I've clearly missed something somewhere. Where has all this talk of Smokescreen come from?

It's just speculation at the moment. The Hub aired a promo that included previous scenes from earlier in the season along with some new ones. One of the new ones is of the new Autobot (quick glimpse, but a still shot taken of the promo shows off some detail that has most fans thinking Smokescreen). Luckily we find out this Friday!

It also comes from word that Takara is making a Prime Smokescreen toy.

You have to remember many other shows had Toy Line Characters but they never made onto the show such as Animated, Armada and others.

Just cause they have a toyline based on the Show such as Ultrmagnus or Skywarp or others dosent necessarily mean they will show on Prime.

You have to remember many other shows had Toy Line Characters but they never made onto the show such as Animated, Armada and others.

Just cause they have a toyline based on the Show such as Ultrmagnus or Skywarp or others dosent necessarily mean they will show on Prime.

In this case he's basing his conclusion off the appearance of the character in the show, and the fact that he's getting a Takara toy is a supplement to the case rather than the basis of it.

Well, it could be a similar case to Prime Shockwave, in which Takara's using an existing mold instead of creating a new one despite the animation model looking different. The hasbro market might get an all new Shockwave later on, and probably Smaokscreen too if it does turn out to be him.

Or, the Knock Out mold might have its car parts remolded to look much different from before, a la Generations FOC Sideswipe being remolded from from Jazz.

Me and Sabr has this exact conversation a couple days ago in another thread haha. Because of the TT Smokescreen using Knockout I was hesistant to think the new Autobot would be him. But FOC Sideswipe is a heavy retool of Jazz, so KO/Smokescreen is possible, although I do agree with you, I hope it's just a stand in and we get an all new mold for him. The doors alone create problems because on KO they're on his forearms but the new Bot has wing doors, plus the body style is very different. I'm sure it's possible to retool KO, but it would be really heavy (in which case bravo to them haha).

True, Smokescreen's apperence has changed quite a bit. I disliked Thundercracker's voice, he sounded redneck.
