He's heavy is laserbeak shooting but his ranged is him shooting his own gun
He doesn't transform, but when you tap on him for his alt mobe he deploys ravag and laserbeak

Autobot Prowl Joins Transformers: Forged to Fight - Interview, Details and More

by Va'al
Hasbro has just sent us news of the latest addition to the Kabam! Studios mobile game Transformers: Forge to Fight - the best bad cop around in the TFverse: Prowl. The intel update about the character gives a lot of information about the playability, and we've shared some facts below, along with images and an interview about the character. Check it all out!

Image

About Prowl:

Faction: Autobots

Class: Scout

He may look like your friendly neighborhood cop on patrol, but check under the hood and he’s 100% military-trained police on a mission to serve and protect. He’s a trusted strategist and friend of Optimus Prime, but he’s decidedly less friendly to those who don’t follow protocol…his protocol.

SIGNATURE ABILITY – GOOD COP:

After charging his Melee Buffs, Prowl gets a surge of Power based on how many Melee Buffs he activated.

Passive:

After charging his Melee Buffs, Prowl gets 1.5 ~ 4% Power for each Melee Buff activated.

SPECIAL ATTACKS:

Special 1 – Short Circuit

His short fuse and their short circuit.

100% chance to Power Burn, consuming up to 23.8 ~ 36.4% of the target’s max Power.
If the opponent reaches zero Power as a result of this Power Burn, the strength of their Power Gain Buffs is reduced by 15% for the rest of the fight.

Special 2 – Gunslinger

Locked, loaded, and he’s quick on the draw. Watch Out!

Increases Ranged Damage by 29.5 ~ 36.4% and Ranged Speed for 6 seconds.

Special 3 – Ride Shotgun

Riding shotgun with Prowl is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

100% chance to Power Lock, severing the target’s flow of Power for 16 seconds.

Autobot On Patrol - Prowl

Derek Dishes Dirt on Prowl’s Animations

Cuz: When animating Prowl in his vehicle mode, did you look to famous cop cars for inspiration...you know like Starsky and Hutch’s muscle car, Kojak’s classic undercover sedan, or maybe Scooby’s Mystery Machine?

Derek: We often gather reference from any source that makes sense to the character, even ones mentioned above. But the idea of Prowl burning out while towing a bot on a chain behind him was purely inspired by me playing with transformer action figures at my desk. I just happened to have Prowl and Starscream at my desk and a beaded necklace left over from one of our staff parties, and Just like that I was back at my parents house playing bad ass cop versus the world.

Cuz: Which special was more satisfying to direct Prowl's pump shotty blast or savage baton beatdown?

Derek: This is a tough one, because I like them both, but if had to pick one I would say the “pump shotty blast”. Just because this special was inspired from “Charles Bronson” he was very bad ass with his gun.

Cuz: That’s pretty rad because Chuck was the original Action Bronson...kind of like how Prowl was the original tough guy Transformers cop.

Prowl Gets The Piero Treatment

Cuz: As one Prowl’s gameplay designer you’d be able to answer a good cop/bad cop question that’s been bothering me. I have a pretty solid Barricade (bad cop) on my team, and Prowl (good cop) is now entering the Fight. As I tend to dig bad things, why should I want a hard boiled law enforcer like Prowl? Break him down for me.

Piero: The character team worked really hard to make his moves and abilities feel great while also capturing his “Good Cop” personality. At the start of the fight, Prowl can Dash Back and try to “persuade the opponent” into giving up fighting, which in the end, results in Prowl dealing a lot of damage.

While the tension is building up, he can Stun opponents with his Ranged Attacks and passively gain Melee Damage Buffs that prepares Prowl for the inevitable big fight. What I usually do in this stage is to Dash Back, Sidestep Up and Down while also using Ranged Attacks in order to build up the maximum amount of Melee Damage Buffs.

When the opponent tries to land an attack, Prowl goes into the offensive and deals massive damage with his Melee Attacks. His Signature Ability “Good Cop” also provides a great amount of Power when Prowl goes into the offensive. All those abilities will prove that being a Good Cop is the best thing. :)

Cuz: Let’s talk mods and Prowl. Did you guys make a special handcuffs and sirens mod for him? If not, boo. In lieu of that cool idea, what ,mod would you recommend for Prowl?

Piero: His Special 2 deals -amazing- damage. I would recommend using the Superconductor-2000 or Robot Resource in order to activate it more often!

Using Prowl with the Repair Module would also be great! Prowl tries to keep himself at a distance before attacking with his fully charged Melee Damage Buffs, because of that, fights might last longer and the Regeneration will trigger more. I am excited to try out this combo when he comes out on May 18th.

Nick Talks Chains and Nightsticks

Cuz: As much as I hate getting my car towed, I have to admit that it’s pretty cool seeing old Prowl extend his chains and take the perp for a ride. Tell us about creating that effect.

Nick: I wanted to enhance Prowls chain by making it look “charged”, but getting the electrical FX to stick onto Prowls chain was tricky. Purple electricity flows along the chain as it twists in all directions. The second part of that effect are the sparks emitting from the victim to convey grinding along the floor.

Cuz: I’ve noticed that Prowl’s beatdown baton is pink. Or is that reddish-purple? What was the thinking behind that? Wouldn’t an Energon infused nightstick smack the Energon right into the enemy?

Nick: Prowl moves fast during his baton attack. We wanted to make sure that Prowl’s nightstick and FX really stood out, so yes, the baton is reddish-purple. The blue-ish electrical FX are more readable at speed this way. The baton attack causes electrical FX on the opponent as a ”power burn” to the opponent before the next hit.

Cuz: Thanks for the gameplay related FX info. Looks like you’re gunning for Piero’s job;)

I mean, it is the Google Play shop. This isn't counting console games from the likes of Sony or Nintendo or anything; it's just whatever you can get on your mobile phone. So when this game's a popular brand (ie it's a Transformers game, lots of people love Transformers) and the competition's Candy Crush and Angry Birds, not the most surprising thing in the world.

Seibertron.com Visits Kabam Studios: Forged to Fight Design, Process, Trivia and More

PostPosted: Fri Jun 02, 2017 8:12 am
by william-james88
Seibertron.com was invited to visit the Kabam Games studio in Vancouver, Canada. They currently make both Marvel: Contest of Champions and the award winning Transformers: Forged to Fight. Of course, we went to learn more about the Transformers game and I have tons of tidbits for you about the process and design behind the characters, which is what fascinated me most. We will have more content for you coming, such as interviews with the creators, writers and Hasbro packaging artist Marcelo Matere, who is now a full time employee on Transformers: Forged to Fight (but don't worry IDW fans, he still has time for variant covers).

Image

The one thing that I really got from this is that these developers are huge fans of the franchise. There is a big (not licensed) Optimus Prime Statue at the studio entrance. It used to make sounds but that drove the receptionist crazy, so now he only lights up.

Image

Here is what I learnt while on the tour and speaking to the creators and designers:

The model used for Drift in the game (seen in trailers and cutscenes) is based on his Age of Extinction look rather than his Last Knight look because the more reference to movement available the better, and the only media they have access to for The Last Knight right now is trailers (which Drift doesn't appear in). Hasbro does send them reference material if needed and the reference Hasbro sent to them for Drift was shots of the Prime 1 Studios statue.

Image

The Sharkticon design was in house and not based on any previous design. They needed a grunt type character for the story and while the Sharkticons fit the bill narratively, their G1 designs, which is echoed in their Generations toy, didn’t fit with the overall aesthetic of the game. So they created their own “Generations Sharkticon” which would be more of an update, “classics” style, like many figures were before the recent turn of the Generations toys being much closer to their G1 counterparts.

Image

From a writing perspective, Cuz Parry, the writer of this game (and the writer of the entire Skate series), finds this similar to writing a comic book since it doesn’t end. You just build on the story and create new stories with this same or evolving roster. There is a beginning and then a middle, middle, middle, middle…

Image

The only licensing in the game is with Hasbro for their characters. While the alt-modes look very close to their movie alt-modes, none of the vehicles are licensed. All the designers have to do to bypass copyright is change the angle of the headlights and the shape of the grill. Those happen to be the distinguishing features trademarked on a car’s look.

Image

As you all know I am fond of lists, and here are two tidbits regarding lists and Transfomers:
1. Hasbro sent a list to the team of specific characters they would be fine with them using. And that list included Trenchmouth.
2. Hasbro also has a list of 7 pillar Transformers characters that they try to keep visible in their marketing and licensing (like DC’s three marketing pillars being Superman, Batman and the Joker). While they didn’t remember the specifics, they said it was the obvious G1 ones like Megatron, Optimus, Bumblebee and Starscream, but they did remember being surprised by the inclusion of Hound.

Image
Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Trenchmouth Gallery

The hardest move to design ever was the box move for Mirage. It is not the design that was hard (it's just a box), it was the timing. The box must first appear fully around Mirage for him to then disappear and it must then reappear fully and fade away for Mirage to reappear. That’s a lot of animation to handle and a long time for the game to stop and for the opponent to either move away or no longer be in control. Plus, you are giving someone the ability to no longer be seen, which might be too big of an advantage in a fast paced game like this. So there too, it’s about the timing. How long can the player be truly invisible? Cuz, the writer, jokingly said that if the box didn’t work they could just have his special be that he parachutes down.

Most G1 designs in the game are based on Hasbro designed toys. Lead character developer, Adam Cooper said that sadly, Ratchet does not have any good Hasbro designed toys out there and thus his design is instead a hybrid of the Takara Masterpiece and the DeNA design from Transformers: Legends.

Image

Image

These are all the tidbits I have for now. More will come when we are at the discretion to share and in upcoming interviews. And about the city itself, Vancouver, if there is one thing I wasn't prepared for, it's for how sarcastic it was.

Image

Joking aside, it was an amazing trip and Seibertron.com would like to thank Hasbro, Kabam Studio and their partners at Rogers & Cowan for organizing this exciting event.

That tells me Shockwave and Rodimus arent pillars. Like they favor season 1 of G1. I think Hound is basically because John warden has some kind of authority on it (which is odd since he isnt marketting).

I just want to add that of all characters, hound was also in the roster for the Power of the primes vote

Hasbro is pushing this guy hard, in both his incarnations. and since the game deals with both g1 and movie, i dont know which side Hasbro was aiming him for.
