Every year in February, the Asahikawa festival takes place, in which sculptors and snow enthusiasts join for a week of white-covered fun. Last year, we saw Autobot leader Optimus' Prime towering over the festivities, in his TF: Prime incarnation, but it looks like official sponsors Takara Tomy has big plans for the 30th Transformers Anniversary: an early release of TF4 toys, probably the First Edition Optimus Prime, and a Transformers Room in the hotel! Check out the machine translated information and mirrored images below, including a couple from last year's festival.

Starscream and Jetfire sunk in the snow. Hilarious and awesome idea.

And anyone know about this funny Optimus critter? Who's the guy in the helmet?

Courtesy of Twitter user Akira T 2716 and YouTube user North44asahi we have images and video from the 55th Asahikawa Snow Sculpture Festival. Takara Tomy has a presence at this event and had several Transformer snow sculptures created including an over 20 meter tall depiction of Optimus Prime/Convoy, which took center stage during the laser and fireworks show. Check out the images and video embedded below.

Looks like there is not going to be a shortage of them Chrome Optimus figures on the market and that Megatron is a ok work of art. Would have liked to see Megs in a action (shooting Canon) pose.
