Also...is it just me, or does that Decepticon symbol look red on the first two pictures. Is this going to be SG Octopunch?

It's not a red symbol, just bad lighting/camera. I love the idea of adding another pretender to the Classics list but I don't feel this mold suits Octopunch. Octopunches needs a diving helmet, tentacles in robot mode, and lots of purple. Octopunch ought to be a submarine.

But there aren't any submarines so Seaspray will have to do. Plus, I've been using Seaspray as a Masterpiece all thins time instead of a Classics figure so as far as I'm concerned, it's all good.

My biggest complaint with most of the reveals isn't execution(save Soundwave), it's mold choice. I'm not a big fan of the Thunderwing mold or the ROTF Bludgeon. Unfortunately, HFTD Seaspray isn't a big one for me either. But, sometimes the character makes all the difference so I'll wait until the head sculpt is revealed.

I'm excited about this but also highly skeptical. Either way i'll never own it so in the big scheme of things.......it doesn't matter i guess.

My favourite thing about Octopunch is the ugliness of his Pretender shell. Not to mention his crab mode. Neither of these qualities will be present. The only thing vaguely Octopunch is the paint apps. So it's not really that fun of a homage to me. I like that he's received a little attention though. That's a positive.

IMHO,The Botcon 2012 octopunch colors that i can see in alt mode are way too similar to HFTD seaspray's colors. the white is still their, the aqua green color is still this. IT'S Botcon deathsauras all over again, with TFCC picking almost similar colors of RID Megatron & tweaking the color shades a bit & adding different/more highlights colors/designs.

I wasn't gonna buy this thing, but I had high hopes it was gonna look drastically different in colors than HFTD Seaspray.

IMHO,I'd rate this a 0 out of 10.

Now lets hope they get the head right and dont have a lightbulb looking helmet or that ugly squid face. I want the robot head but I doubt we will be that lucky.

Or just give him Terradive's trident

Also, if they paint Sea Spray/Deep Dive's waist area correctly, it could be made to look "skull-ish" like the original. Since they went far enough to paint ducks...er, I mean...tentacles, I don't see why they couldn't go the extra mile. 8)

I thought about Terradives trident and tried it out. It's too skinny to fit Seasprays voyager sized open hands and is on the short side for a voyager. But ratbat seems to work.

Sadly, I won't be getting any of the BC toys, but depending on the head, I can see myself wanting this one.

I'm not near it, but would it be possible to fashion a trident out of the Junkion Blacksmith build-any-weapon kits?

IMO, OTFCC nailed it with Deathsaurus. I've never even looked at the 2 figures as the same mold even. The Blues and silver really change the figure for me, Yes some colors are the same but you listed quite a few alterations that the club made (highlighted above).

As for these images of Octopunch, I love it. The some of the colors are a bit muted compared to his G1 self, but the homage is clear. Looking at the robot mode as well, I think he is a good match for the G1 toy as well.

Notice the silver tubing on Seaspray as well as the blue tubing on G1 Octopunch (and the tampograph as well). Color layout will mostly match up based on transformation and he even has odd kibble with the twin fans, similar (yes its a bit of a stretch) to Octopunches tentacles.

Thought Octopunch was going to be the most expensive off pure hype, but the colors are a bit funky. I'm sure he'll look much nicer in robot mode.

You know, Seaspray has these 3 mm clips on his shoulders, I want a 3rd party to design articulated tentacles that connect to those.
Start now please.

Just a thought, but do Lego C-clips fit the 3mm posts? It could be easy enough to knock something up with the right pieces if that connection matches up.

Lego minifig hands grab right on like they were designed to.

Thanks to an ebay auction we now have robot-mode images of the upcoming BotCon exclusive Octopunch.
Octopunch is based on the G1 Pretender of the same name, as you can see he's based on the HFTD Seaspray mold, and does not feature a new head. Oh and do you notice how the faction symbol is red, which means he's Shattered Glass? Well, congrats to those who spotted that back with the first image we saw of him.
You can click any of the following images to get to the original auction.

I like that idea, but it wouldn't be expensive now would it? :P

Oh, he looks nice, but he's SG, so I'm not really interested.
