Video Review - Transformers Age of Extinction One-Step Helicopter Drift

Posted by Va'al Oct 23, 2014 at 4:45am CDT 34,670 views
Fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999 brings us another Transformers: Age of Extinction video review, taking a look at one of the later additions to the One-Step line of figures with Helicopter Drift. Check out his thoughts and review below!

When I first saw the promo pics I was really excited to see a helicopter Drift figure. First it's better detailed than the car version and the overall design of the helicopter is closer to what we saw in the movie. Unless there's a power battler version coming of this design I can see no reason not to recommend this figure.

Anyone have any more information on this yet?
That's just the Platinum Edition set. They put the wrong title on that news post.

Really? They looked so much more cooler than the Platinum edition. But the more I look, the more I can see the similarities. Darn it! Well maybe the set won't be so bad after all if only they weren't translucent which they seem to be in that link.

I don't mind terribly that they're translucent, I just hope that it's more of the cloudy-grey kind of translucent instead of straight up clear.

Fxfranz already did a review of this guy several weeks ago, but I guess you only give a shit about a review of these 1-step changers when your old pal Chuck reviews them.

As we have said more than once, we are unable to cover all reviews unless users send us a notification at news@seibertron.com. Chuck sends us notifications whenever he uploads one, and if it's new to our news feed, it goes onto the front page.

Please do send us more news whenever you come across it, we're only (stupidly busy) humans volunteering our time as staff! :D

I will admit that this one step Drift is nifty. Im not a fan of this simple stuff but that works pretty well, though not really one step.

I know right? I go back and forth about which one I like more, Drift or Galvatron.

I'm looking forward for that Galvatron. So far the pictures I've seen look promising. If you already made a video review of him, link please?

Also, what do you think about that ultra/leader sized 1-step changer Lockdown? Appart the blue "side mirrors" in vehicle mode and the lack of posability of the legs, I think he's sweet looking, fun, and a great stand-in for the Leader Lockdown figure that will never be.

If you're looking for Galvatron, look around here on Wednesday. Do you mean the flip and change Lockdown? I've heard that the toy has a flaw where the head gets stuck going into robot mode. I have and reviewed drift but wasn't that thrilled with it, especially when I almost smacked myself in the face.

Age of Extinction Wave 3 figures have been spotted at Canadian retail. Here is a picture of Hot Shot taken at Walmart in Laval (on boulevard Saint Martin).

The other figures that come with this figure in the box are Bumblebee (in his updated form) and Snarl were already sold at the time this picture was taken.

Also of note, fellow fan and video reviewer Felzbug has posted a video review of Age of Extinction Hot Shot. (G1 Tracks deco)

Good news! Walmart always seem to have the new stuff first.

BTW, the Target Exclusive deluxe Silver Knight Optimus Prime with voyager FOC G1ed Grimlock 2-pack is back at Target. Still only 17$. They have a couple of boxes that remain untouched by the scalpers.

Hey folks stupid question, does anyone know what happened to the Constructbots Dino Riders we were supposed to get of Starscream and other characters from the movieverse? For that matter has the Wal-Mart Strafe with Stinger and Bumblebee set been released yet?

Not sure about the Dino Riders of Starscream and such, but I do know the WM Strafe w/ BB & Stinger is out. It's kinda shelf warming here because of the hefty price tag, $29.99 (for a deluxe & 2 legends?!?)

If you're talking strictly Construct-Bots as far as this post then I can't help you- 'cause I don't know. If the Bumblebee/Stinger/Strafe set you mean is the Deluxe Strafe with Legion 'Bee and Stinger, I've seen that one at a couple of different local Walmarts for several weeks now.

Strictly Constructbots. Strafe is done in the same colors as that exclusive Grimlock and Stinger is a repaint of Bumblebee.

Almost at the end of the simplified Transformers: Age of Extinction line, fellow Seibertron.com user chuckdawg1999 has shared another video review, hitting the Decepticon-but-not-quite-spot with Galvatron. Check out the clip below, and leave a comment on the line - if you picked any up - in the Energon Pub!

I've gone back and forth but I have to say, Galvatron is the best One-Step changer from the AOE line. It has a really unique transformation that's a lot of fun to work back and forth. The details and paint are solid too. If there's one figure to get from this simplified line it really is Galvatron.

Wow. I mean, wow. That 1 step Galvatron is one incredible feat of engeneering! If I ever see him in stores, along with HelocoDrift, I'll pick them up without waiting for any sales.

Know what? At first, I hated the idea of these 1step changers. The early ones were kinda bad too. However, the more they create them, the more they come up with some nifty ideas that end up with some cool results! I'd never thought I would say this, but I'm looking foward to see what will they come up next.
