These colors I'd buy over the boring retail release.

I really like this. The transparent bits look great, just wish the claw would have been done in clear too. This is something I would like to own but consider how much I despise the one that I have(those legs drive me insane just like Sideways') I don't think i'll be trying to put out any big money to attain it.

That color scheme would have been unusual to have seen up on the big screen. Would have made the dessert battle a little easier..
"Who do we blast?"
"Aim at the day-glow green one!!!"

Odd colors even for a prototype

I have the same feelings about that
This feels like G1 constructicons gone wild.
Yea, aren't they usually the grey color?

I like that the auction photos show rather clearly the 'not for sale' label!

I would suspect that it's a final mold test, where they run it through factory conditions with a very limited run and odd colours that might show mold and assembly errors more blatantly than a plain grey or final colour mold.
And grey prototypes are the absolute first prototypes of any figure coming off a mold, where all bits are assembled and checked over for glaring errors. If that's successful, then they'll move on to the final mold test before going into full production.

I see
but with this thing on eBay for auction, wouldn't Hasbro take legal action or atleast eBay removing this auction? Or is it gonna end with like those stolen prototypes a while ago.

Well, there's not much Hasbro can do legally about it. The only reason I posted this as news, was not to attract the fact that the prototype was being sold, but the fact that we get to see what Megatron looked like prior to the full paint job. Like I said, Hasbro can't do much legally about it. They don't actually have full supervision of the factories that make the figures, so that's we why have seen so many figures prior to their release. When it comes to prototypes, they're supposed to die in a fire, but that just isn't the case sometimes. However they've tried their best, making hard prototypes (pre-production samples), as unattractive as possible to buyers. I ain't touching something that says 'Not For Sale'.

I really like the visual design of Voyager Megatron and the combo of green/black/purple works so it'd be neat as an oddity piece in a collection but not for the price it'll probably sell for.
The NFS/not for sale marking also makes me think it's not a great idea to buy it. Not that there'd likely be any issues but who knows?

Is this really a prototype? Maybe it's a repaint we'll see being released in the future

Yes, it's a prototype. Nothing meant to be released would have the NFS sign, and for the love of Primus the colours are terrible.
