"A new autobot? Need more members? Smokescreen? Stupid newbie who saved me team's life today!!"
Well at least that's how I see it anyways. GREAT Episode. Smokescreen is awesome and gets the title of my favorite member of Team Prime now. Nolan North is awesome at doing this kinda character, A+ to the Prime writers. Finally someone comes along and uses the relics!! God I cannot just get over how cool Smokescreen is! I'm glad he got the smarts from Alpha Trion because other wise we would have another Hot Rod/Hot Shot/Cheetor/BB incarnate. Again AMAZING EPISODE.

Sabrblade wrote:This episode was a LONG time coming. Really, REALLY hit home with everything. Action, emotions, character interactions, and a new guy with a seriously awesome personality. I mean it, this is the Autobot character I've been wanting to see in this show since the very beginning! Forget Bumblebee, Smokescreen is TOTALLY the kid-appeal character here. He is Transformers: Prime's answer to Beast Wars's Cheetor, and has SO much potential for character growth and maturity to come. They've finally brought in a character that kids can relate to, not just look up to. Compared to the rest of the gang, Smokescreen is a breath of fresh, youthful air. Bring him on, guys, bring him on.

Also, it isnt the return of the tapdancing monkey, saberblade, its the debut. The first time it was: "Mars Cat Says! Take Me To Your Feeder!" And ratchet actually laughed.

G1 Smoketreader wrote:PLOT QUESTION(?): Smokescreen was captured by the Decepticons the same time at least some of the relics were.He was arguably on the same ship as the relics, or else in a ship of the same fleet (which perhaps went a different way to the relic ship, eg slave /prison planet or interrogation base).
G1 Smoketreader wrote:He escaped, began his journey to Earth/Unicron (storage facility) before the relics arrived, but when he got here, the relics had been around for so long that they're hidden, lost, buried, etc, (& spare Deceps had even been put on guard stasis). How did the Earthbound ship get here so fast? I get that Red Energon is confirmed as present on Earth, & allows Hyperspeed, but I don't get why his homing beacon locked onto Earth with a whole Decepticon empire closer to pick up the S.O.S.
*He is Elite Guard. Impressive. I'm proud of him.He doesn't mention squadmates at the fall of Iacon. Unrealistic, annoying, stupid to me. These writers never fail to frustrate me.
Up side: Smoke can ID and use relics if not codes as well.
Secondly, the phase shifter can pluck a relic straight out of the ground (or a hammer straight out of a vault) as I suspected. Pulling relics out of the ground will speed up mission time. Deadly Soundwave versus Wheeljack slugouts can (partially) be avoided from now on.
An Elite Guard who stands tall & boasts after a victory rather than keep low & watch & listen for Snipers, last men & Soundwaves: Garbage. Writers, get real.
They saved the Wheeljack/Smokescreen meeting for another episode. For once, I can chime in rather that gripe and say 'good writing'. I'm looking forward to see it.

Rumor is it'll be a Takara only figure. It'll be a redeco of Knock Out. (We have no idea if any retooling will be done.) I'm not the biggest fan of that news...

Isn't it odd(if the above turns out to be true) that we aren't getting some major show characters as toys here in the USA? First breakdown now smokescreen, I mean common!

The way he kicked Starscream out was cool, I can't wait to see Optimus kick butt in the Apex armor, although I couldn't help but wonder why the bots didn't take any relics on the trip to the red energon?

The way I see it, Bulkhead will be more likely to use the Apex Armor than Optimus. Bulk's the handicapped one and all.
And that's because none of the other Autobots are smart enough to actually use the relics. That's why I like Smokescreen, he's definitely going to be the Tactical Adversary of Team Prime.

I don't know if it is smart of them to use them. They could lose them to the cons as easily as Starscream did to the bots.

However, the only relic the Decepticons have in their possession that they can use is the Resonance Blaster. I think they should use them when they desperately need it, not at every single battle.

Because, and it's been said many times, that Hasbro is putting Prime as TV series before a toyline. Meaning they could care less what goes on in the toyline, hell, their main toyline was released in 2012 when Prime first aired in 2010. They're focusing on the media of the games and cartoons, not the toys.
It makes no sense, because they are a toy company, but it's true. That's what they've been saying.

All true. They also said they'd be focusing on multimedia, as well. Saying they're becoming a multimedia company, not just toys. It's looking like it's going to be exactly what I thought it was... They'll end up quitting the toys to make money in the box office and on the airwaves and if we want our merchandise, we can either import, or go pound salt.
Or, we might get lucky and a 3rd party (by that, I mean a company such as Bandai, not FansProject) could win the rights to produce the toys. I know it sounds silly to even say such a thing, right now, but I could see Hasbro either cutting toys altogether, or hiring a 3rd party to produce the toys for them and keep on truckin'.
Kinda like how Saban owns Power Rangers, but produces none of the toys. Bandai carries that burden. (Not the best example, but it at least gives you an idea of what I'm trying to say.) Hasbro owns Transformers, but could end up not producing a single toy.
This confirms a rumor I heard on a private forum. A poster there (well known) said he had heard that we wouldn't see toys of all the characters because the cost of the show was so high and it was their main focus and that it would be possible that we might not get the entire cast as toys. Looks like he was right.
Dang it.

Hmmmm not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand I love tf toys. On the other I love the tf media as well. I guess if I had to choose I'd pick media over toys. But I'd rather not have to.

I for one rather despise that concept. I like having the entire cast of a Transformers cartoon, comic, or movie in hand (that's the one thing I didn't like about ROTF, Animated, and DOTM, although I stopped watching Animated about half-way into Season 2, and around that time pretty much every character had a toy).
If I can't have an official toy of Insecticon, Shockwave, Vehicon Miner (I know, that's just obsessive right there), or Smokescreen (or one that doesn't suck. I'm still holding out to see how this KO repaint/retool/re-engineering will turn out), I might just have to turn to 3rd party or make a custom my damn self. It's rather sad when you're forced to do this.
