Windy City Chase and Road Rival Showdown Released at Retail

Posted by Blurrz Jan 28, 2010 at 12:47pm CST 45,884 views
A few months ago we reported about two two-packs featuring Revenge of the Fallen Scout repaints. They're Windy City Chase, and Road Rival Showdown. The Windy City Chase is composed of a Wheelie-like repaint of Dead End, called Slap Dash. He fights against the Decepticon Trenchmouth, a repaint of Knock Out. The Road Rival Showdown incorporates a battle between the Autobot Beachcomber, a repaint of Dune Runner and the Decepticon Deadlift, the Gobot Spoons like repaint of Dirt Boss.

Recently, we found out the two-packs will be Wal*Mart Exclusives. Energon Pub Member redsaleen has found the two-packs at a Wal*Mart in Connecticut. Look at his sighting below...

I was kinda hoping Beachcomber and Slap Dash were separate releases, not 2 packs. Ah well, their adversary figures look cool too. I'll have to keep an eye out for these.

Is there a NEST sticker for each figure in the 2 pack or is it just 1 sticker for the 2 pack itself?

i did not open them, but it looks like only 1 sticker per set.

Well crap, so much for Spoons. I was really looking forward to this one but it looses some of it's charm without the name. Boo. Boo, I say. :(

He does have kind of a cool name though.

I have never passed on a TF because of the unfortuate name that someone at Hasbro has given it. In fact, most times I don't even remember the name after I have torn it out of the package, I just call it what I call it. Like the Target black repaint of Cybertron Armorhide. No idea what it's called!

That would be Armorhide ;-)

Somehow that's a great name for a Decepticon...Trenchmouth. Sounds nasty! I'll probably buy it for the name alone!

I'll definitely be getting the Beachcomber one too, mainly for the G1 reference. I had him at one point as a kid. He was one of my favorites if I remember right.

RE: --B--

I didn't say I would pass on it, just that it's slightly less cool since they chose not to simply release him as Spoons. Of course they can always retcon him into actually being Spoons, and Deadlift is a really awesome name, so maybe that part will work out eventually. It's true though, Hasbro is great at giving bad names, ones that don't fit, or ones that are just plain wtf? crazy. Like the original version of the figure in question for example: Dirtboss. That's an awful name regardless of who it's attached to, let alone a forklift. Yeah, yeah, Spoons is a ridiculous name too (forklift = Forks?), but it's from Gobots, and Gobots were just weird to begin with! I understand what you're saying, I still buy cool looking TFs regardless of the name on the package, but tell me something -- would Optimus Prime be half as awesome if Hasbro had decided to name him Red Truck? I don't think so.

RE: Energon Is My Drug

Yeah, Trenchmouth is pretty nasty sounding. Perhaps a little too nasty... conjures up images of some sort of disease. :p

Really? Now?

I'm pretty sure I saw these the last time I looked for TFs at Wal-Mart, and that's been weeks ago now...

Now I KNOW it's a GREAT name for a Decepticon!
