I really hope they release this. It'd be cool if they did along with a chest piece or some other upgrade (not that he really needs it).

It looks like that is the case... You can see some kibble on his back that looks like a handle with the slot to fit over those grooves.

Man, this has me even more excited for these, and glad I missed out on the first release back in the day! (Although hopefully, much like the City Commander re-release, Fansproject will also sell the added accessories separately for those who need them.)

I look forward to seeing this in gun mode.

He looks neat, and I hope we get these in-hand soon.

So, is this a fitting end to the unofficial "Year of Shockwave"? Knight Morpher Cyclops (and mini-Wave), FoC Shockwave, RTS Jazz to Shockwave upgrade kit, FansToys Quakewave, Prime BH Shockwave, and finally FP's little Quake.

All those Shockwaves but still no perfect classics Shockwave. Im really hoping Fanstoys keeps their promise on downsizing Quakewave.

Just added these guys to my PoL thanks to another impulse buy #-o

I've always thought they looked cool and have been tempted to get them for a while, but still think they are to small to be my Neo-Classics Combaticons. Guess they will be a place-holder until something bigger comes along.

got these, with United Bruticus today. Fantastic set that works really well together. Swindle's yellow is much less garish in person, although the stripes on the back still bug me, they're also more subdued in-hand. Blast Off is cool, but I already had Flameblast (the white spaceship) so knew what I was getting. The Swindle mold is one of my favourite TFs I own now I think. Practically perfect. Cheeky wee grin on him as well.

The extra parts almost all work really well with the United bots. The feet/trailer extension for Onslaught is brilliantly colour-matched. The bits that add on the side of that mode, where the hands store, are a little off, but work perfect as the lower part of the Vortex arm, so it's excusable. The new colours for the guns are nice and solid, give any bot any of them and they'll look like they mean business.

The combined form is really something. The more G1 cartoon accurate colour-scheme breaks up the figure a lot from the mostly grey original, so that could be a bad thing for some, but I really like it. Reminds me of the original Scramble City gestalts, with it's hodge-podge of different parts, but they still come together to create an amazing whole. Highly recommend. I got stung extra for customs fees and still feel I got more than my money's worth on this set.

(oh and little Shocky is so cute!)

Got these in my POL waiting. I also have the originals, along with Flameblast, Warcry, Energon Bruticus Maximus, ROTF Bruticus, and the Funpub clear versions of the tank and helicoptor. So I will have a rotating display. There will always be one Bruticus and one team of combaticons. The 2nd set of parts will sometimes be used for an upgraded Energon Bruticus Maximus or Nexus Maximus.

X the blue feet for this set might look nice with the clear parts from SexusNexus Maximus.

Man, I am loving these guys... Someday very soon, I shall have to write up a review of this set (and of the Takara figures they go with) for my website... But for now (and the last week or so) I've just been loving the hell out of having 'em on my shelf.

Does anyone know what crossfire 3 will be? It hints at it on the last page in the instructions. Wish they would re-issue crossfire 1.

Crossfire 03 is the Motormaster analogue for their Stunticons.

God I hope so. Mine cracked after being in combined mode as long as I owned it after only removing it once (very carefully I might add). That damn soft plastic they used is horrible on those parts.

I got this re-issued set as well, but I had to 'fix' one of the missle pods right out of the box. The shoulder hinge was flopping all over the place. The 4 screws just turned freely in the holes. Ended up having to stick glue into the screw holes and screwing it back together before the glue set. It's now as tight as the other one, but ill not be messing with it much.

Pardon the resurrection of a quite old thread. It looks like my last post in it (from May of 2013!) ended with me saying I would have to write a review of these guys soon. Well, I did do that, later that month in fact. So I don't know why I didn't come back and do a follow up post announcing that was done at the time. (Hopefully I posted about it elsewhere, and just can't find that post.)

Anyone who hasn't seen them, here's a belated set of links to that series of reviews:

Asian Exclusive Combaticons
Fansproject Munitioner and Explorer (recolored versions)
"Classics" Bruticus (the gestalt formed from all of the above)

Of course, I wouldn't necro-bump a thread just to show off stuff I neglected to mention over a year ago when the thread was still alive! I do have something new to add. I've just posted an addendum to the previous reviews on my website, where I take a look at the Reprolabels offered for these sets. Of course, technically those Reprolabels were made for older (and slightly different colored) versions of these toys, so when ordering them I was concerned that there might be issues with color matching between the stickers and the toys.

So, do the stickers still work? How do they look? Only two ways to find out! You can buy everything yourself and put the stickers on your own toys... or you can read my review addendum!

Reprolabels for Bruticus

Edit: Oh, I guess I did post about it elsewhere! (Suppose I should have searched a bit harder the first time I looked.) Ah, well, I already posted in this thread to announce the addendum, no sense resurrecting two separate threads in the same sub-forum!

I have this set...which I use with the Energon Combaticons, because that's what I could find. Great set, the QC is a bit shaky here and there, and the partsforming is kinda annoying (I leave the feet off Onslaught's shoulders and just have them as a rolling rocket cart thing because they WILL NOT STOP FALLING OFF) but overall I love'em.

I really wish they'd made the antenna out of soft rubber though. One of the antenna snapped off and I can't find it. I know people bitch about use of soft plastic/rubber, but it does have its place!

I assume you mean the ones on the sides of the gestalt's head? Because I cannot think of any other antenna on him. If so then, good lord, no! I'm sorry you broke yours, but while soft plastic does have its place on occasion, this isn't it! Soft plastic when used for thin things such as antenna or swords always ends up warped, and I don't want a Bruticus with his head looking all funky!

Ugh... Leave it to things like nosecones and the like. (Although even then be careful... Blitzwing's nosecone should have been hard plastic!)

Anyway, the antenna on Bruticus are nothing! Don't know how you managed to snap one of those in the course of normal use. I have one of these puppies:

Now that is full of nice, thin antenna! (At least nine of 'em!) Don't know how I've managed to transform that thing without snapping one or five of them off! :D Guess I shall just consider myself lucky.

I'm still not sure how it happened. I think it's because they have to fit in Onslaught's hands, and they kept being knocked when I transformed him, until eventually one of the antenna broke off.

I get what you mean about warping, but these things are pretty small (and fairly thick considering their length) so I don't think warping would be a problem. Another material that would have worked (although it would have jacked up the price) is metal.

I'll be honest, though, if it weren't for having a swivel rather than a ball joint, I'd use the original Energon head.
