Thanks for letting me know. The "green" ebay links are part of a test project that I'm helping my friends at eBay Partner Network with. The test code for this will most likely be removed by end of day on Monday after some proper test data has been accumulated. In the meantime, I thank you for your patience while we (and our friends at eBay Partner Network) test out this feature.

If any of you want to provide any feedback about the words that are being linked or what you think can be done to improve upon the logic, that would also be helpful in the interest of this project.

You will also see some new ebay related links and content posted around the site. I hope that some of it will be useful to all of you, in particular the new "find on eBay" links that you will see on gallery pages, sighting pages, etc. Some of these links include advance ebay searches which many of you can probably take advantage of. Kind of showing my cards, but I think it's something we can all benefit from.

Example: http://www.seibertron.com/transformers- ... id/2895/1/

I dunno what it's like on other computers/browsers, but all the eBay tags are the same color as other links (blue -- running (outdated) Firefox on a (very outdated) MacBook Pro). Which bugs the heck out of me because I assume people are including a helpful link or something.

There's also the slight issue of it potentially ruining spoilers. Like so. (MTMTE 54 spoilers in that link, hence it being a link)

(Plus, as someone who's getting away from this hobby partly because they feel overwhelmed by all the rampant commercialism, turning every post into a shill is the last thing I want to see. But whatcha going to do?)

(Actually, even if I was in the buying mood, I'd never click one of these links anyways. Even the picture links on the sides don't really give me any info to go on (i.e. price, and if it's the cheapest), so I'm just going to manually go to eBay and start up an exact search with lowest prices first. And really? "color"?? What kind of eBay link is that even?)

EDIT: Seriously?
Image
"hobby" "link" "color" "eBay"... isn't trying to prove how useless it is?

I just double checked the RSS feeds to verify that they are working.

I'm not sure if this falls in the realm of an issue with the eBay rover, but I had some issues bringing in a quote to a posting. I used the quote button from the "Topic Review" section at the bottom of a new posting. (I wanted to quote multiple users in one posting.) Using that method, the entire eBay rover link came into my post, and I had to edit it out. It came in as HTML tags, which don't parse in this window. Let me see if I can re-create it below from this thread...nope, no eBay rover links. If I come across it again, I'll save the code for you.

Just thought you'd like to know, Seibs. :D

P.S. in response to Noideaforaname, all the eBay links I have seen are green. I primarily use Chrome for browsing the forum.

[Edit] Okay, I was able to replicate it:

You asked if <a href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?toolid=11600&pub=5574891718&campid=5336631220&customid=smart&icep_ff3=9&icep_uq=transformers%20titans&ipn=psmain&icep_vectorid=229466&kwid=902099&mtid=824&kw=lg" class="epn-link" target="_blank">Titans</a> Return would be given a story in the comic, that's a comic that says "Titans Return" on the cover. You asked if "warden" Fort Max would be used, that's him on the bottom looking over a bunch of dead(?) Titans. ;)

"Titans" was the word in green in the post. I hope this is useful for you!

Checked the site via Safari on both my (old) laptop and my (new) iPhone and the eBay links are green, implying the issue's with Firefox -- or possibly just the very outdated version I'm stuck with for the time being.

EDIT: How exactly does this rover choose what to make into links? On my posts here it's chosen seemingly random words (i.e. "version") over the obvious product names (i.e. "iPhone")

Yes, its very random for me too. If I write that soundwave was found at retail, it would highlight "retail". At least it did last time, no way to tell what it will highlight now.

Edit: ok now it picked up soundwave, that makes more sense.

Just to let you know I'm haven't gotten any articles from the RSS on my phone in days. On my computer it works fine. I use GReader as my mobile RSS reader.

Same here. Made a couple of changes the other day when the server was acting up. Not quite sure which setting I changed that screwed the mails up. Can someone send me a PM to see if a couple of changes I just made just undid that? If not, I have one other thing I will revert back to see if that did it.

I don't know if this is relevant for you, but I have been getting regular/expected email notifications throughout the past week. Could the change have only impacted staff/admins? It seems to be the common thread among a sample size of three... :P

Clicking on "view Discussion" doesnt always bring us to the palce where the article we came from was posted. In this case we end up at the begining of the Combiner Wars thread:

http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... tca/36081/

That happens to me when no one has posted in the thread. The "view discussion" button takes you to the first post after the news was front paged. If there is none, it takes you to the beginning

Don't know why, but I've been having problems with marking individual forums and the topics in those forums as read after I've looked at all topics that are of interest to me. Only two ways I can get them "read" is by going into the thread itself and it works if I'm on the main index page and I click to mark ALL forums read. I cleared my cookies, checked in different browsers, and checked on different computers, but didn't have any effect. Wondered if it is a PHP/SQL error of sorts.

Ah. Well I am a bit of a newer member and wasn't very frequent after I registered here so that's why I didn't realize it had been broken that long. Apologies though. I know I couldn't find anything about it when I ran a very brief search for it, but didn't look too hard admittedly. That's what lead me to posting about it. Thanks for letting me know.

As someone that used to do web programming and even had ran a fan site for a while it's definitely not always as simple as it sounds to fix something like I pointed out. Anomalies in code can do really wacky things often and can even be very tricky to pinpoint.

Plus offline stuff can also cause delays too, but that goes without saying.

I posted a fix that I've been applying by hand personally a few months ago.

You need to that offsite, I'm afraid. Simply resize it with Paint, GIMP, Photoshop, and reupload!

If I try uploading a png, it wont upload, saying it expected an extension jpeg but an extension png was given?

Okay, I uploaded a screenshot, and it appears that png files are okay, since the screenshot IS a png. It's just the specific picture I guess?

I took it with my Laptop Cam, was a picture for the "things your transformers can do that you never realised" thread.

I'm guessing this is the right place to report this, I've been getting redirected to malicious sites recently at random moments while browsing the site.I'm not sure if it's related to ads or not but it'd be greatly appreciated if someone could look into it.
