Also, comment here if you want to hear more topics like the MP retrospective. I think in the future we'll try to make them more focused, we were definitely losing steam by the end there! For instance, I think it would be fun to do a deep dive into just the "MP-10 through MP Tracks" era instead of cramming it all into part of a larger topic.

Great show!

I got a good laugh at the section about the Prime Armor with P/CP and how he uses it to punch and counterpunch

Counterpunch, your kid is precious!

I consider Magnus the start of the cartoon era.

Artfire is fantastic, that extra paint made that version of the mold the perfect version.

Counterpunch, you're bragging rights are really close to some oddballs in my collection, like getting Dropkick, the CW leader Thundercracker, it was cool to hear you picking up so many figures that I had that were sort of random in the grand scheme of things.

I hope I can do one of these with you guys sometime, it sounds like such a blast!

I'd love to do a deeper dive MP retrospective.

Tracks is definitely the end of the super car era / Magnus the beginning of the cartoon era.

I agree Tracks doesn't deserve nearly as much hate as it gets. I also still believe Magnus' lack of waist swivel is still a huge failure despite that toy's fun engineering touches.

^ He looks the same in Headmasters as he did in the US cartoon. White crotch/thighs too!

MP-10 isn't meant to be one particular cartoon OP. Hasui: " The G1 cartoon was what I based (MP-10) on. I do not mean the character setting drawings; I designed him according to the impression we have of the character in the show – a powerful commander, a veteran on the battlefields one can rely on."

First time poster, longer time listener and follower, I just wanted to say I loved the MP retrospective! I'm currently in the midst of backtracking on MP. Just had what I considered important figures beforehand, like MP-10, MP-13, MP-36, etc., but I'm having loads of fun just seeing how the design and engineering has evolved since Tracks, and I'd love to hear a Part 2 to this in-depth look at the line!

I think this was one of the best 'casts in a while. I loved the focus on Masterpiece. I think a series of retrospectives, with the tighter focus you mentioned, would be great. Things that look at the advancement (or regression, depending on your perspective) of the lines over the years.

Sometimes I feel that, even though the podcast might be 2+ hours, it is still too short, as you have to cut topics back, to fit everything in.

This was good, keep it coming.

Sooo, I had my typical reply started, then the Internet ate my homework. Note: Don’t touch your phone’s back button or the site does not save your post text...

I enjoyed this show immensely enough that I want to go back and listen to it all again, so look for that (or not.) Toy talks have always been my favorite part of the Podcast because I get to learn about figures I hadn’t heard of or passed on, and the Minicon hunt stories are usually funny too.

Also, somehow I missed the news that this episode was even live until I saw the picture in the side banner Friday, so I guess I am slacking.

Quick highlights though:

Counterpunch: Defiantely in the running for Toy of the Year. I find it funny how this is the second time CP has had sell-out issues, since the first Club Toy sold out immediately every time they ran that figure. For a Gun, I think Counterpunch looks great holding the rifle fro TR Sentinel Prime, and its a similar profile to his G1 gun. You guys mentioned the cavity in the legs, In Counterpunch Mode I like to store the Punch gun in there. It’s possible to peg it in through the roof-hole from the inside of the leg, becoming an ankle holster. And since it’s in the 5mm Peg hole, its secure.

Sad to hear no one likes Alt. Prime. Sure, as Prime toys go its not as obviously Prime as say Alt Jazz was or Hound (although the Swindle retool is my favorite for the bigger wheels) but I really liked that Alt Prime. It helped though that Mom drove a similar red Dodge truck to the toy tough so I had a bit of Collector Awareness going. And yes, I used the 20th Prime as the leader of the Alternators, it WAS a better fit. But I loved Alt Prime nonetheless.

It's been a while since I have been active around here an a lot has happened in the TF world. I'll be downloading this to listen and catch up on my day off today. I started working a couple weeks ago after not working for a while. Seems I gotta learn how to balance my responsibilies with fun things. I'm really grateful for all the things I have right now. I really miss hanging on here and talking to people. I've got to make a more conscious effort to do so.

After I have a listen I'll report back.

Oh, I couldn’t ask you to accommodate my allergies, that would be shelfish. :michaelbay:

You’re welcome! I interact with you, Counterpunch, Razorclaw and RodimusConvoy from time to time on Twitter so I figured it was time to finally hop on the boards!

Which all things considered, was wise advice at the time.

I could have done without the "contains nuts" bit.
