Defections: still possible?

Is it still possible to defect, or has that bit of the mod panel died?

I'd be in support of people swapping factions if it meant balancing, but considering you've made no secret you only joined the 'Cons for the alts and now you've got what you want you want to bugger off, well I think you should be made to suffer for your some what selfish decision :twisted:

Can't we just reward the defectors to the two factions that desperately need members with something? Tammuz said he would have defected earlier if he had access to the alts he wanted. So I was thinking why not completely open up the alt list for all factions for anyone willing to go Predacon or Maximal. Before I get a chorus of BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW that's not fair, we all know that the Bots and Cons will always get more new players then the other two factions and it's pretty well obvious the pot's going to have to be sweetened to attract players. Also bare in mind if it ends up effecting the entire faction I only want a Steam Roller alt for Za Warudo.

Can't you just have someone organize a tournament with the same prize for the winning faction as the Beasts are getting to make it fair then? Because 1) people obviously aren't joining the Beast Factions as often as the others, so technically they're being favored, and 2) if the roles were reversed and the Bots and Cons were the ones in desperate need of players I'm certain you'd be trying whatever scam you can think of to get recruits Burnsy Bear.

Its still being looked at, but Cyan Bloodbane cane up with an awesome tournament idea for 'stealing' alts from opposing factions that may partially solve this problem.

Ill try and get hold of him and see how far we've got with it.

While a good idea, and one I'd support (if preds and maxis are upgrades, why not have access to more alts? And again... On cybertron, where there are no Apes, Primal turned into Crumplezone for Botcon... May not be a offical counting thing, but it does make some sense that they didn't all nessicarily turn into mechanical beast versions before going to earth) Burn is right.

That would be fun.
We just have to hope its possible, the only thing limiting it is the mods admin panels.

If there's a way to switch players' factions through the current moderator interface, I haven't figured it out, but then that was something I always left to Waylander, so maybe I just don't know what I'm looking for.

As far as the not-fairness of a player choosing the side that has the alts they want, collecting all those alts, and then defecting, I'd be more critical of the fairness of joining a side that has a momentary advantage in game, using that advantage to launch oneself up the rankings, and then switching to a faction where they'll be at the top of the roster. Seems like that might grind some gears the wrong way.

had not considered this, but i'm fairly sure they're at least on pred higher than me, i spose it all depends on what one prioritises; success or alts.

In all fairness, Tammuz did delclare intentions to defect to the Preds from the start, and whilst it was pretty safe to assume the 'cons would rule the game from the off, its was never a given.

She's only joining for the matching raptor-skin handbag and shoes anyway.

This is where my laziness comes in again...

Compared to the Tie Interceptor, yes, a tie fighter is. A paper airplane is more durable (and takes longer to completely burn up. Don't believe me? Light a paper airplane on fire and throw it through the air.) too... Oddly enough.

Honestly, yes, I have a great disdain for creepy crawlies.

And I thank god for the limited vehicle alts we have... but then I see the bots and cons with all their really awesome cars and tanks and stuff, and I cry. Is it to much to ask for a Ford GT, Classics Prime, Cybertron Hot Shot and CD Hot Shot, and Classics Rodimus and a toaster?

It might grind peoples gears when people switch sides, but there's no way to fix it that wont grind peoples gears. Turning off recruiting for Autobots and Decepticons until the Preds and Maximals get closer in numbers would be the fastest, and piss people off when they find out that others had the choice they didn't. As long as the beast factions are in the game, they're going to need numbers. If high people switch over, it will likely upset people, but, at the sametime, it'd also help the other factions because suddenly, there's more competition, and that means more XP, and if the people who switch happen to be going into level 2, that means even more XP for level 1s who manage to hit them. More XP then they would have gotten from beating a bunch of level 1s.

Yep. Its no different to Sprokitz switching when the Maximals first became available.

Same target, different badge. It just means the 'cons will get to shoot at Tammuz.

Oh great, this brings up another problem. We get our asses kicked for weeks, letting someone climb up to level 2 by stepping on our heads, and when they finally get high enough above us that fighting them will pay off for us, they defect to our side, so we can't shoot at them anymore. Given, that should still leave some level 2s in the other factions to shoot at, but nontheless I have less than complete confidence in this plan.

and as for not being able to score off upper levels on you're own side; medics RULE.


yes the damage is cut in half compared to ram, but that's neutralised as soon as you're repairing a level above, fixing a guy 2 levels above you is the equivalent to 40str ram on someone of equal level xpwise.

No no! This a great plan! Because when they switch over, they become our [strike]meatsheild![/strike] bodyguard that we hide behind and kill the rest from behind, riding on his XP to level ourselves up faster! What could possibly go wrong!

*remembers another great plan involving tieing two people together and splashing in the water where a giant man eating koi lived* ... It's a great idea!

and this would be a lot more effective if I remembered how to strike things out...
