Not to bash anyone's hopes or anything, but we don't know the exact scope of the Selects range yet, and viewing it as a successor to the club seems... like jumping to conclusions. I understand people see possibilities, but all I'm seeing so far are easy redecos with somewhat obscure origins using current molds. Would be great if it really was a continuation of the kind of figures the club had to offer, but for now I'm carefully optimistic.

Hmm. Well, blue Swoop works fine for me and I'm satisfied with Moonracer/Jazz/Wreck-Gar/Novastar/Inferno as the configuration for the mish-mash PotP Autobot combiner so I'll likely pass on both of these. Ricochet does look like he'd make a solid non-combiner display piece though, so we'll see if I change my mind.

Hence, the strike-through of the part of your post I wasn't actually responding to. ;)

MeGrimlock78 wrote:I was super excited for both of these. I've always loved stepper and while I like blue Swoop, red Swoop fits better with the team aesthetically (ironic that red Slag would fit less aesthetically?)

Two thoughts though:

1. Swoop looks like he's made of grey plastic, not silver like the other dinos.

2. If Ztepper has no targetmaster (which at that price seems a certainty), Siege Firebolt is a good stand in.

1. I noticed that on Red Swoop too, but I'm not sure it's a real plastic color difference and not just a photography issue. With any luck, we'll get some side-by-side comparisons of the two Swoops (photographed together) in the near future. If it does turn out that Red Swoop has a very different gray plastic color, that will suck for anyone who wanted a more "united" color scheme for Volcanicus. However, that makes it easier for me, personally, to turn Red Swoop into a different character and use him as a limb on another combiner (probably Firestormer or Elita Infin1te).

2. I thought about using Firebolt as a stand-in for Nightstick/Nebulan too. Too bad the arms and legs of Siege Firedrive are brilliant white instead of gray. Also, Firebolt/Firedrive is a double barreled blaster. I think Ricochet/Stepper's Targetmaster partner is traditionally single-barreled. We might be able to do some creative parts swapping with some other Siege Battlemasters, though! :-?

Instead you made it look like the part you struck out was incorrect and you were going to link to proof. I was confused at first as well, but I wasn't disappointed since I didn't expect him to come with his Targetmaster partner in the first place. It's not like any of Hasbro's other recent Targetmasters got their partners, why buck the trend?

And now that we officially have word from Hasbro that this is indeed an ongoing collectors line I'm pretty excited to see what they come up with. I wonder just how far and how obscure they'd be willing to go? Domestic Encore releases? Takara Tomy Mall exclusives? Titan redecos? Retools? Box sets? Are all Generations exclusives going to be under the Selects banner now or only certain ones? Lots of questions I'm looking forward to seeing answered.

Firebolt's definitely not perfect, but pretty close. Unless Classics Nightstick was remolded in black?

It may be worthwhile swapping out the legs and arms of the two swoops so red Swoop matches the rest of the dinos...and then blue Swoop (with a molded visor?) could be a Strafe...

Hopefully the following will be done:
Combiner Wars G2 Defensor
WFC Reflector (Toy colours)
WFC G2 Sideswipe

Admit it: you all want G2 Sideswipe simply because the original "Generations-style" toy was a BotCon Customizing Class exclusive, don't you:

I just want G2 Sideswipe because I love G2 Sideswipe and his Snarl of Heavy Metal Hatred (Patent Pending).

Same, though it's possible we're getting G2 Sideswipe as a non-Selects exclusive in the Firestormers set anyway.

I'm guessing that Acid Storm/Sunstorm from the new Voyager Seeker mold is a pretty safe bet to occur.

I'm weird when it comes to things like that. If a repaint is clearly a new character, I'm all for it. If it is 2 toys with the *same name* but are clearly different molds, I can work with that too.

Its just that when 2 toys, have the same name, and are from the same mold (only the paint is different)...I can't work with it, unless I can easily re imagine it such as Golden Lagoon Starscream, I can easily pass as Sunstorm.

The "normal" Swoop can stand in nicely as Revenus's non-mutated form.

Acid Storm more so than Sunstorm these days for some reason. Considering the mold I suppose there's a lot of options they could go with, though.

I'm more interested in what they can do with this new Voyager Seeker mold to give us Thrust, Ramjet, and Dirge. Once we have the Coneheads figured out, then bring on the endless repaints of the Starscream/Thundercracker/Skywarp specific body type, I say!

Yellow is, like, so overrated, I mean, look at that yellow bot you see in every movie, what's his name again? Like, whatever...

He was:

He was colored like this in the "Battle in Space" and "Challenge at Cybertron" sets, and black with an orange face on the ones that came with Henkei Cyclonus and United Stepper.
And yes, Nightstick/Nebulon is traditionally a single-barrel gun so Firebolt is definitely a misfit substitute.

Regarding the Seekers... I think the coneheads are more likely to happen in the WFC trilogy proper while the parade of B-list and C-list straight redecos will be this line's bailiwick.

Those pics look more like Nova Storm.

Sunstorm's more golden orange than lemon yellow. ;)

While he has been Golden-Orange, Sunstorm is mostly portrayed as Yellow

Just throwing my 2 cents in. I think we have a perfectly Passable Sunstorm.

Of course that is for Deluxe. If you want something bigger as in a Voyager, then yeah...I can see several Siege Starscream repaints to fulfill many seeker completists wishes.

Not quite. The original eHobby redeco was a creamsicle but the cartoon appearancr was more yellow, something reflected by his Masterpiece toy.
Image
Also, the white gauntlets and feet are decidedly Sunstorm as can be seen here.

Nova Storm on the other hand was more acid yellow in color, and like the other Rainmakers his gauntlets, guns, and feet were identical in color to his body in his animated appearance.

Edit: Gah! Ninja'd!

Universe Nightstick is old, but the Battlemasters aren't exactly a huge improvement in articulation plus none of them are Nameswapped Toy-only Autobot Targetmaster (Porsche type)'s actual partner. Nightstick is, or is at least the closest we've got without straight-up using the recreated G1 mold.

Bring something new to the table. We got a lot of Nightsticks, so using the battlemaster should be used.

And now that we have the reveals, wow!

Ricochet owns that mold so much!! Great looking figure!

Red Swoop looks awesome too! I have both on pre-order from TFsource to ship with Big Convoy and Drift in February.

Now I need to actively hunt down a deluxe Groove and another blue Swoop. Blue Swoop will be Strafe, Red Swoop Ptero, and they will go great on Magnaboss!

I apologize if has already been pointed out, but Ricochet completes the Elita-Infin1te if you're going by the box art (as seen here and here). Right legs has been described as "a black redeco of Jazz", which would be Richochet. Presumably the unseen right arm is Novastar, who has Elita-Infin1te's art on her packaging and [url=http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/novastar-and-moonracer-something-i-found-intresting-about-their-blasters.1159644/whose weapon combines with Moonracer's[/url] (like how the Cominer Wars gestalts got combining weapons). And since none of them belong to another combiner, this would seem to be their team.

It's nice to see one of these "spare" combiners finally completed with their own parts.

I still don't know how people are making themselves believe this. Why would that be a black Jazz redeco on the left side of the picture? It's some non-descript gunmetal gray thing, probably a gun if anything. Doesn't look especially like any part of the Jazz mold. Also, look at how the left leg is positioned over on the right of the picture. If that thing on the left is Elita Infin1te's right leg, that would be an awfully awkward position for the combiner to be contorting into, like some kind of a weird squat with one leg kicking out. Is she performing the Hopak?
