat, despite being a tape, was Decepticon leader for a while in the Marvel comics, just skip whatever Megatron they come up with and keep the "Micromaster" around after Siege.

While people shrieked about RUINING THEIR CHILDHOOD, I think Roddy and Galvatron are well liked enough by the fanbase that I would not be shocked if they reappeared in Generations soon enough, in spite of having been in TR and POTP. People disliked the gimmicks on those and complained. I suspect a Voyager Rodimus and a Leader Galvatron remain plausible additions to the final chunk of this trilogy.

I mean we haven't had a cliffjumper, hoist or grapple from this new team at all yet, ironworks is entirely new, and it'll be about 3-4 years since our last wheeljack when the new one comes out, so I'd say that this line-up is actually kinda fresh; they could have just done earth mode bb, prowl, ironhide, etc. but they didn't I can appreciate this even if I don't care for all of them too much

Better still, imagine if there were successful lines that actually eclipsed G1 and are more deserving of praise and accomplishment? Via TV IE The Beast Era and some from extensive alternate World building IE The Unicron Trilogy.

But, that of course, never happened. We are forever trapped in the same three miscellaneous years of a decade long dead, after all. :BANG_HEAD:

Beast Wars was irredeemable any way you turn it, of course. Even had Megatron’s name not been besmirched by the presence of the Pretender, even had the series not spit upon everything that was ever excellent about Transformers, there were no worthwhile characters in the mix. I’m told there’s practically no Usenet discussion at all anymore about BW characters. They failed to capture the imagination and incite the passion that the multi-faceted, compelling, and awe-inspiring G1 characters were capable of. Beast Machines was an amusing side-trip into the back alleys of obscurity, serving only to invalidate Beast Wars further, and with that I have no complaint - but there were certainly no merits of characterization to be found. For all the clamor the Beast-series caused, no sooner were the shows off the air, than the flash in the pan sizzled out. It is a most fitting journey into extinction.

Raksha on Beast Wars, in the late '90. Interesting to see how this was both proven quite wrong yet also so right...because people with such a mentality are those running the brand right now. >:oP

Considering the fact BW hasn't had a dedicated line whereas the Movie has its own 'Generations' line in the form of Studio Series I'm inclined to unfortunately more and more agree with the G1 purists that ultimately BW wasn't as big a deal as those who grew up on it thought. Its influence on the franchise was more one of style and concepts more than marketable characters and designs.

I've always felt that Beast Wars, especially the later seasons, influenced the movie designs greatly.

Design-wise, Beast Wars was a bit of a transitional period which got reverted during the Unicron Trilogy. This is still relevant to the thread of Earthrise, what with its G1 cartoon look. BW robot modes tended toward the more organic even without going into Transmetal designs. The G1 toys (and by extension, the current crop of Generations) tend toward a more clearly geometric look, as expected of an '80 robot. This is a design style we see continue even in neo-G1 and was arguably the result of toy engineering at the time.

Beast Wars, taking cue from late G2, was heavy on balljoints which, as it happen, are something which has decreased in use in recent years with Siege. In general, you'll note that BW design are more likely to have bits and pieces of the exposed robot mode that is more distinct from the organic (or biomechanical, in the case of Transmetals). Even Transmetals, early on, kept this design element. The robot has a different styling, texture and color from the alternate mode whereas Generation 1 tend to, in general, keep this a bit more blurred barring exposing more grey/white/black/some tertiary more neutral color in robot mode.

Take the example of Cheetor, whose design is arguably just an animal version of the 'hood chest' car-former. His robot mode has blue and gold...colors which didn't remotely exist on a Cheetah and made engineering his toy harder for Masterpiece. Or Dinobot, who is also a metallic color and blue on an otherwise all brown and beige beast mode.

1980-style design are, from a toy designer standpoint, easier and more coherent. I'm not saying one is superior to the other but there is a certain elegant simplicity to the chunky 1980 Diaclone reuse robot and car modes.

I think part of the issue is that G1's constantly getting reboots whereas BW gets the occassional bone thrown to them. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. People remember G1 more because they're constantly exposed to G1 (or G1 substitutes), but BW basically had the line, and then no further reimaginings for characters

It's where the majority of the fans are.

If Beast wars was in it's place it would be them that would be getting the G-Wun treatment.

I like original things and characters a lot and would like to see more liberties taken but I find the whole "why do they pander to G1 crowd" complaints to be well...dumb

It was the most successful and well known overall, Beast Wars was well known for it's time but it didn't leave the same type of mark and mass recognition that G1 did, that might not be the case for many in the fanbase overall but this is certainly the case for the general people.

To be honest outside of their time I don't think people realize that the G1 fans don't actually have as much of a bone thrown at them as others think, for example they still don't have that live action G1 film that's a literal dream for a lot of people.

Bumblebee is as close as you'll ever get and its still more than anyone who is a fan of other parts of the franchise will get. If you like Beast Wars, the Unicron Trilogy or Animated you are shit out of luck. These series are 100% done and over with. In Animated's case we didn't even get the fourth season!

Animated at least got an ending.

Bumblebee was a smaller and still very Bayformer like film since only 1 of 3 main Transformers were even in G1, was 3 minutes of Cybertron enough to scratch the itch that people want?

No it probably was not compared to the 10 years of "freshness" that the Bayformers had provided for those film's fans.

And yeah if you liked those other parts of the franchise you are out of luck, their not as popular or well remembered as the original which was G1.

Least we remember that generations Beast Wars figures were mostly shelf warmers, at least the recent ones like the thrilling 30 guys.

It's like with Star Wars, the most beloved was the original trilogy, not the prequels, not the sequels but the original, what do more people like the older expanded universe or the new canon more? It tends to almost always be the one that came first.
